Hey, doberman, buddy, best of luck, you have our support which although little is all we can give. Lets hope you hang in there, take it one day at a time. Dont think anyone minds if you keep us informed of any progress, so please do.

Best for you my friend, you can do it.

Slim.

After you placing odds on yourself I think you are a phony and wasting a section of the offshore sportsbook section with a fable.

Frankie, I wish it were not true, but it is.
That is the realistic look at what I think it is, I have no problem not drinking druing the work week, it is my "friday" night and weekend that get me in trouble.

Green D,

RobFunk seems to have some serious/realistic advice....as do many of the others (jokes aside).

You have received more honest and caring advice than I would have expected from these Gents..........Do the "get the body back to the right diet" thing, and up your water intake,
as well as avoid caffiene (as was all previously stated by the Funkster).

It really SHOULD help......you may not have to quit forever........just fiercely regulate your drinking with the help of close friends and family.

I truly wish you all the best.

If I were in your shoes I would think in advance about the situations you put yourself in. If you are a weekend binge drinker, plan some activities for yourself this weekend that don't involve drinking. Go see a movie. Read a book. Do something different that interests you. If you were into running in the past, plan a nice run for Saturday am, and don't drink Friday so you can get going early. Don't hang out with buddies who are big drinkers or put yourself in situations where people will be boozing it up. You know what will happen if you do. And, it probably wouldn't hurt to stop gambling for a week or so. If you're betting too much for you comfort level, turning to alcohol may anethesitize you to the risk/pressure.

Do not deprive yourself.

Limit yourself to having a couple drinks and savor it. If you really cannot do that, you need professional help quickly.

King,
Very solid advice my friend. I have definitely thought of that, the only problem is my weekend starts at 4 am on a Tuesday morning and even in Vegas, there is not a whole lot to day that doesn't involve drinking or gambling.
The other problem is most of my good friends are bartenders or heavy drinkers.
But, I will try and perservere and fight the good fight.

Check This- Maybe this will help..

I am the same way...or was...I used to black out so often , I had been put in jail at least 10-12 times in my early years...(19-22) ..must have been my rebelious years...Any ways I was real heavy into whiskey and hard liquor..At that time I really wasnt into beer yet...Finally , I realized it was the whiskey and I changed my drink and preferences...I mean .Its the worst feeling waking up in a BIG county jail, and not even know why your there or any thing....It totally sucks....Oh well...I Only drink beer on occasion( but of course when I do drink beer I still over induldge, but no longer black out) ...Also I do Smoke The good, lights out...I would suggest switching to beer...If that doesnt help...The best thing , even if it sucks, is not to drink..
You would never be able to forgive yourself if you were on a black out and harmed another person....gl

seriously, sit down and make a list of things that are important to you. now when you get done making the list, read it very carefully. THOSE ARE THE FIRST THINGS YOU WILL LOSE IF YOU DONT TURN THINGS AROUND.

good luck.

I don't know about you, but I can barely turn a profit when I'm sober and know the moves.

Do it for your bankroll man

Green, I had the same problem and didn't want to go to AA. I simply said to myself that I would lose everything if I continued, so I decided that i would choose my family and health over drinking. when my doctor told me that my liver was on the edge, i said i would rather live a little longer rather than crawl into the bottle.
BTW, Vegas is not an easy town dry out in. There is booze on every corner. The casinos shoving it down your throats, the deuce, shows, everywhere. It helped me to get the hell out of V when I wanted to stop. Good luck!
