US Airways has apologized after a flight attendant reportedly refused to hang an Army Ranger's uniform jacket in the aircraft's closet.
WSOC-TV reported that First Sgt. Albert Marle was boarding US Airways Flight 1930 between Portland, Ore. and Charlotte Thursday when he asked the attendant if she could hang up his jacket to keep it from wrinkling. The flight attendant refused, claiming that the closet was for first-class passengers only.
An airline spokesman initially claimed that there was not enough space in the closet for the jacket, but passengers disagreed.
"She kept saying it was against company policy…it wasn't against company policy," first-class passenger Cliff Autrey told "Fox & Friends" Saturday. He said enlistees like Marle deserve everyone's support.
Another first-class passneger told WSOC that her "I was really appalled at not only the way she looked at him but the way she spoke to him in an angry type of attitude."
The station reported that Marle took his seat, declining offers to swap places with first-class passengers.
Marle's parents told the station that their son has been wearing his uniform at job interviews around the country and say his dream is to become a doctor.
Late Friday, US Airways apologized for the incident and said it was reviewing the incident. "We have a long and proud history of serving our military members and hold the men and women who serve our country in the highest regard," the airline's statement said, in part.
A spokesman also said the airline was trying to get in touch with Marle and thank him for his service.

Maine Forward ad

BY: Brent Scher

The Democratic Governors Association has again run into trouble with one of the ads it is funding, this time using a picture of a man employed by a company that has praised Maine Republican Governor Paul LePage to represent one of the state’s unemployed.
The ad comes from Maine Forward PAC, a group funded largely by the DGA, which threw nearly $1 million into the group in September alone. The DGA was one of the founding organizations for the PAC, along with some of Maine’s largest labor unions.
The ad attempts to paint a somber picture of Maine’s economic situation, and blames LePage for the state’s 40,000 unemployed individuals. But the main image used to represent the unemployed is a man named Roger Gay who is not unemployed at all.
Here Gay is, shown to be unemployed:
‘Moving Again’ ad in Maine
Not only does Gay have a job, but his employer, General Dynamics, has praised the economic policies of LePage’s administration.
The company was featured in Mainebiz as one of the companies that has greatly benefitted from economic initiatives created by LePage.
“It’s nice to know there are these initiatives going on that are going to address the need to develop the work force,” said Chuck Bates, a manager at General Dynamics, referring to a work-force development strategy crafted by LePage designed to address Maine’s worker skill gap.
“Five years ago those initiatives weren’t there,” Bates said. “Companies like ours were kind of left to pull together their own method of how they were going to get people into their workplace and train them to be productive.”
When approached, Gay confirmed that it is his image used in the ad. When asked whether he found the ad to be misleading, he said that he does, according to audio of the conversation provided to the Free Beacon.
State Republicans that noticed the flap said they were glad that the Democrats chose to feature somebody that had benefitted from LePage’s policies.
“The Democrats certainly made an interesting choice when casting their negative attack ad against Gov. LePage,” said Maine Republican Party spokesman David Sorensen. “Republicans are happy that Mr. Gay and his employer have benefited from the governor’s economic reforms and we agree with him that Congressman Michaud is beholden to an entrenched party apparatus.”
This is also not the first time that the DGA has been attached to an ad that badly fails to vet the images it includes in its ads. An attack ad funded by the DGA in Arizona used four stock photos of actors and presented them as victims of Republican Doug Ducey’s business career.

Rep. Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.) with President Barack Obama / AP

Democratic Rep. Cheri Bustos of Illinois is airing a new ad stating that her family has seen “tough times” and that they sometimes “sit around the table and tighten our belt.” Her financial disclosures tell a much different story.
Bustos’ new ad says that she and her husband would work opposite shifts to “feed our boys.”
“Like a lot of families, we’ve seen good times, and tough times,” says Bustos. “We’d sit around the table and tighten our belt when needed.”

This has been a theme for Bustos since she first ran for office in 2011.
“If you’re wondering what’s motivating me to run for Congress,” she said in a 2011 campaign speech. “I believe what we need are more every day people, who are raising families on two incomes, who clip coupons before they go to the grocery store, and who have to balance their checkbooks.”
However, Bustos was estimated to have a net worth of more than $3.6 million in 2011, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
In 2011, she brought in two salaries, one from Iowa Health Systems worth $214,229 and one from Iowa communications firm ZLR Ignition worth $60,049, according to her financial disclosure statement as a candidate in 2012.
Her salary in 2010 from the Iowa Health System alone was $306,295, including bonuses.
Her husband’s salary as a police officer is not disclosed on the forms. The value of his pension is also not listed, with the explanation that the “value [will be] determined at retirement.”
Bustos won her election in Illinois’ 17th district in 2012 and the family bought a condominium in Washington, D.C., in December of that year. Records show that the Capitol Hill property was purchased by Bustos for $265,000, and is now valued at $281,960.
Bustos currently collects the default salary of $174,000 as a member of the House of Representatives.
Bustos’ attempt to portray her family as one that faces tough financial choices might have something to do with the voters she is relying on for reelection. Last year, the 17th district was the second poorest district in the state of Illinois with a median household income of $41,194, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The Bustos campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

[h=2]Franken’s Attacks on ‘Fat Cat’ Financiers Backfire[/h]Minnesota Democrat invested in opponent’s tax-inverting company as son’s private equity firm opens shop in Caymans

Al Franken / AP

BY: Lachlan Markay
October 16, 2014 2:15 pm

Sen. Al Franken (D., Minn.) is hoping to saddle his Republican challenger with Mitt Romney-esque charges of “vulture corporatism,” but his own investment activities, and those of his son, could blunt those attacks with charges of hypocrisy.
Franken’s campaign has scoured public records for evidence that his opponent, investment banker Mike McFadden, has closed business deals that resulted in layoffs.
“‘The Democrats are going to try and nail McFadden as the incarnation of a Wall Street fat cat, as they did with Mitt Romney,” University of Minnesota political scientist Larry Jacobs told Bloomberg.
The Franken campaign points to a 2012 deal in which McFadden’s firm, Lazard Middle Market, organized a merger that relocated the corporate headquarters of Jazz Pharmaceuticals to low-tax Ireland, a move commonly known as a tax inversion.
McFadden says he was not directly involved in striking the deal, but Franken’s campaign has seized on it. “He knew he was helping an American company dodge paying taxes and is just as culpable for this deal as anyone else,” Franken spokeswoman Alexandra Fetissoff said in August.
Tax inversions have become a rallying cry for Democrats looking to penalize companies that seek to reduce their tax burdens and shore up their populist credentials.
However, Franken’s attack is complicated by the fact that he himself was an investor in Lazard’s parent company.
His stake in the company even came by way of a mutual fund billed as “socially responsible.”
Franken says that his stake in the company was small, and that he did not have control over the mutual fund’s specific investment decisions.
McFadden’s campaign insists that Franken is trying “to demonize anyone’s business background that runs for public office.” Franken says he simply objects to McFadden’s chosen line of work.
“Bad for workers, good for workers—no matter what, he got paid,” the comedian-turned-senator quipped.
While that might be an effective election year line—it took its toll on Republicans’ 2012 presidential nominee—an attack on investment banking might also ensnare Franken’s own son.
“Mike McFadden knew what kind of buyer he would attract when he represented a company in a nation known for being an offshore tax haven,” Franken declared in one of his salvos against McFadden’s business career.
Franken was referring to Ireland. However, a more notorious tax haven, the Cayman Islands, enjoy the business of private equity firm Cohesive Capital Partners.
Joseph Franken, the senator’s son, is a senior associate at the firm, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission show that Cohesive has two private equity funds that, while headquartered in New York City, are incorporated in the Cayman Islands.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Caymans are “a favorite destination for private-equity managers to locate new partnerships, mostly because foreign investors can participate while avoiding some U.S. tax entanglements.”
One of Cohesive’s funds, Cohesive Capital Partners II (Offshore), L.P., was incorporated this year. The other was formed in 2010.
Franken’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment by press time.

Biden's got to be hypocrite of the week. The guy has his finger prints all over some of the most Draconian drug laws on the books. I wonder if his son will be looking at a mandatory minimum sentence, like others who's lives have been ruined by over zealous drug laws.

[h=2]Seattle Socialist Group Pushing $15/Hour Minimum Wage Posts Job With $13/Hour Wage[/h]SHARE

Seattle-based group The Freedom Socialist Party, which owns socialism.com andregularly campaigns for a $15/hour minimum wage, advertised a job on Wednesday that offers just $13 an hour.
The group has taken particular interest in campaigning for a higher minimum wage in Seattle, where the posted job is located.
The advertised job’s Indeed.com description says that the wage is negotiable depending on experience, but the group has said that living wage must start at at least $15–not $13 or $14 an hour.
“Seattle livable? Not hardly! The Seattle fight has moved from the streets to City Hall. In May, new Mayor Ed Murray, Democrat, announced his proposal for $15/hour — for some workers, after several years. Healthcare, tips, and other ‘compensation’ would be calculated into their ‘income.’ In short, Mayor Murray’s plan caters to big business,” the group wrote in June.
They also accused big businesses of showing ‘phony concern’ for small businesses.
“The campaign for a $15 minimum wage could expose big business’ phony concern for small businesses by demanding solutions that correct the huge tax imbalance between corporations and genuinely small businesses,” the group wrote.
Looks like the Freedom Socialist Party is also having issues with phony concern.
A screencap of the job description is below.

[h=1]Obama Administration Lied About Crimes Committed by Released Illegal Immigrants[/h] 434

The Obama Administration lied last year when they informed Congress and the public that the 2,200 people that the Administration released from incarceration to save money had only minor criminal records.
USA TODAY, gaining the data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through the Freedom of information Act, reports that some of the illegal immigrants had been charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking, and homicide.

GOP members were furious when the data was released. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had told Congress that the inmates who were released were “low-risk offenders who do not have serious criminal records.” Records reveal that ICE was readying itself for budget cuts in February 2013 when it released the immigrants, only two-thirds of whom had no criminal records.

After the new information was released, ICE spokeswoman Gillian Christensen protested, "Discretionary releases made by ICE were of low-level offenders. However, the releases involving individuals with more significant criminal histories were, by and large, dictated by special circumstances outside of the agency's control."

Sen. John McCain, R-AZ., weighed in that it was "deeply troubling that ICE would knowingly release thousands of undocumented immigrant detainees – many with prior criminal records – into our streets, while publicly downplaying the danger they posed."

Normally, ICE releases immigrants with serious criminal records only if their legal status has changed or if they cannot be deported. Every illegal immigrant held in jail costs ICE an average of $122 a day. Last year, GOP members asked ICE Director John Morton for specifics about the immigrants the agency had released. Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-VA, asked Morton, "No one on that list has been charged or convicted with murder, rape or sexual abuse of a minor, were they?" Morton responded, "They were not." He added that none of the released immigrants had been charged with child pornography charges. White House spokesman Jay Carney echoed that the prisoners who were released were "low-risk, non-criminal detainees."

Yet an ICE spreadsheet reveals one immigrant from Texas had been charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexually assaulting a child, and others had charges including armed assaults or assaulting police officers. One immigrant had been charged with conspiracy to commit homicide. Two more had charges of aggravated assault using a weapon, amd another had been charged with sexual assault.

ICE will not confirm whether the charges resulted in convictions.

Morton had informed Congress that of the over 2,200 immigrants ICE released, 629 had criminal records, all of them misdemeanors "or other criminals whose prior conviction did not pose a violent threat to public safety."

Of course, Morton did not mention the 144 other released immigrants who were filed under "special issues." They were largely released because ICE had six months to jail them legally if the agency could not deport them.

Homeland Security’s inspector general went to great lengths to ensure the Administration would escape culpability, writing in August that ICE was so hurried from the budget cuts that neither the White House or then-Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano knew what was going on. The report went further than that, insisting that ICE officials acted "appropriately."

Gary Mead, who headed ICE's detention operation, claimed that if the wrong data had been fed to Congress or the public, it was just a mistake. He added, "We had been asking for some time whether we would have enough money to sustain the level of detention we had, and we didn't get an answer. When we did get an answer, it was that we had to start releasing people today."

No conservative is clamoring for more prisons or to invade more countries. Maybe next time try
for something that has more truth to it?

The guy in the photo isn't representative of conservatives, at least that's not my take, but more the uneducated tea party guy. And yes they do exist.

[h=1]My Oh My, What Do We Have Here?’: What Ferguson Police Found on Missouri Democrat Who’s Sponsored Several ‘Anti-Gun’ Bills[/h]Oct. 26, 2014 7:19pm Dave Urbanski

TheBlaze posted a story earlier this week about the arrest of Missouri state Senator Jamilah Nasheed during a protest outside the Ferguson Police Department.
Nasheed has sponsored several anti-gun bills, but ironically, upon her arrest, she was found carrying a loaded 9mm handgun and extra rounds of ammunition. Police also claimed that she smelled of “intoxicants,” but she refused to take a breathalyzer test. After her arrest, Nasheed claimed she wasn’t intoxicated and said she is a legal concealed carry permit holder.

Nasheed was charged with failure to obey lawful order of police and manner of walking in the roadway after she and other protesters refused to get out of the street. Nasheed called the arrest symbolic and said it was a “message to the protesters that we can protest peacefully and that we must protest peacefully and that we want justice for Michael Brown.”
