ComputerGroup and phdinsports have it all figured out.

The conspiracy is so so great that Goodell suspended their franchise QB for 4 games last year just to give the appearance nothing was going on right?

This play happens every single week in NFL. If you make a catch while going to the ground you have to survive the ground.

The ball clearly hits the ground and spins as the receivers hand moves. That's not allowed in the rules.

Complain ain't about the rule if you like. But claiming conspiracy is just simply retarded.

Where did I say conspiracy? Just friends in high places. Enables the cheats to continue to get away with cheating. If the NFL had an once of integrity like say MLB, Brady wouldn't have a chance in getting into the HOF. Here I'll spell it out to you, guys like Bonds and Clemens, GOATS, never caught with anything, and even if they did use 'roids it wasn't a banned substance by mlb in the 90's have virtually no shot in getting into the hall! Yet these scumbags player/coach get caught cheating twice and basically get a slap on the wrist! That's where it's beneficial to have friends in high places!

Simple as this....if it is STILL a rule. Then you have to call it incomplete.

Dez bryant 2014 playoffs. That's all you have to say to understand. Didn't complete the process through the ground. While it was being reviewed I said they have to call it incomplete or then that would be very confusing if not.

Not even close to the same thing! Bryant bobbled the ball BEFORE crossing the goaline! James's whole body is basically down on the ground, knee, shin, hip, elbow, with the ball in the endzone.

Using your retarded standard of "cheating" no one would be in the hall of fame, because every single team in the NFL has a long list of so-called "cheating."

I know your panties get wadded up into your vagina every time the Patriots win, and every time Brady is acknowledged as the greatest of all time, but
you're just going to have to get used to it, because it's just going to get worse for you.

I absolutely hate the Patriots. However with saying that, I feel it was 100% the right call. The only reason I feel this way is because of the way the rules are written in the official rule book. Now common sense tells us (and the way the game was ruled for decades until the last few years) that it was a catch. Why the NFL went from common sense rules that made it easy to determine a catch & turn it into a complete mess for no legitimate reason is a debate for another time. Either way as much as I hate them, I can't deny that this was the right call & it was not a conspiracy against the Steelers or whatever else is out there.

Thank you... I agree the rule needs changing, but they followed the rule as written. To think it's a conspiracy puts you in the same category as the holocaust deniers, and 911 furthers with their run foil hats.

Why isn't his knee, thigh, and elbow enough to satisfy "survive the ground?"

If he lands on the ground and rolls around for five minutes and then drops the ball, would that be not "surviving the ground?"

It is a shitty rule, but should be interpreted differently in this case.

Well, it's about the ball and he didn't control the ball when he hit the ground. I don't know what else to say, and all the other gibberish is a red herring

I actually think that particular play was an easy interpretation of the rule. One cannot argue he established himself as runner like in the Dez Bryant ruling in the playoff game vs GB

The call followed the rule book, and they make a call like that multiple times every Sunday.

I think they even took away a TD from Megatron when he left the ball on the ground when he jumped up to celebrate.

It's about a combination of the rule book and slow motion high definition replay, and every team has to deal with that stuff

I always thought that this place had very intelligent, smart people...

This thread is showing me there are some real non intelligent people here.

These rules were written about 8-10 years ago so it would be more black and white, so there would be less controversy, in deciding what is a catch and what is not a catch.
The one and only reason there is so much issue is because people are thinking how the rules used to be and how things were called concerning a catch.
These rules are not changing or going away so learn them and get used to them.

This is how a reception will be determined moving forward.

Heard multiple people talking about this, who would know the NFL's thoughts about the rules concerning a reception or not..
Said NFL is happy with the rules as they are now because it makes things easier for the officials to determine a catch or no catch,
it's the idiot public moron's that need to learn and understand the rules...

This post proves how many illiterate dolts there are on this forum and in the NFL fan base

The rule is fine you need to catch the ball without help from the ground

The only reason you think it was a catch in the old days was because you couldn't see it hit the ground

Without replay the wrong team would of won this game

The goal is to get it right and they did

We all noticed that you can't dispute anything on that web page, because it's all truth. And you know it.

So, you trying to deflect isn't fooling anyone.

What's there to deflect on this biased site!?!? It's more biased than CNN! Oh but wait, sparky you're going to counter that it's all third party sources, and you're going to give yourself another pat on the back! Well sparky the ranking system is totally biased! Patriots are number one when it comes to cheating! And here are third party sources that dispute that biased site!

Get proven wrong resort to name calling! Speaking of illiterate I'll spell it out to you one last time! Every single pic, video clip, shows James hand under the ball! If someone can get a pic or clip from the other side of Patsfan's pic, that CLEARLY SHOWS the ball on the ground with no part of his hand underneath the ball then you have 100% clear irrefutable evidence to overturn the original call. It's not beyond a reasonable doubt as is the case in our courtrooms it has to be 100% clear to overturn the original call. Reply must show the ball is on the ground with no hands underneath and no control of the ball!
