Wanted to give an update. I'm 3 weeks sober, and I have lost 3 pounds so far. Was running, but stopped because of an infection that put me on the sidelines for a week or so. Will get back into the cardio program and I am pleased with my progress thus far.

I weigh the most I ever have now. I hate it. I never used to be overweight, but I certainly am now. Have been for bout 3 years.

I know what I need to do, just havnt done a good job of doing it. I do exercise ( running) but I have just been maintaining a weight, not losing. Actually gained about 8 pounds in the last year.

I am going to really try over the next month, when I really try, I do lose weight.

you are right about that...Some thing struck me today at the gym...

The day i signed up, i could have sworn i saw like 10 or more obese people signing up and shit. But nowadays, when i go to the gym, i only see a couple of folks here and there and all seem like new faces..

All i can say is that i am not going to wait until my shit explodes and my gut is hanging around my knees...

Gyms can be intimidating, i am just glad i am not fat!!!!

This is a great thread as I am also trying to lose weight. I am about 50 overweight right now and just recently have felt my knees giving a bit more since I feel my body starting to break down from the undue stress.

I am going to follow you GB and take this one day at a time. As I once read from Zig Ziglar who talked about how he lost alot of weight...he set a daily goal of losing (I can't remember exactly but it was about) 2 ounces a day. That doesn't sound like much and when 10 months past he lost all the weight he wanted to lose.

Thanks GB for getting me off my A$$!! Keep us updated on your progress.

GreenDoberman,

In my quest to get fit and healthy (not saying I'm there yet...but am on my way) I found a couple things that have helped. Maybe they can help you too.

I take Vitamin B12 sublingual (under the tongue) daily. Some people get a real energy zap out of this - I don't get the zap, but my doc told me that Vit B12 helps in many ways (including weight loss)

The other thing I take daily is a supplement called "Hoodia". I first found out about hoodia on 60 minutes. Apparently these tribesman in South Africa have been taking it forever. It comes from a cactus like plant and they take it to suppress their appetite and literally go days without food while out on hunts etc. The idea for people like us of course is not to go days without food - however, if you take it 20 min before each meal, it seems to trigger that "full" feeling and I eat a lot less at sit-down meals. No side effects - and no adverse interactions with other meds etc.

Not sure where in Vegas you can get Hoodia (most health food stores). I picked up my sublingual B12 at Rite Aid on tropicana.

Best of luck!

Old habits may die hard...but they still die.

Remember seeing something about a drug like this somewhere.. The story was about how some pharmaceutical stole the drug and marketed it and left out the tribe..They sued and won or something like that..

My one question about this is, does this drug also stop the internal digestive processes? IE, will your stomach not produce the acids and enzymes it normally produces to digest food if you take this drug? Otherwise starving yourself like this could result in deadly conditions like ulcers and stomach perforations!!!

I personally have a very weak appetite and the only thing that forces me to eat food is my fear of stomach ulcers!!!

So be careful about whatever you decide to diet with!!!

Ps...I take one centrum pill every day!!! Cant say i notice much of a difference but i guess this kind of stuff takes time to work or something!!!

Good replies and keep it up guys. The truth is some stressors at work have had me thinking about breaking open a bottle of wine to relax, but I read this thread and will make an effort to abstain.

I want to be an example to the others that read this. Still have a goal of losing a pound a week and am right on the money so far.

Looks like the IP stuff I gave out may soon be collector's items. Hang on to them fellas, they might be worth lots of money on eBay one day.

I bombed out all of this week!!! Went to the gym only once. On tuesday,

didnt go Wednesday because of a dentist appointment that involved getting high on his toot!!

Seems like the fatigue i was a feeling earlier this week was the onset of a flu or my sinuses acting up!!!

I am speculating that this happened because of a huge change in temperature from an average of about 97 to about 75 or something!!! I run my a/c really really high because i cant sleep a wink at even what most would call normal room temperature..And yes i have woken up many times with pretty much dried up eyes and cracked lips and some times sinus troubles

But i wont despair that easy..I will try and go to the gym on the property and just lift some weights right before kick off!!!

Gotta catch the titans whoop aZZ on the 9ers!!!

Next week, i vow to go to the gym for at least 4 days!!!
