I kinda liked the play on Harvard when I first read Homedawg's post. Then I listened to the Sportsmemo radio show as I usually do and heard Brent Crow from Alatex Sports mention that he thought Harvard could possibly pull off the outright win in this game so I decided to get in on this play too. GL to all of us!

this situation in college basketball is something you can't pass up. you don't get the whole west to east very often and when you do you have to capitalize. harvard is a team on the rise under amaker, who had a nationally recognized recruiting class. one of the prized recruits, keith wright, returned last game vs William & Mary after missing 4 games due to injury. that isn't even mentioning their leading scorer, Jeremy Lin, who can score as well as anyone. like most teams they are much better at home, and will have a margin for error, because of the long road trip. for anyone that has played, you know how hard it is to travel from coast to coast, get off the plane and play mistake free basketball. it just doesn't happen. Harvard has athletic big men that contend with Bryant. There is no doubt Bryant will get his, but i still don't think his supporting cast is that good. If anyone watched the UTEP game you saw how many terrible shots UTEP took, and how many bad mistakes they made. Belmont was just content on chucking up 3 pointers. When they got cold in the 2nd half they didn't have a way to score. Harvard are a bunch of smart kids who you don't have to worry about forcing stupid shots. This is a situation that when you see in cbb you have to take advantage of. it doesn't happen that often during the year

also, i probably won't play it, but So Florida is a good play against Syracuse. The Orange, historically are awful in Tampa. Last year, coming off a huge win and rolling along, they needed an important win against the hapless Bulls, and got blasted from start to finish. Line was about the same, and the situation was similar. Something about play there Syracuse just can't seem to get by.

I would definitely take a long hard look at So Florida and you aren't going to find a bigger Syracuse fan than me

Paul Harris might not play as well - seeing as he got 6 stitches on his hand Tuesday. I'd never put my money on such a poor shooting team as South Florida though.

Syracuse/So Florida Under 141.5 -110

Another strong play here. Only 3 So Florida games this season have gone over the set total for tonight. Syracuse, is looked at as a poor defensive team is actually just the opposite. Their defensive numbers are spectacular. They hold opponents to 38% from the field, and 27% from 3. That should be a boat load of problems for a so fla team that struggles mightily on offense as it is. They were supposed to receive a huge boost when transfers Mike Mercer, and Augustus Gilchrist became eligbile, but just the opposite happened. The team lost 4 straight games, and to make things worse Mike Mercer tore his acl a few games ago. Gilchrist is struggling out of the gate, and is only averaging around 6 points a game. Other that Verdejo the Bulls have no legit 3 point shooters to shoot out of the zone. Just like they did Memphis they should pack the zone in and watch the Bulls throw up bricks. So Florida only shoots only 41.8% from the filed and 31% from 3. As for Syracuse their offense has been clicking pretty much all year, but whenever they travel to Tampa they always seem to struggle against the Bulls. Just last year Syracuse was rolling, and SFU was struggling and Syracuse went to town and got blasted. So Fla relies on their defense to win games so you will get a strong defensive effort from the Bulls who are sure to be amped up for their big east opener. I don't see this one getting close to the number

i heard he was playing stitches and all.

He's been practicing - so he probably will. If I was Jimmy I'd keep him on the bench until next Wednesday - giving that cut more than a week to heal. I'd be fine with giving his minutes to Joseph tonight.

I like your under play though.

Scoresandodds.com does a statistical comparison of teams and based on match up gives a line and if the actual line is off a lot it shows the edge they predict. I almost never see enough of a difference to actually have them give an edge to a team but tonight they show Harvard should be at -3 but the actual line opening at +3.5 which gives us an edge with Harvard.

I'm locked in at +3. BOL :toast:
