Drunken I'm not paying a dime for the location I'm at. That is mostly with schools and other public buildings. Like I said I didn't answer any adds at all. This fell right into my lap. That's why I would be a fool to pass this up. If at the very worst I end up with another fridge and enough pop and candy to feed off of for a year. I know there are negayives with any business but with this certain one I haven't been able to find one. It's in my wifes office where she is the escrow manager off. They tried to get a vender in there and they refused (said she had under 50 people). They have 38 people and will hire more when MI economy gets going again.

TheRightSide,

Depending upon where you're located in MI, you might want to consider contacting newly constructed buildings (high rise office, appartment, etc) and speak with those in charge of the building asking them about putting in your machine(s) since everyone needs/wants a snack or drink now and then at work/home.

Something I did nine years ago was get one of those soda machines and put it in the laundry room (appartment complex) and let the change come in a little at a time. Eventually, the coin paid for the machine and repairs. Soon after it started making a small but profitable income.

When you get your location, get a picture of you with the machine, post it here telling everyone where it's located. Best of luck to you.

First off, I would write down any ideas that are useful from this thread...I would then use google and look for some other forums ....or articles ( preferably alot)to put with your ideas....Get 10 keys areas ( locations) in mind...Get a decent presentation together...nonthing Fancy , just be yourself..Dont worry about interuptin their business day...."Door to Door" would be the best .. face to face...( its tougher for people to say NO face to face).

Fuck the machine ! right now...These people more importantly want to make a connection. Be pleasant and honest , sense of humor doesnt hurt.....and ask questions....By the time you have talked to your Top 10 Places.....You will be comfortable and most land one.. Make them like you , relate to them or make them relate...and your butta.

Once your in, Let them know what they will get for the space....Or if they dont get nothing then dont offer anything...
Once one door opens ...others tend to open even faster..One machine wont be enough ,,after you get the 1st going in the right place.

Jeffksu was right , placement is key. My 2 bros. are currently at Pepsi and they have told me the same....$400-500 a week ? Cha Ching....
Maybe put your Top 10 aside ,,,,and practice on some others that are similar but in different areas , then you will be better for the good ones..

um a few places that I personally would try are:

New Neighborhood (pools , clubhouses/offices)

laundry mats..( kids, snacks, fat trashy bitches , what more can you ask for?) lol

Hotels?

Big Car Lot waiting room?

Locally owned small to mid size company.....preferbly 10-45 in house employess.....

tons of options out there really , just need to feel it out. Sorry for the rant , I just sparked one and felt like ranting.....blah

we need a vending machine @ our office.... for some reason our boss doesn´t wanna get one......

I hate vending machines ...

-when I gotta pay 575 colones for a coke
-when it doesn´t accept 500 colones coins
-when it eats the coin and never gives the product
-when it takes like 5 months to be refilled
-when you see your damn snickers coming and it gets stocked in the end and you have to move the machine (Homer´s style) to get the fk´n chocolate bar

Back in high school our vending machine in the cafeteria was bogus. You could lay on your back and reach your hand up the chute and grab the candy on the lower 1/4 of it. We had study hall in there and would get free candy everyday unitl finally (after months) they rigged it up to stop us. Im a terrible person I know

I used to post on a music forum and a guy there talked about owning gumball machines. Not exactly the same but basically the same principle. I asked him about it once and he gave me some advice.

The fact that your're not going to offer the place anything for giving you a location is pretty fucked. 20-30% is the standard deal. He said one way to get out of that is to donate a portion of your profits to a charity, such as Make-A-Wish. If you use that in your pitch you won't have to pay for a location as the owner will feel like he is doing something positive and it makes it harder for them to turn you down - who wants to say no to Make-A-Wish? Also, if you do the charity thing, make sure you put a sticker on the machine stating that some proceeds are going to the charity as it entices more people to buy. You might find a location without offering the owner of the business a damn thing, but you won't get as good of locations.

We made it easy charge .75c for everything. Like I said we are on the hunt for soda sales try to get it for no more than 35c a can. In MI we have a .10c fucking deposit or I would make even more. I'm not sure if I should put a can collector next to the machine. Not sure if that is the right thing to do.

drive down here to ohio...we have deals galore on pop (i say it too). load up on cases upon cases

Right Side - I don't know where you are in Michigan, but the cheapest soda is usually at Meijers or Target. If you can get them to take Red Bull, you can get cases at Gordons Food Centers for about $1.30/can and sell for $2. Then the money will pour in.

TRS,
Being a diehard GOPer, why don't you just steal the soda from the poor?

That's the American way!

WOOOHOOOOO I'm a business owner. I only have 1 but hell ya got to start sometime. My goal is to have 3-4 more by the end of the year. This seems like a business where I can be selective on the growth I have.

Anybody have any fresh ideas to find new places to place a vending machine. I have thought of group Emails or putting up flyers in the lobby. Not sure about door to door or phone soliciting. Don't want to disrupt thier business day.

:dancefool :dancefool

I thought those places you buy it from place it for you:icon_conf ...shows what I know about it

although I shook our one at work yesterday for 5 mins trying to get that granola bar to drop damn it!:smoker2:

I am not being negative, but I want to limit the expectations on your present location. That office has 38 people. It will get visitors, but primarily those 38 workers will be doing most of the buying. Lets do the math.

A fair estimate would be maybe 2 purchases per week per worker and maybe another 20 or so per week from all others. This is being generous. That gives you a little less than 100 purchases per week. Charging 75 with cost being about 50%, this will net you $37.50 per week. Total yearly expected profit would be $1,950. Consider the time and effort into restocking and repairing the machine and you will soon realize while other vending companies did not want that location.

Forget about making $500 per week per machine. Those locations are few and far between and will be very difficult to come by. My numbers are much more realistic for the locations which can be had. If you put a good bit of effort into placing the machines (offering bribes will be critical) then you can end up with a decent income producer, but don't expect to get rich.

Right Side,

I also live in Michigan and just sold my vending business about 2 months ago. If you would like any advice or tips let me know. I have to tell you though that you will need at least 10 machines to make it worth any kind of time you put in. It's really a grind but if you can accumulate accounts it's definitely worth it. Not sure where you live it but I used Vistar for a lot of my supplies, it's at 275 and Michigan Ave. You definitely need an account there if you are gonna get serious about this business. They also have a BB there where you can pick up some accounts from those selling. I would also suggest getting an account with Coke or Pepsi or both. That will make your life a ton easier, they will also give you free soda machines.

Anyhow, good luck and if you would like to chat email me MSeaton@Thespread.com

Fraternity houses on college campuses.

Stock it with cigarettes, condoms, gum/breath mints.

You will make a killing. High ticket items are the way to go.

Good luck

I once heard of a guy who made a dime a week passing out flyers. He even offered to share his secrets but somewhere along the way things didn't work out exactly as planned.

Don't know what the flyer guy is doing these days. Anybody heard from him lately? I bet he has found another way to make easy money!!

Outside of self serve Car washes is ideal and alot of times the owner will let you put it in for no split.

I bought them for myself when I owned my Car Washes and they did very well, but then again I am in Florida and it is hot as piss 80% of the time.

Two questions..

1- How much is generally required for you to pay for the space where you put these?

2- Wouldn't it make sense to charge $1 rather then 0.75$, would save dealing with small change and I am sure most people wouldn't mind paying $1 for a pepsi..unless u stock it with that cheap no name shit

But anyways, good luck with the venture.
