TF, of course they knew who was on the flight by checking the manifest. They had that info. But, names on a manifest doesn't mean that's who is on the AC when it crashed. What if three people got off the helo when it made a stop halfway to the final destination?

They have to confirm exactly who was on the helo by identification then make the NOK notifications. As you know, this takes time.

News outlets aren't waiting on that process to happen.
