the sharks can turn it up a notch when they have to at least early this season which is something they were always criticized for the last couple years. this team will be judged by success solely in the playoffs and how far they go which can sometimes be unfair.

this game was big for the oilers especially after that horribly unfortunate loss to FLA on thursday where they get shutout at home despite outshooting FLA 42 -16.

luongo's return draws nearer and the canucks are doing what they wanted to do which was tread water ( 4 - 5 - 1 ) and take advantage of their early season cushion in the NW to still be on top when luongo is back and healthy. they looked OK tonight but they didnt get a couple bounces that could have changed this game and edmonton did. if they get a stick on that puck that roloson made a mess of behind the net instead of the oilers getting an incredible bounce springing nilson for the 3rd goal, who knows. reminds me of the habs game i lost earlier hahaha.

Luongo tweaked and reaggravated his groin in practice this week. From what I heard today on XM, (Alanah from Canucks and Beyond web site), he may be weeks, (or perhaps even months), away from returning.

Vancouver Canuck goaltender Roberto Luongo has experienced soreness in his injured groin and did not join his teammates on a trip to Edmonton for tonight's game against the Oilers.

There had been speculation Luongo could play this weekend, but he left Wednesday's practice after only 20 minutes.

Coach Alain Vigneault said there still is no timetable for Luongo's return.

"For some time he has been feeling some soreness when he has been doing some dynamic exercises on the ice," Vigneault said. "It's not going as quickly as we thought."

i hadnt heard it was as serious as weeks but that is not good news. when he was first injured and i heard it was a groin i figured after xmas was a safe bet. groin injuries really are tricky ( like backs ) and you see all the time when they drag on further than initial estimates
