How do you prove it when someone steals almost $6k in cash from you?

Unless you can get them to admit it on tape, there is absolutely nothing you (or the cops) can do about it. Do consider the possibility that your GF took it, knowing you would blame others.

I was thinking the same thing about the possibility of your girl taking it. That probably isn't the case just for the fact alone that they aren't answering or returning your calls. I would be livid. Total disrespect. Kicking his ass could only get you in legal trouble unless you pay someone to do it for you. Just have to be smart about it.

Was this some of the money you won in the LVH contest? If so pretend you won 6k less.

My girls brother and his girlfriend stayed the night couple of days ago, and after they left (about 6-7 hours later) I went to get some cash out of my drawer and it was all gone.

They wont answer any calls from relatives of friends, and don't know the whereabouts at all.

How do I prove they did it? What repercussions do I have?

This sucks... close to $6k gone in the blink of an eye.....

Any update? I see you've been posting in other threads but not this one..

6th place in the LVH Supercontest, nice work...pal.

My sister is married to a Clark County lead investigator...I know your name real name, I can mention it to him and see what he recommends. I'll be talking to him on the phone in the AM. He's a real asshole.

Still no word from them, and their phones go right to voicemail. Checked the local casinos where they supposedly hang out and nothing yet. They will turn up sooner or later... and KARMA IS A BITCH!!

I have never understood the KARMA thing.
Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people all the time.

I hate to say this but leaving 6K in such an accessible place is so stupid.

That does not make them less evil for stealing it but come on man.
Thats just so dumb.

It was in my nightstand drawer, which I thought was a safe place as I have always kept quite a bit of money for years, with no problems what-so-ever. But, lesson learned on my part and will invest in a safe of some sort that's not easy to carry sometime in the future. They have stayed the night a few times before with no problems, and have always left them alone in the house for a couple hours at a time before.

Guess that's what I get for trusting people and giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Did they stay in the room where the money was?

Yea man.
Couple of hundred understood, but once you get out of that 3 to 4 hundred range you need to find a better solution then a night stand.

You can buy a really nice safe for 6K.

Good luck.

repercussions? there's way too many variables here and more detail is needed.

how old are you and your gf? how long have you been together? do you guys live together? do you generally pool your money together?

how old is your gf's brother? how old is his gf? how long have they been together?

does your gf, her brother, or her brother's gf have any kind of criminal past? are any of those three in debt or drug users?

why are you so convinced it was her brother or his gf who stole it, rather than your gf?

how do you know you weren't robbed by an intruder?

What wasn't answered and to me is a key is where other drawers/dressers rummaged through. Did your GF know that you kept the money there? If so, she'd be my suspect first and out front. I think there is a lot more to this that either isn't known or isn't being told. Not blaming NFLTrends but this is like swiss cheese.

wow bad situation man. That sucks. They had to have rummaged through your room looking for something to steal. Was anything else missing? unfortunately as you probably already know, money is most likely gone. Chances of you getting it back or any recourse on them is very slim.
I had similar situation, not with stolen cash but with stolen jewelry and other valuables (camera, laptop, cards, comics etc) Had let the girls friend and boyfriend (who we knew for years) stay with us for a few weeks. Which turned into few months, as it always seems to do. Noticed stuff was suddenly missing. I kept old comics and cards from when I was little in shoe boxes in the closet and some under the bed. Was looking for something else one day when I noticed the box looked open, stacks were very thin. I confronted them right away. Tossed them out and realized old laptop was also missing, digital camera gf's jewelry.... Took lots of restraint on my end to not make it physical. Just thinking about it makes me mad

Keep this thread updated though. Would to hear a happy ending here

The bottom line is....IF the cash means that much to you, you'll figure it a way to get it back, one way or another.
