I played High school football, not that it matters.. it's a rather simple statement I made.. getting hit with a helmet on still hurts... if you are saying the opposite, then i guess you just much more of a badass man than i can ever be

I think Hockey will continue to grow...

I'm kind of surprised a new sports has creeped in... soccer I don't see getting much bigger in the US... Nascar will always be limited by safety...
Hockey and Lacrosse have grown substantially here in the South in the past 10-15 years. NASCAR is as safe as it ever has been. Sounds weird, but to make it safer, they should let the engines roar and take the restricter plates back off. More accidents with reduced speeds and car clutter.

I started about half of a season at JV.... I wasn't very good. too underweight, not strong enough to play DE...

What stopped my playing days was head trama... so I'm not only speaking from common sense angle but also from a personal standpoint..

furthermore, are you aware that there are districts where if you are ever diagnosed with a concussion you are required to purchase your own special helmet.. not provided by the program in many of the instances?... It's a step in the right direction, but still a long way to go...

hate me all you want... but this is a very strange time to take a stand on something I say...

back then it was option rushing attacks we mostly faced .. my goal was to always have outside contain. If the TE ever got his hands on me, I was in trouble. My job was to set the edge. I sucked at it. In passing downs, I was put in to blitz... I had to get the jump... I was okay at that.

My favorite football story.. my first start at the JV level, playing an away game that happened to be in my grandfathers county. So excited... first play of the game, they drop back. I murder the quarterback. Hardest hit I deliver all year.... Apparently the Quarterback no longer had the ball... ref threw the flag at me. I can still hear his voice saying "Not smart son, not smart"... 15 yard roughing... I was benched for the rest of the first half haha

I wish I continued to play as my senior year our school won State Championship, school's first ever in football

Back on topic, I'm really curious to see other peoples thoughts...

I think medicine and injuries and preventative measures will probably go through a drastic change

I don't know how much technology will have a role in judgement calls. Balls/Strikes..... 1st downs ect...

What else yall got

MMA has emerged as a top sport.

Maybe something else will grow.

MLS has potential yet again, we will see.

Maybe they will pay CFB players over the table.

nothing grows UNLESS people are PAID OFF,,, case in point,,, FKN MMA,,, kindof interesting how its the biggest PPV in the world, YET its taken 20 years relegated to the back of the bus,,, begrugengly getting its due,,, and ironicly NY still doesnt think its a sport?? hmmm,,, I wonder why?

same is true with soccer,,, scum bags gotta be paid,,

You can bet soccer everywhere in Europe......wait until most states have legalized sports betting, the NFL will show itself in fixing games with billions of dollars being bet legally just like in soccer.

in terms of the leagues, the top 3 will stay the same, 1. NFL 2. NBA 3. MLB. nba passed mlb several years ago and will continue to pass it (demos, nba finals beating world series for the past 5 seasons, team valuations, tv contracts) all prove that in my favor.

i've said numerous times the NHL will be replaced by MLS as the 4th league by the end of the decade and I'm on track to being right. MLS is expanding, and the demographics trend towards soccer over hockey.

for sure we'll see more interactivity in these arenas to get people to go to the stadiums instead of watching a game in front of the hd tv. live fantasy stats, wifi, etc. will be common everywhere.

the goal of sports is going to continue moving towards a first person perspective. by 2030 you are going to see the players perspective of what is happening through some chip put in a players eye that could easily be washed out like a contact lense. that lense will have surround sound and hd viewing capability so the viewer can see exactly from the players perspective.

I don't agree that basketball is more popular than baseball because of finals ratings. WS ratings are a disappointment though.

ESPN will crater when enough people dump cable TV, and the massive rights fees paid by ESPN will disappear, damaging the leagues and sports they own and cover.

Advances in medicine is the most obvious answer.

Of all the debate on instant replay, having a computer call balls and strikes seems to be the most obvious of bringing technology into games. The strike zone is so much smaller than I remember it.

Teams will stop having these running backs trying to play quarterback in the NFL. It just doesn't work. It's like drafting the 7'2" 185 pound Chinese Center. It never works.

Peyton Manning's passing records will be broken within 15-20 years as guys develop earlier than they have before plus with advancement in medicine/ likely more games and more protection afforded to the qb.
