Unbelievable. Shit the sky must really be falling. You guys really need some cold water and some quiet time to think. In a few months we'll all look back and how ridiculous this overreaction all was. If it was that easy to shut down international gambling transactions don't you think Spitzer would have had it done already from New York? It is impossible to do completely. Yeah they might figure some obvious transactions and block them, but so what? Its like if you went to a bar and some chick shut you down. You move onto the next until one bites.

Same here. The processors can't afford to just say we will follow the law. They have no business if they say no more US customers because the processors live and die with Americans. In other countries credit and debit cards are usable so they don't need to mess with Neteller and the like. Neteller does some international business, but certainly not enough to survive without their bread and butter.

The thing I don't understand about all this is, How are the banks going to know what is and what isn't a gaming transaction? Isn't that what Firepay and the like are for. The law is going to try and block banks from allowing transactions for gaming purposes but it is almost impossible to tell what is and what isn't. Am I right here or is there more to this thing than I am seeing?

In the face of all common sense they are going to spend the next 270 days trying to figure this one out. I give them 1% chance of success. They want to come up with the same sort of coding credit card companies have instituted, but the rest of the world doesn't have an obligation to play along. When an establishment wants to accept credit cards, the card issuers require them to follow the coding as best to their knowledge since different transactions are considered higher risk and affect pricing. There are no such standards for banking because cash transactions between institutions and merchants are far less risky or subject to fraud.

the fear and panic this could cause will be worse than anything else..

i can see the "public service announcements now".... if you gamble illegally offshore, you will be prosecuted..

kinda like they do for stealing cable TV service...... one little announcement like this and bam, half the people quit.....

Prosecuted?

Both Congressman Goodlatte and Senator Frist have said this law does not make it illegal to place bets.
