Signal/noise

I don't think the Rockets lost to the Lakers/Spurs/Warriors the last 5 years because of any issues related to Harden's character or chemistry. I think they lost to those teams because they were better at basketball.

Taking opportunity cost out of it (i.e the Heat being able to trade for other top players later), I think trading Robinson/Herro for Harden would give them more equity to win over the next 2-3 years.

Funny because everything people are saying about Harden is everything they said about Butler before he went to Miami. I'm sure I could find threads and link them but don't think there is much debate he had that stigma as well. When AD got dealt to the Lakers he was a "bad stats on a good team guy" and they gave up too much.

People just kinda run wild w/ this stuff rather than focus on substance imo, just kinda the culture around sports media and media in general.

I understand your points. And you make good ones. I just think this Harden character is a different animal.

Just for interest's sake, I'd like to see him traded to a contending team. Just to see what happens..

Butler had frustrations in both Minny and Philly as he had VERY talented young guys but they didnt want to work that hard.

1 of my favorite Butler games was that Game 7 against Toronto when him and Kawaii (both on free agent contracts) went balls to the wall vs each other. Just a classic game that nobody watched as most people were watching 1 of the final episodes of GOT.

Butler comes to Miami, becomes the Alpha dog, and has a group that will follow him.

HEAT culture is REAL. It starts at the top with Mickey to Riley and all the way down. That is how they got Lebron in the first place (Wade could have went somewhere else if he wanted). Yes they only won 1 series in 5 years after he left but how has Cleveland done both times after Lebron left? Your team cannot stay dominant when its built around Lebron. MORE props to the HEAT for reloading so fast and becoming a contender again.

Right now, it seems that no contending team would be excited to take on James Harden and his contract.

Is Harden a first ballot HOF? Yes he is
Do I want Harden on my team right now? Not sure but it depends on what i'd have to give up

The same number as the Lakers these past 40 years without Kobe, Magic, or Lebron

Exactly .

This also puts Lakers culture into question .

And how many times has the "Harden Culture" led his team to a championship as a 1, much less even advance to the Finals?

NBA is all about your stars and how the chemistry is between them and the role players. "Culture" is way more important in other team sports like football.

There's talk on the local sports radio of him becoming a Portland Trailblazer .... The Dame/CJ experience is 7 years old and I'd welcome it.

Dude is there enough balls to be shot with those 3 Monsters, couldn't imagine how dangerous they would be especially with Nurkic down low.
