Assassin, where do you get this advise from? None of it is correct. You don't get sued for lying about your qualifications, just for lying on the numbers. You can have a third grader do your accounting, it just better be right. Making mistakes will get you fired, lying is what gets you sued or charged.

Also no accountant is EVER forced to take the CPA. That is something you decide upon and then prepare months to take. You can't just take it either you have to have a verfied degree in accounting with a strict list of required courses. After it you must work in audit, which would require someone to leave the job so no employer would ask a worker to do this unless they wanted to get rid of them. Most people working in accounting today don't have CPAs and would have no chance to pass it..

Lastly if this is all true, and surely we have our doubts, I would bet anything the company has zero exposure to a Big 4 firm. Funniest thought is they could probably weed out JJ by just asking him who the Big 4 are! JJ would add "State" to the end of all their names and the gig would be up...

Best of luck JJ. Rest assured there are people out there with CPAs and lots of experience that have no business sense and therefore add no value to their companies. You just might pull this off for awhile. In a year or so you will be bored though accounting is an insanely boring grind and most accountants dream of moving over to finance where the money and glory are.
