HinesWard86 said:Most impressive offseason in football history? Really? Let's take a look at the 1974 Steelers draft and see if you can still make that assertion.
Round Pick Overall
1 21 21 Lynn Swann WR USC
2 20 46 Jack Lambert LB Kent State
4 4 82 John Stallworth WR Alabama A&M
4 22 100 Jimmy Allen DB UCLA
5 21 125 Mike Webster C Wisconsin
I don't know how you judge talent but drafting 4 Hall of Famers in one draft is pretty freaking impressive. This gets my vote for greatest offseason ever....was the final piece that set up 4 Super Bowls.

CHOPTALK said:Besides the Bears are the best team in 20 years part, and the fact that you misquoted me on the Jerry Rice thing, I stand 100% behind all those comments.
I said Drew Breese is the best QB in the league this season.
Can you name a better one?
The Saints had one of the best drafts in football history this year. 4 starters out of 7 picks.
BUSH ROY canidate
Ramon Harper all-rookie team till he got hurt.
Jari Evans (considered the best offensive rookie lineman in the NFL according to most NFL scouts)
Colston- ROY canidate, despite messing 3.5 games.
7th round pick (the other 7th round pick ZACH STIFE, the only reason he is not starting is because he is behind our all pro Jamal Brown in the DEPTH chart. He started one game due to a Brown injury, and Payton could not contain himself how exited he was over his play. He is also a future stud.
Signed Drew Breese, when Culpepper was the popular choice.
What am I missing here? That is the most impressive offseason in football history.
What more could he have done in 1 year.
This does not even count the fact that he made a trade last draft to move down 8 picks in the 3rd round to get another 3rd round pick next year.
The Saints have a 1st, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, a 5th, 2 6ths, and a 7th round pick in April on top of all else hes done this year.
Colston still managed to have more TDS than Boldin, still has a chance for more yards than Bolden.
HinesWard86 said:Once again I have to point out that you actually said something. This is becoming rather tedious. You said this was the best offseason in NFL history, you are wrong. Also, I never said that you said that Brees was the best QB ever, look above I said that you earlier posted that Brees was the best player in the league this year when he clearly isn't. You say that I misquote but you sir take the cake in this regard. Yes, I was wrong about your opinion on Reggie Bush but I redacted that and acknowledged my mistake.....hmmm acknowledging mistakes....that is something you haven't learned to do yet.
CHOPTALK said:Im talking about my original comments.
You made the Mickey Loomis comment before I even made the follow up comment that you so Fonted up!
I did not have a list of every draft in the history of the NFL in front of me when I made that comment. Its almost impossible to come up with a definite best draft ever.
I suppose if I cared enough, and tried hard enough, I could probably find a draft even better than the one Pittsburgh had that year.
The whole point was, the Saints had one of the best offseasons in the history of football last season, and that cannot be disputed no matter how hard you try.

Journeyman said:Chop you can't possibly get better than drafting 4 HOFers in one draft.
Has there ever been 4 HOFers with the top 5 picks in an entire draft? Let alone by one team.
CHOPTALK said:Thats one hell of an impressive draft.
There is a chance that, that is the best draft ever, despite the fact that I think Stallworth and Swan are 2 of the most overated HOFers in NFL history. That still does not take away from the fact that they were great players regardless.
You have to also take into consideration the entire offseason.
You have to include Brees into the Saints offseason mix to.
BREESE
BUSH
COLSTON
EVANS
HARPER
FUJITA
Thats pretty impressive for one offseason.
CHOPTALK said:Chicago had a pretty decent draft in 65.
Gyle Sayers and Dick Butkus.
Journeyman said:Okay that is about half of what Pittsburgh did in '74, Lambert every bit as good as Butkus, Swann , Stallworth or Webster every bit as good as Sayers was...Webster retired as the best center of alltime.
Bush and Colston could very well go down as two alltime greats, time will tell.
foreignlegion said:Saints can make it to the superbowl....where they will get buried by either
sandiego or baltimore..
If by some chance, the pats, colts, are in the superbowl, then they have a chance
foreignlegion said:Bush could go down as all time great at what? exactly...He is not a running back or a reciever..
