why wouldn't i point out the missed corner?...it directly lead downfield to the only goal of the match?

The goal was a full minute or so later. If you make a connection between these events then you also have to consider that by that time Holland should have been one or two players short which would probably have decided the game even earlier.

i realize you are german and can't stand the clogs but the spanish 'diving team' was just as big a disgrace as the dutch barbarian tactics....and how can you say a goal or both by robben would have been undeserved?...why would they be undeserved?...i get it, u hate the dutch...but to say the goals would have not been warranted just seems like sour grapes cuz yer team was playing in the consolation game...

What is your problem, man? Can't you imagine someone having an objective opinion just because he favours one side?
If you really think Holland deserved to win this game then evidently you have watched another match than I did. As I wrote before, Holland did almost nothing creative, they were relying purely on fortunate situations to somehow get a goal. Spain was obviously the better team for almost all of the 120 minutes.

Of course, football is not about deserving to win, in the end it's only about scoring one goal more than the other side. Had Kroos put Germany in front in the semis we might have won the game and it would not have mattered to me in the least that Spain was the better team. But I would at leats have been objective enough to admit that we didn't really deserve the win.

no problem here at all...opinions are always welcome...you come off very anti-holland is all...if you read what i wrote..i agreed that de jong and van bommel should have been tossed..as well as robben in overtime... but don't try and convince me that holland didn't create chances...maybe there weren't as many as there could have been but there were enuff to have warranted a goal or two....

Spoke to a few dutch guys after the match while celebrating and they were not happy at all with the way their team played. They felt that they resorted to trying to win ugly rather than taking the game to spain in an attacking way instead of just being aggressive. I think Mourinho showed the world what you need to do when he beat Barca in the champions league. Whilst you have to be aggressive you also need to commit players forward whenever you can as the spanish midfielders and full backs often can be in advanced positions. Holland for me seemed to be too reliant on Robben creating something on his own. Agree with you that RVP was very dissapointing and Huntelaar should have been given a chance.

honestly if they keep van pussy, he needs to be paired with someone...he can't be a lone striker...everything i have read in the past 24hrs. hasn't been good...i can't understand the call for van marwijks head(he got us to the wc final!!!)....many want 'total futbol' back regardless of the outcome...that thinking did nothing for us for the last 32 years..some peoples mindsets really are warped...if you go to the dutch futbol home page the rants are so out there i had to stop reading or i would go mad....euro quallies start in a month and a half...gonna be interesting to see the squad we are gonna stay with or start over with...i for one would rather win than play beautiful and lose...but that's just me...cheers

Well that's what the dutch have been aiming at during the final, but they lost. So in the end, people will remember Holland as a dirty team in the final. If you focus just on winning it's an "all or nothing" situation, whereas if you play nicely and fair, you win a lot, even though you lose the game.

people can call them whatever..it makes no difference to me...but i bet it will wear on some of the players that participated, eventually...which is a shame...cuz they got to the final playing gritty..now i have a feeling we are gonna go back to total futbol just to appease the masses,,,i can only report what i see and read...i am not there in person to hear ho the public is viewing this team..haven't been back to my place of birth in 34 years....cheers

If you focus just on winning it's an "all or nothing" situation, whereas if you play nicely and fair, you win a lot, even though you lose the game.

The Spanish had a saying for the national team 'jugamos como nunca, perdiamos como siempre' which can be used for the dutch as well. 'We play like never (before), we lose like always'. The dutch players are brought up playing football a certain way and I dont think they should betray their roots. Just like Spain they need to persevere until the right generation of players come along.
