Utah Has a Nice Team

But anyone who thinks they would be 1 or 2 in the SEC doesn`t know CFB. How would they do for example if in a 7 wk stretch they had to play LSU, Tenn, @Ark, Fla, & @Auburn this was what Ga. faced. Utah has not had 7 gms in a row, but do have NC, UNLV, SDS, CSU, Wyo, BYU. No comparison! The point being that the schools in the major conferences have to go against this sort of thing all the time. And what separates them from the MT West, WAC, etc. is the attrition factor. IT WEARS YOU DOWN! Utah s/b in the Cotton or Holiday or any 2nd tier bowl. Would love to see them play ND giving about 10-14. And I hate ND.

I also feel that the Big East should no longer be part of the forumla. West Virginia has no business going to a big bowl game.
I couldnt agree more....what needs to happen is the Big East is dropped from the BCS conferences. That at-large bid is then given to the highest ranked mid-major team in the BCS standings, big east included. Big East teams would still have a great chance to make it each year, but this gives teams like Utah and Boise a real good shot at getting a BCS berth.

I agree, I don't think people take the attrition factor into consideration. I don't doubt that Utah has a talented team like most everyone here has stated. But could they go through the Big 12 or SEC conferences and get banged up a little and still win the way they do? In my opinion no, because Utah is still a mid-major team who doesn't get the amount of high quality players as say a OU or Texas. That means the talent drops off significatly after a starter gets hurt. As a follower of the Sooners I've seen several players go down this year and the team barely misses a beat. That's because the players waiting in the wings still have the speed and talent to compete. I doubt seriously if Utah has that kind of deep talent. If you live in a major conference your sure to expierence some injuries. Generally it's the major teams with the most talent and the least amount of injuries who end up winning their conferences.
After going through the rigors of conference play I hate to see major conference teams get snubbed out by a team who's 9 games has been against teams with records of 6-3, 2-7, 2-7, 4-5, 5-4, 4-5, 2-7, 2-7, 3-6. Not very many powerhouses in that bunch. I still believe in the old fashion way of earning your way to the BCS. I don't believe Utah has played enough high quality teams to earn their way there.
