For a lot of people it isn't. But if your savings were running out and no prospects presented themselves, you'd never consider it?

For some, keeping the lights on and staying fed during an economic downturn is a priority.

for anyone with an inquiring mind...mcdonald's will never be an option. some people may pick it up as a second job just to keep ahead of the game...however, i would rather just grind it out. though i can't speak for everyone

Start your own business

For sure.

TRS, most people can't do the stuff you are doing around the house and like you said contractors charge the big bucks for this stuff. Why don't you charge a little less than the big bucks and show what you can do. Take some before and after pictures, get some jobs and get it rolling. You said you actually enjoy it. Seems like a good fit.

I am trying to get more vending machines. I am going to look at a couple on friday. They are already in place. I just need to research the company they are in.

Let me say this.
1 - I am still getting paid from my last job. When I left I had a month of vacation and also got 4 weeks sevrence pay.
2 - After that if I still have no job I will collect unemployment. This is not what I want to do but if it comes to that I will.
3 - If I had to work anywhere to support my family I would. I will do anything that is not ilegal. (rob banks , sell drugs)
4 - Poker is going to be am option soon. I am just trying to finisg the house while I know I have time. I have been working on the house for a while now and its to the point being what we want.

Nothing better than working for yourself. I am also looking into what it takes to be a property manager. My parents have houses so that could get me started.

On a side note Rightside, I know you think I'm a dick, and the feeling is more than mutual.

However, you seem pretty skilled at poker. If a person has any kind of skill and patience, there's no way they can't grind out $70-$90 a day playing the $20 Double or Nothings at pokerstars without having to dedicate more than a few hours each day. Not a ton of money, but even $1500 a month hidden from Obama or whoever you're mad at should come in handy.

Good luck with the job hunt.

I have no problem with you. I just didn't know you were so far left. I only hate 1 person from this site. LOL Geez I wonder who that could be.

I am not "mad" at anyone for me losing my job. What makes me so special to think I should be garunteed a job. LOL Thats how your side thinks.

be a walking beer vendor.

i do this about once a month and make anywhere from $800-$1200 in a weekend. Made around a dime last weekend at the NASCAR event.

You are clearly into your cities sport. you go to the game for free and make some coin on top of it. Not to mention get one of the best workouts ever.

I still hold a 9-5 on the weekdays too.

Just a suggestion.

Walk around one of the most dangerous places in the country with beer and cash. LOL I don't like my chances of living past the night.

Some posters in the Poli forum wish you'd give that walking beer vendor gig in Detroit a shot.
