Rob...from one central mass. guy to another...besides Papa Johns...where do you recommend for pizza?
Its extremely difficult to find 'good' pizza.
I think Bertucci's is the best of the chains. The problem is that it is more of a restaraunt atmosphere I have no idea if they even deliver. Their white sauce pizza is unreal. And they use a stone brick oven.
I like UNO's a lot too. But it is very thick and also expensive. And the pies arent that big. But they use the real chunks of tomato and also have an oven that is superior to most others.
To me what makes the biggest difference is as follows:
1. If the dough was made fresh that day. (It's very rare for places to do this, as they usually get the frozen pre-made and thaw it. But it makes a HUGE difference)
2. The oven. The generic oven you see in a lot of these newer mom and pop places just dont give you the crisp, somewhat flaky crust with the chewy middle. A lot of chains are like this too unfortuneatly.
3. The sauce. The UNO's sauce for example is actually kind of bland. But it's done so well it works perfectly.
4. Qaulity of the meats. I cant tell you how many times I have had shit pepporoni. It ruins the expierence sometimes.
5. Qaulity of the cheese (most cheese is the same IMO)
