Boston over 101.5
The Bruins 2nd round loss and the loss of kessel makes this team that much more hungrier IMO. The Bruins are still the cream of this division and they've added Morris on D and the bookmakers are hanging a number 15 points lower than what they finished last season. This team's depth chart is more solid than any team in the league. Is Kessel's loss worth 15 points in the standings? Especially with the division as weak as it is? I'm not buying it. I love this prop.
Calgary over 96.5
Keenan's gone, the RIGHT coach is here to coach arguably the best defense in the league, They went to the finals a few years ago with the same type of makeup. [Good coach, one solid line, tough oppertunistic role players and a very solid D and Kipper] Kipruspff will not be exposed like the last 2 seasons. Winning this bet all rides on Kipper though. The 2 Suters will work well together I feel. Much better than Daryl and Keenan or Daryl and Playfair.
Carolina under 94.5
The Canes overachived last season and Pittsburgh exposed them for what they really are. Ward will have to stand on his head for this team to repeat last seasons success. If Eric Staal wern't on the team this team is absoultly fighting for a playoff spot. When your 2nd pairing defencemen are Aaron Ward and Timmy Gleason, and Brind'Amour and Eric Cole are the 2nd and 3rd best forwards on your team.....your in trouble baby. If this team wasn't showing age last season..they will this year.
Colorado under 72.5
Does this one actually need a writeup?
There isn't an Avs fan in DENVER that feels good about this team. Enough said.
Dallas over 89.5
I've stated earlier why Dallas may be the best play on the board here IMO.
A summer without Avery is like the whole team being on zanex for 3 months. Morrow's back and the bullshit is a thing of the past in Dallas this season.
Detroit under 106.5
Wings never let the other teams control their destany, So I'm not concerned about other teams in the division getting better and taking points from them, but im nowhere near sold on Jimmy Howard being a capable backup. The D will be as good as always and the 1st 2 lines are still top notch. It's the 3rd line and backup goaltending im concerned about as that's been a solid option over the last few years. They'll still be in the thick of things and the team to beat in the West with all their playoff experience but I think the reg. season point total drops enough to risk my money on that.
L.A. over 86.5
The Kings have the personel of a playoff hockey team. If they get any kind of goaltending on a consistant basis they will definatly be a tough out for the first time in years. The addition of Ryan Smyth is exactly what this team needed. An experienced vetrend to follow his lead.
NJ under 96.5
I don't believe the return of Lemaire makes this team any better than last as they are ALREADY a defensive minded team. Brodour is another year older and Clemmonson wont be there to help like last season. This team is just not deep enough to put up 97 points this time around. The loss of Gianta and Madden will expose a lot.
NYI under 70.5
The Isles actually overachieved last season and still got the no.1 pick. I think they'll depend waaay to much on Tavaras right off the bat and have another stinky season.
Ottawa over 83.5
One of my stronger plays on the board. the team is a lot deeper and the goaltending is better than it's been in a very long time. The team seemed to come together once Coulston came into the picture ly. Defence, Goaltending and depth are all much better than last year and the 83.5 is the same amount of points they scored ly in a miserable season. The cancers are gone and they'll focus on hockey this year and getting back to where they belong which is in the playoffs.
Philly under 102.5
The Pronger addition will be huge during the playoffs. More so than the reg. season. Just not sold on Emery.
San Jose over 107.5
SJ got rid of a lot of dead weight in the off season and adding Heatlay to
Setoguchi and Thornton has the line potential of the first year Heatly played in Ottawa. The only thing that concerns me is a quality backup for Nabokov. The division didn't get good enough for them to drop 10 points from last season though. Plus they'll be playing with an even bigger chip on their shoulders from another 1st round exit.
Toronto over 83.5
The addition of Kessel and a very nhl caliber defence now makes this team more legit than in a very long time. Needing just one more win than last season seems like a no brainer after the additions Burke has acquired. If if they arn't, hell make some more moves to correct it some more.
Washington under 104.5
I think the East leaderboard could have a very different look to it this season as opposed to last. With Federov and Kozlov gone this is still a one line team with unproven goaltending and a very thin defence. They'll make the playoffs, but this number is too high for the depth of this team. Compare the Bruins depth to this team. Not even close and the Bruins total is 101.5
