Interesting how this day was created by Ronald Reagan in 1983 and first observed in 1986

I could only imagine how this website would have reacted back then?
When most blacks take responsibility for their own existences we'll have reached Martin Luther King's dream.

The majority of whites bought into MLK's narrative and have come a long way. Have the blacks?

Slow Joe made Juneteeth a holiday, incredibly stupid and racial. Nobody, not even blacks knew WTF he was talking about.

Why not immancipation proclamation day? Would make a lot more sense.

I don't mind MLK day. Just stop attacking the Founding Fathers, Christopher Columbus, law enforcement and me

^ 30 years from now, we will see that Joe made this a holiday even though his buddy DJT is the one who should the credit for bringing awareness to the date (press conference in Tulsa).

Curious to know how many people will take the day off for this "holiday". In 2021, this day was on a Saturday. In 2022, this day was on a Sunday. But what happens in 2023 when its on a weekday? If you want to use your vacation time, then fine. But will banks or other businesses shut down?

I still remember last October, i was at the drive through at the bank the Friday before Columbus day weekend and there was a sign saying the bank would be open for Indigenous peoples day. I literally had to look up on my phone what holiday that was.
