Donald Trump: Mean-Spirited GOP Won’t Win Elections

By Ronald Kessler | Monday, 26 Nov 2012 01:07 PM
Ronald Kessler reporting from Washington, D.C. — The Republican Party will continue to lose presidential elections if it comes across as mean-spirited and unwelcoming toward people of color, Donald Trump tells Newsmax.
:ohno::):)

Whether intended or not, comments and policies of Mitt Romney and other Republican candidates during this election were seen by Hispanics and Asians as hostile to them, Trump says.

“Republicans didn’t have anything going for them with respect to Latinos and with respect to Asians,” the billionaire developer says.

“The Democrats didn’t have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren’t mean-spirited about it,” Trump says. “They didn’t know what the policy was, but what they were is they were kind.”

Romney’s solution of “self deportation” for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says.

“He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal,” Trump says. “It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote,” Trump notes. “He lost the Asian vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country.”

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy “to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country,” Trump says.

Gingrich: Trump remarks about judge 'mistake,' 'inexcusable'

Published June 05, 2016 FoxNews.comch calls Trump's attacks on judge 'inexcusable'

Donald Trump supporter Newt Gingrich on Sunday sharply criticized the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for his racially-sensitive remarks about the judge presiding over the Trump University civil fraud case.
“It was one of the worst mistakes Trump has made. Inexcusable,” the former GOP House speaker, who has become one of Trump’s closest advisers, told “Fox News Sunday.”
Trump has argued that American-born District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, whose parents are from Mexico, is biased against him, considering Trump’s vow to build a wall along the southern U.S. border to keep out Mexicans.
“He’s Mexican,” Trump told CNN on Friday. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico.”
Gingrich, whose is considered a potential Trump running-mate, also called the comment a “mistake” but stopped short of calling it racist.
“That judge is not a Mexican. He’s an American,” he said. “I hope it was sloppiness.”

Still, Gingrich continued to laud Trump, particularly for the first-time candidate's defeat of 16 other major GOP candidates to win the party nomination.
“I’m amazed at his speed, how fast he learns,” Gingrich said. “He’s a remarkable leader. We have a very good relationship.”
However, he argued the billionaire businessman is at a “turning point” in which he must become more disciplined and take more of his campaign advisers’ advice if he wants to defeat Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton in the general election.
“Compared to Hillary Clinton, I’d support Donald Trump all year,” Gingrich said. “She’s a much more flawed person.”
Trump University is the target of two lawsuits in San Diego and one in New York that accuse the business of fleecing students with unfulfilled promises to teach secrets of success in real estate.
Trump has maintained that customers were overwhelmingly satisfied. His legal team has not sought to have Curiel removed.
Trump on Sunday again defended his comments about the judge and dismissed Clinton’s assertion that his remarks are “racist.”
“I have been treated very unfairly by this judge,” Trump told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
In an extended back-and-forth exchange with host Jake Tapper, Trump acknowledged that Judge Curiel is indeed from Indiana but argued that he’s “very proud” of his Mexican heritage,
:ohno: to the extent he is a member of a “very pro-Mexico society.”:ohno:
“I’m building a wall. I’m trying to keep business out of Mexico,” said Trump, suggesting the situation has created a conflict of interest for the judge.
He also suggested Clinton should be “put in jail” for using a private email server while secretary of state and called her a “stiff.”
Trump, who after a series of terror attack also called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States, told CBS' "Face the Nation" that "it’s possible" that a Muslim judge would treat him unfairly.
:ohno:
Clinton on Sunday was again critical of Trump’s comments about the judge, which she called inaccurate and “very vicious.”
"Judge Curiel is as American as I am and certainly as American as Donald Trump is,” Clinton said on ABC’s “This Week.”
She also suggested that the attacks were “typical” of Trump’s strategy of trying to “divert attention” from his problems, in this case “very serious fraud charges” against the real estate school.
“Trump's continuing ethnic slurs and rants against everyone, including a distinguished federal judge, I think makes my point rather conclusively,” Clinton said.
Also on Sunday, a pair of powerful Senate Republicans warned Trump to drop his attacks on the judge.
"We're all behind him now," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on NBC's "Meet the Press," adding that it's time for unifying the party, not "settling scores and grudges."
"I hope he'll change his direction," the Kentucky Republican also said.
Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told ABC: "I don't condone the comments."
Their remarks solidify the line GOP leaders have drawn in recent days between themselves and Trump, with whom they've made a fragile peace over their sense that almost anyone would be a better president than Clinton.
The most-recent GOP pushback against Trump comes two days before presidential primaries in California, home to more Latinos than whites.
On Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan tepidly endorsed Trump -- but 24 hours later disavowed the billionaire's remarks about Curiel.

June 04, 2016, 12:55 pmFormer attorney general: Trump right to question judge’s fairness

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says Donald Trump is right to challenge the fairness a judge overseeing lawsuits against him.
“An independent judiciary is extremely important. But that value is not the only one in play here,” Gonzales wrote in a Saturday op-ed for The Washington Post.
"Equally important, if not more important from my perspective as a former judge and U.S. attorney general, is a litigant’s right to a fair trial,” he continued.
“The protection of that right is a primary reason why our Constitution provides for an independent judiciary. If judges and the trials over which they preside are not perceived as impartial, the public will quickly lose interest in the rule of law upon which our nation is based.”Trump on Thursday said U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s Hispanic ethnicity is “an absolute conflict” in three civil fraud lawsuits against the billionaire.
He said Curiel’s “Mexican Heritage” makes him partial because of Trump’s calls for a wall along America’s southern border with Mexico.
Gonzales on Saturday said Trump has reason beyond just race to doubt Curiel, who is American, will treat him fairly.
“As someone whose own ancestors came to the United States from Mexico, I know ethnicity alone cannot pose a conflict of interests. But there may be other factors to consider in determining whether Trump’s concerns about getting an impartial trial are reasonable.”
Gonzales said Curiel is a member of La Raza Lawyers of San Diego, which Trump aides say is affiliated with a national group vociferously opposing Trump, National Council of La Raza (NCLR).
The Washington Post on Saturday reported that NCLR is unaffiliated with La Raza Lawyers of San Diego. It added Curiel is not a member of NCLR.
Curiel has also appointed the Robbins Geller law firm to plaintiffs, he added, noting Geller is a donor to Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
“These circumstances, while not necessarily conclusive, at least raise a legitimate question to be considered,” said Gonzales, who was attorney general for former President George W. Bush.
“If [Trump’s] criticism is solely based on Curiel’s race, that is something voters will take into account in deciding whether he is fit to be president. If, however, Trump is acting from a sincere motivation to protect his constitutional right to fair trial, his willingness to exercise his rights as an American citizen and raising the issue even in the face of severe criticism is surely also something for voters to consider.”
Curiel is overseeing three lawsuits which allege Trump University defrauded students and saddled them with debt.
Trump has repeatedly touted positive reviews from other participants, saying courts will ultimately vindicate the for-profit real estate program

Sanders is a self proclaimed Socialist and he’s a Jew. Fact.

Obama’s presidency has been nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Fact.

I suppose I was wrong when I said Magic Negro, I should have said Magic Mulatto.

As for me being beaten just short of murder, if only that were possible.

Trump In Court Over RICO Charges

This article contends that part of why Trump is going so nuts is because of the severity of what he's charged with. I didn't realize Trump is possibly facing RICO charges.
Curiel is presiding over two separate class-action lawsuits about Trump University.
...
In his public remarks, Trump appears to make no distinction between Low and Cohen. But there are crucial differences between the two civil class-action lawsuits. The Low plaintiffs sued Trump University and Trump himself under various consumer-protection laws in California, Florida, and New York—a relatively standard class-action lawsuit.
Cohen, on the other hand, targets Trump through a provision of the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, more commonly known as the RICO Act—the same statute federal prosecutors use to bring down mob bosses. In essence, Low accuses Trump University of engaging in fraudulent business practices, while Cohen frames Trump University itself as a criminal enterprise with Trump as the orchestrator of a racketeering scheme.

The Cohen [summary] motion [filed by Trump] is still pending, with a hearing scheduled for July 18.
...
Summary judgment is granted when both sides in a case agree on the facts. Under those circumstances, a jury trial becomes pointless since there aren’t any factual disputes for jurors to deliberate and resolve. The judge’s role when addressing a summary-judgment motion is to determine whether there are any factual disputes.
Judge Curiel denied Trump’s summary motion in Low because there is a dispute over how much personal involvement Trump had, and he advertised that he did so there's evidence for Curiel to deny the motion and proceed to a jury trial. This was expected.
So on July 18 we find out whether Trump will be on trial not just for violating consumer protection laws but also for Trump University itself being a criminal enterprise, i.e. RICO.
That’s part of why Trump is trying to poison the well on Curiel, because the charges he'd be defending are so serious.
Side note: The GOP Convention starts July 18.

The DailyKos strikes again. :Carcajada:

You always say the same dumb shit, and you also never say what, exactly, is untrue about the story shown. And, of what significance is Bernie's religion, or, for that matter, Obama's race, Adolph?

In terms of '08 and '12, Obama's race was significant because he was able to increase African American turnout from 60% in '04 to 65% in '08 and 66% in '12.
