Dude you still don't get it Dems are Republicans. They just pit us against each other. There are very few true conservatives and even less true liberals. DOn't be blinded by their bullshit. You see like a pretty smart guy look through all their bullshit. hey got these jobs with the best benefits and a hell of a retirement plus they position themselves for fat lobbyist jobs when they are out of office. W. Doesn't "control" supply, but refiners and producers do. Just look at what Enron was doing to intentionally drive up the price of electricity for an example of how the price of things can be manipulated.

W does not control the price of oil. W does not control the worldwide distribution. W does not control futures traders.

The price of Oil, like all other commodities, is controlled by supply and demand and either real or anticipated changes in either variable.

If government can simply manipulate the price, why isn't anybody fixing the problem or offering solutions. Thus my Nancy P reference.

Conspiracy no. Just good old boys at the helm of oil companies trying to influence things. I mean since Bush/Cheny got in office gas has almost doubled in price. Oil companies are making record profits. Bush/Cheney have heavy ties to the oil industry, coincidence?

Damn, now Europe is going to hate us more then ever, since W is increasing their prices too.

Oil traders are at a loss, they thought they were doing all the buying and selling. Silly Fools.

To answer tonys question with this thread, I dont think there is any reason to question whether or not the government is manipulating the prices of things such as oil, gasoline, precious metals, bonds, currencies, and major stock market indices.

They definitely ARE manipulating these items.

They have power via printing presses and media to manipulate these things short to intermediate term, but long term they cannot control prices of things such as gasoline.

What's "short to intermediate" term. Because from where I'm sitting, it appears all those indices you referenced seem to have a rather consistent and long term trend.
