I knew it was getting overturned but if u asked 100 people that don't know the rule all 100 would say he caught the ball - it passed the eye test

I agree, I had no action on game or a fan of either team.

Perfect angle elbow 1st to ground. Whatever ruling is? Looks like ground caused fumble so........ Karma rules

the right call was made based on the rule and what we have all seen every Sunday for years now.

That shouldn't suddenly change if the Cowboys are to benefit.

sorry but totally irrelevant

This is the official rule on receptions in the NFL:

"If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."

I really don't care, don't get into the refs stuff like others but that was 1 of the best plays in NFL playoff history and it amounting to nothing is a little lame.

Tough call to make

The way I would interpret the wording would make this a catch. He caught it at the 5 and made two steps and went 5 yards and changed hands and reached for the goal line. How is what he did not a catch? I would like to know.

If you are interpreting it to the rule then he did not maintain control all the way down but fuck he went 5 yards, you gotta have better rules. He balled out during the biggest moment of the year.

I don't watch games just follow so it's not a catch if he didn't regain control by rules....... Thanks

If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete.

I agree with this..

If Dez caught the ball there and went down there, it's incomplete... but 5 yards is a football move...

He caught it with two hands and changed to one and took two steps and then hit the ground.

He didn't lose control though. He had complete control the whole way. Just fumbled after he hit the ground.

Bourn, do you still think the Cowboys are going to Seattle or do you think they won't buy tickets and probably stay home now?

Hmm. I think they just lost homie. Good luck with you Pats.

Lastly I gotta say Dez kinda F'd it up watching the replay. He had 2 hands on the ball and seems like he had the body control to comedown with it but he tried to reach for the endzone which ended up causing the loss of control. If he just tried to secure it and be down at the 2 I feel like he makes that play but we'll never know.
