Hello Railbird,
Thank you for the welcome to theprescription.
Although, it states that I only have 4 posts,
I've been visiting this site for a few years.
There's quite a few outstanding posts on handicapping.
Both theprescription and MW have some very good posters
with solid insights.
I know that many posters at MW miss you posting there.
If this case comes to trail, these incidences you
mention may very well be brought up to show Kobe's
propensity towards violence and general character.
Whether or not it's admissible is another question.
Given the physical nature of the game, with all the
shoving and elbowing used to gain positioning and with
the stakes involved at the NBA level, players lashing out
at one another in the heat of battle is to be expected.
How much weight this is given will vary with each juror.
As will the fact that he had an "inappropriate"
relationship with his current wife when she was 16.
Some jurors may simply view them as being High School
sweethearts in Love. Kobe wasn't that much older than
her and they did get married.
Would have to agree with your 6th point. He has gotten
a better about it. To be fair, when Shaq was out and
his teammates were struggling offensively, he may have
felt that he had to do it all. Great offensive players
are rarely shy about putting the rock up.
NBA players have women swarming all around them, waiting
in their hotel lobbies, slipping them their room keys.
I know you've heard all the stories. They have more than
enough money to hire "escorts". Why would they need to
force the issue?
Consider Mike Tyson's rape trail. I believe that there
may have been a serious miscarriage of justice.
For one, Ms. Washington was caught lying and made
statements prior to going out with Tyson indicated that
she may have very well been planning to set him up.
Unfortunately for Mike, his general treatment of women,
the fact that the trial was in a conservative state and
a very poor defense all worked against him. The point I'm
making is that it is "possible" that the accuser initially
consented, then after acquired a "DNA" sample she then cried
rape. This would immediately bring her instant international
recognition(her name will be released/leaked eventually),
financial offers from tabloids, TV shows like Hard Copy,
book/movie rights and $$$ from Kobe in a civil suit.
To be fair, she may be telling the truth without any dubious
motives.
Both Kobe and the accusers reputations are on the line.
Their lives will never be the same.
We owe it to both of them to be as fair and impartial
as possible before coming to any judgments.
thanks,
baz
