Another Windfall for Noront With High Grade on Initial Resource Estimates at Eagle One Deposit
Friday July 4, 8:30 am ET
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 4, 2008) - Noront Resources Ltd. ("Noront") (TSX VENTURE:NOT - News) is pleased to report the results of an initial resource estimate by P&E Mining Consultants Inc. of Brampton Ontario on its recently discovered Eagle One Cu-Ni-PGE Deposit, lying within the Double Eagle Project located in the James Bay Lowlands, northeastern Ontario.

</NOSCRIPT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>The Eagle One resource model was derived from delineation drilling conducted during 2007/2008 that outlined a mantle derived, ultramafic intrusion ("the Ring of Fire Intrusion") hosting an elongated, steeply dipping lens of dominantly disseminated sulphides which encapsulate a smaller lens of high grade massive sulphides. The deposit remains open along strike and down dip for further expansion. These potential extensions will be the subject of an exploration program to commence shortly.
Significant sulphide mineralization was outlined on nominal 50-metre spaced sections over dip lengths of up to 225 metres that can be projected to 200 metres of strike length. Twenty-three (23) drill holes that intersected mineralization on these five sections form the basis of the resource estimate while an additional six (6) holes were incorporated to build the total geological model. Inverse distance squared grade interpolation was utilized to determine block model grades.
The identification of significant high grade massive and disseminated sulphide resources at Eagle One clearly demonstrate that systematic exploration of other targets in the Ring of Fire area will be the most significant creator of value for Noront. Given Eagle One's close proximity to the newly discovered Eagle Two occurrence and the nearby potentially large Chromite deposit, it is clear that this area will continue to be the centre of a highly focused exploration program.
The realization of very high Ni grades (6.5% to 7.0%) in the massive sulphide zone allows Noront to consider the possibility of first shipping unprocessed ore to a southern based concentrator/smelter complex. The construction of an on site concentrator for the disseminated mineralization would be accomplished out of operating cash flow under this scenario. This concept would be considered in an early preliminary economic assessment with minimal capital costs and an early production date, subject to all necessary consents, approvals, permits and land use requirements. While Noront would need to complete a feasibility study, prior to undertaking this direct shipping approach, management of Noront anticipates there would likely be potentially minimal impact to the environment and the mine development would provide road access to several local native communities currently with air access only.
The following table sets out, for the first time, an indicated mineral resource and an inferred mineral resource for the Eagle One project:

(1) The resource for Eagle One was estimated on the basis of approximate $US three year trailing average metal prices of $12.00/lb nickel, $3.00/lb copper, $650/oz/gold, $1,250/oz platinum, $325/oz palladium and $12.00/oz silver and the $US exchange rate was $0.90. An NSR cut-off of $115/tonne for underground mining and milling was utilized to report the resource.
(2) Mineral resources which are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability. The estimate of mineral resources may be materially affected by environmental, permitting, legal, title, taxation, socio-political, marketing or other relevant issues. There is no guarantee that Noront will be successful in obtaining any or all of the requisite consents, permits or approvals, regulatory or otherwise for the project or that the project will be placed into production.
(3) The quantity and grade of reported Inferred resources in this estimation are uncertain in nature and there has been insufficient exploration to define these Inferred resources as an Indicated or Measured mineral resource and further exploration drilling is required to determine whether they can be upgraded to an Indicated or Measured mineral resource category.
(4) The mineral resources in this press release were estimated using the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), CIM Standards on Mineral Resources and Reserves, Definitions and Guidelines prepared by the CIM Standing Committee on Reserve Definitions and adopted by CIM Council December 11, 2005.
(5) The effective date of the mineral resource estimate is July 3, 2008.
Eugene Puritch, P.Eng., Tracy Armstrong, P.Geo. and Antoine Yassa, P.Geo of P&E Mining Consultants Inc., are the authors of the Resource Estimate Technical Report on the Eagle One deposit to be filed within 45 days of this news release. They are independent Qualified Persons in accordance with NI 43-101 - Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects, and have reviewed and are responsible for the information presented in this news release.
Assaying was performed by both ALS Chemex, (with sample preparation completed in Thunder Bay, Ontario and analyses completed at ALS Chemex in Vancouver, B.C.) and SGS Mineral Services in Toronto, Ontario where both preparation and analyses were undertaken. Base metal values were determined by using either 4-acid digest or lithium metaborate fusion with ICP-AES or ICP-OES analysis. Platinum, palladium and gold values were determined by 30 gram fire assay with ICP-AES finish. Silver assaying was undertaken with a three acid digest (aqua regia) followed by AAS. A very rigorous quality control program was set up and monitored on a real-time basis by the above mentioned independent QP's, and all assays used in this resource model fell within the quality control norms as determined by them.
With these new mineral resources on the Double Eagle Project at Eagle One in the McFauld's Lake area, Noront now has achieved the first milestone in the potential development of this asset.
In addition to now entering the pre-production phase Noront's exploration staff now in place, will continue its high priority exploration efforts on its very large land position around the potentially prolific Ring of Fire. Several diamond drills will be testing geophysical targets that have the potential to become additional feed for the processing facilities now to be considered by Noront in the McFauld's Lake camp.
Richard Nemis, CEO of Noront comments as follows: "With these 43-101 compliant mineral resources at Eagle One and our other exciting exploration projects in the McFauld's Lake area, coupled with our very recent discovery of additional course, visible gold mineralization in the current underground program at Windfall Lake in northern Quebec, our shareholders can see lots of light at the end of the tunnel. These developments indicate excellent potential for production revenues in the not too distant future. The main advantage of our current exploration effort is the minimal capital expenditures required and possible early lead time to begin obtaining production revenue from these resources."
These above forward looking statements are the views and objectives of Noront's current management team.
Noront is a tier 2 junior resource company on the TSX Venture Exchange, trading symbol NOT, with 129,804,783 shares issued to date.

I am pulling for you...You have kept the faith..Let's just hope that this new release doesn't act like the last 3 and the SP goes down again....The thing that gets me is even with this NR the stock STILL won't be $4! Heck it might not even be 3.50
Just 2 months ago it was 6.00

WTF??

joelatti, Thanks for pulling for me! Owning NOSOF isn't for the weak of heart. I read on AB, that Noront is considering doing the mining of Eagle One themselves. That would make the new release's headline make sense: "Another Windfall for Noront..."I take that to mean: another project for Noront where they themselves would sell the ore into the market as they probably will do at Windfall.
I hope todays news release is the start of many more to come out of McFauld Lake Area. Probe & Fancamp are starting to drill on their claims on Monday and NOSOF should be releasing assay results for DE2. Things should start heating up and hopedully so will the SP.

Here's a post from AB.

Onto the important item of the day.
I cannot remember this far back, but I believe this halt is the first since Hole 5 results were released last fall. I remember the euphoria of the day as Noront announced the 7% nickel over those great lengths. Then the share price dropped.
My first musing today is this. When it comes to Noront, good news does not always cause a price increase, and if past history is any indication, the price may fall first before going higher. Mind you, at $2.70 it would be hard to fall much more given what we learned today about the NSRs associated so far with DE1. Be prepared for anything on Monday but the best advice that has been stated on this board many times is too take a long turn approach with this one. Unlike many pop and drop day trades, this company is quickly approaching a production status whereby they move from purely an exploration company to one which will see profits from operations.
This is a rare thing.
Most juniors that hit it big tend to sell out to a major before they reach production. The reason is that it takes a lot of share dilution to raise the millions needed get to an operational status, and with dilution comes a loss of control. Once control is lost, takeovers are more likely.
Noront does not suffer this fate. The reason is the fortunate series of capital raising events which have taken place since late 2006. They have only had two private placements during that time. The first saw 30 million shares granted at .50 cents with 15 million warrants at .75. This brought in $22.5 million in 2007. In 2008, they placed another 6.5 million shares at a price of $4 to raise $26 million accompanied by another 2.5 million warrants being exercised in April for $12.5 million dollars.
I am not the best at math but in the last 18 months Noront has raised $61,000,000 in capital through IBK. I will never bash IBK as they are the protectors of Canadian Juniors, not only providing avenues to the capital markets but also on helping their clients avoid hostile takeovers. Check out their web site to see who their clients are and you will see Noront has partnered with them well.
I am not sure what the cash burn has been to date but I can guarantee that the Interest alone on this money is worth more than this company was worth just two years ago.
Today we have learned that they are ready to go all the way in what sounds like a short period of time.
Two world class properties being brought into production at the same time (production meaning the processing of ore for revenue). Gold, Nickel, Copper, Chromite, PGMs, all in an investment friendly and politically safe and sound country.
Which leads me to ask - why would anybody not invest in this company going into the long term? It is only a matter of time before we see lasting double digit share prices. The current share price is not an indication of value, but more a result of the really poor market performance overall. Last June saw the greatest June decrease in the US markets since the great depression. That was 70 years ago. But history shows that what goes down has always gone up, and once investor confidence returns, Noront will not rise with the market, but climb exponentially based on the business model they are cleverly building behind the scenes.
The highlight of today:
"Richard Nemis, CEO of Noront comments as follows: "With these 43-101 compliant mineral resources at Eagle One and our other exciting exploration projects in the McFauld's Lake area, coupled with our very recent discovery of additional course, visible gold mineralization in the current underground program at Windfall Lake in northern Quebec, our shareholders can see lots of light at the end of the tunnel. These developments indicate excellent potential for production revenues in the not too distant future. The main advantage of our current exploration effort is the minimal capital expenditures required and possible early lead time to begin obtaining production revenue from these resources."
It doesn't get any better than this. Regardless of SP over the next few days, weeks, and months, this one is destined for great things. Look for a listing on the TSX to follow soon. That will open up the stock to a new set of investors and mutual/pension funds who avoid the Venture.

Here's an article by Peter Koven from the Fin. Post and then a post from AB. The next couple of weeks should be interesting for NOSOF and other jvs invovled with the Ring of Fire. Do any of you have any thoughts on Noront mining Eagle One themselves? Some post from AB say it will give Noront a steady cash flow to build roads & a smelter on site & NOSOF could harness 80% of the value from Eagle One, instead of receiving 20% to 30% if bought out by a major.

Eagle One lands Noront 'good start' for mine
Nickel-Copper Find

Peter Koven, Financial Post
Published: Saturday, July 05, 2008

Industry experts are calling the first resource estimate from Noront Resources Ltd.' s Eagle One discovery a "good start," but will be watching for much more action in the months ahead to determine the future of the heavily hyped project.

Noront's initial resource for Eagle One was hotly anticipated, because the high-grade nickel-copper discovery ranks among the most promising Canada has seen in years. It triggered a big staking rush in the McFauld's Lake region in Northern Ontario last year that became the hottest topic in the junior mining world (the area is now known as the "Ring of Fire").

Noront reported an indicated and inferred resource from Eagle One yesterday of nearly three million tonnes of ore with an average grade of over 2% nickel. That includes smaller sections of about 200,000 tonnes grading more than 6.5% nickel.

While those grades are excellent, experts said this discovery on its own is not nearly big enough to justify building a mine at McFauld's Lake, especially since the remote area has no roads or power.

"Right now, they've got to expand very significantly to make this viable. It's a good starting point, but it needs a lot more work," said Dave Davidson, an analyst at Paradigm Capital.
However, the resource was also largely what investors expected. Eagle One is a very high-grade discovery, but it is relatively small.

To open up the area for potential mining, experts said it is likely a big discovery will have to be made. To date, there has been very little drilling by most of the junior companies in the region, and the Ring of Fire has lost momentum with investors.

The companies are finally going to ramp up drilling in the coming months, so the next round of results will be watched very closely. Geologists have pointed out that small deposits such as Eagle One are usually accompanied by much bigger ones.

"In my opinion, [the Eagle One resource] is just kind of a warm-up," said Warren Irwin, president of Rosseau Asset Management, which is a big investor in the Ring of Fire.

"The money's all raised and the companies all going to be out there aggressively spending it. And there are some great targets out there. All you need is the one big target to convince everyone that it will be the start of a new mining camp."

One advantage Noront has is that some of the ore from Eagle One is so high-grade it could potentially be shipped directly to a smelter in Sudbury without having to process it. Then the company could use the cash generated from that to build a concentrator at the site.

Noront shares were halted throughout the day and will resume trading next week.

Black Swans and "Financial Post" article

Posted by: rek on July 05, 2008 04:33PM

Peter Koven's "Financial Post" article is a good example of being fooled by a positive "black swan": the reality of NOT.V and the Ring of Fire.
I explained "black swans" in earlier posts (June 27, 2008 12:18PM, and same day, 2:01 PM): they are highly improbable events of great consequence. They happen more often than most people think.
Merely because the NOT.V story appears improbable, some people believe the NOT.V story must be too good to be true. I wrote that such people "falsely conclude the NOT.V story is extreme hype over very rare, but very small, lucky strikes into tiny ore bodies."
Look at Koven's use of words implying NOT.V is hype:
"heavily hyped project," "hotly anticipated," "most promising ... in years," "hottest topic in the junior mining world," and "very high-grade discovery."
He then goes on to make it sound too good to be true by next listing several reasons for being skeptical, and waiting to invest:
"not nearly big enough," "remote area has no roads or power," "needs a lot more work," "relatively small," "there has been very little drilling," and "the Ring of Fire has lost momentum with investors."
As I said in my 6/27/08 2:01 PM post, "To believe the unbelievable (that is, to recognize a black swan early in the game), is beyond the risk-taking rules followed by most investors/traders."
By the time NOT.V and the Ring of Fire are proven, and widely accepted as being real, NOT.V's stock price will be in the double digits.
I write about "black swan investing" on this forum to help some readers here better understand that positive black swans like NOT.V do exist in reality. They provide once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to multiply your initial stake many times.

Joelatti, The SP is very disappointing at this level, but all the markets were down today. NOSOF was up to $3.05 today and then pulled back with the rest of the falling market. I still believe in the long run this stock will make me and anyone that holds on allot of money. Here is a post from AB, which makes me NOT worrry about the present SP & I will sleep well tonight with my decision to stay long with NOSOF. Everyone has to do what is right for their own conferred level and risk, reward tolerance. I have allot of faith that with patience this stock will reward me. I've been wrong before and can be wrong again BUT with all I've learned about NOSOF I don't expect to be wrong.

Spoke to Richard Nemis

Posted by: rockstar on July 07, 2008 05:58PM

Good afternoon to all Not shareholders,
I started my conversation with thanking Richard and Company for doing an excellent job. I asked him to correct me if I was wronge, "When crunching the numbers that came from the Friday's PR, the SP should be trading at approx. $12.00 dollars. His response was "You Got It". Furthermore, he went on confirming that the numbers that came out of that P.R. translates to $2 Billion Dollars" Re doing the calculation using this figure brings the SP slighter higher to approx. $15.00. Richard also mentioned that one of the contributing factors on the SP could also be due to the depressed state that the markets are in. Richard went on about the possibilities of Eagle 2 being twice as big as Eagle 1, and more importantly the element of cromium discovered.
Folks, we are very close to ending this low SP chapter. Once the huge analysts start their number crunching process and realize the true value of our "NOT WINDFALL" the SP will start to reflect this and it will be the start of our next chapter.
Have a good night,

LOR you ar correct we all have a 50-50 shot at being right or wrong and with DD hoprfully much higher...My point was to try and save some of my feloow rx'rs from losing some coin as i stated a while back...SELL NOSOF and if you really still like it you WILL be able to buy it back at below 3 dollars a share next month.....well with my DD....I can tell you that I will be buying shares at around 2.75-2.80 Tues. morning I think we have Bottomed SLOWLY accumulating shares...It is always good to dollar cost avg. your shares..SO if you want to buy 1000 shares buy 4 lots of 250 maybe spaced every 2 weeks as such

Hey Lor how are you? I have been watching all of the goings on and I am way down. But, I am still holding the stock. I too, like you, am hoping that if I hold for the next 2 years that we will be rewarded for our effort and staying power. I just would like to see the stock stay above my highest buying point, $6.10 and I would just go away until 2010. Well, lets all hang tight and watch our baby climb to a decent amount and then just leave us alone until RN sells us to a major and we can ALL get out.

Hi Lovetowin, Everything but this stock is going good. Hopefully we will be happy with our disicion to hold for the long term. With all I've read about Noront and all the project they have going on I can't beieve this stock won't see double digits. I wish I had funds available to buy more at this price. I am tempted to borrow against my 401k to buy more. 2 things stop me from doing it, it would take 1-2 weeks to get the money and by then the price could be allot higher and second, a very wise man told me "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. dollar cost average down on penny stocks, I hear of two or three people a year that do this wise move. once you have a positon you have two choices, sell, or hold....never buy more to average down" So, hopefully time & patience will be good to us, Lor

Repost-Genuity Report.....enjoy...July 8th-just out

July 09, 2008

<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD style="PADDING-RIGHT: 5.4pt; PADDING-LEFT: 5.4pt; BORDER-LEFT-COLOR: #ece9d8; BORDER-BOTTOM-COLOR: #ece9d8; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0in; BORDER-TOP-COLOR: #ece9d8; PADDING-TOP: 0in; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; BORDER-RIGHT-COLOR: #ece9d8" width=742>Investment thesis

Eagle One resource in line with expectations – Noront has delivered the first indicated and inferred resource estimation for its Eagle One deposit, northern Ontario, Canada. We had forecast a 2.4mm t potential resource for the Eagle One deposit back in January 2008, and along with additional drilling an indicated and inferred 43-101, overall 2.9mm t resource has been documented by NOT at 2.1% Ni, 1.20% Cu, 1.20 g/t Pt, and 4.08 g/t Pd. Grades for the 450,000 tonne massive sulphide portion are exceptional and average 6.75% Ni, 3.17% Cu, 2.45 g/t Pt, and 11.99 g/t Pd.

Potential direct shipping ore – The 0.45mm t massive sulphide mineralization (MSM) has an in situ gross metal value of approximately US$2,080/t or US$938mm (using medium term, forward curve metal prices of US$10/lb Ni, US$3.35 Cu, US$2,065/oz Pt, and US$516/oz Pd). Although the project is remote, the high unit value of the MSM has high potential to be direct shipping ore to a southern concentrator/smelter.

VTEM survey in progress – Noront is re-flying the Double Eagle property with the VTEM airborne geophysical system. This is the superior direct detection system for nickel-copper massive sulphide mineralization.

Catalysts will include Eagle One “expansion drilling” – Noront will now embark on drilling Eagle One to the south where it is still open. Eagle Two assays and drill results are pending along with results for other targets such as AT-6.

• We are in the process of modeling the 0.45mm t massive sulphide mineralization as potential “direct shipping ore” as part of an NPV DCF model. We reiterate our recommendation of NOT as a BUY with a target price of $7.00. Noront is Speculative and suitable for risk-tolerant investors only.

On July 4, 2008, Noront announced the first indicated and inferred resource estimation for its 100%-owned Eagle One nickel-copper-platinum-palladium deposit, Double Eagle project, James Bay lowlands, northern Ontario, Canada. Noront was halted and did not trade on July 4, 2008, as certain portions of the news release had to be revised as required by the TSX Venture regulators (i.e., the word “windfall” had to be removed from the title and the use of NSR dollar values for the mineralization had to be removed).
We have provided the results of the 43-101 compliant resource estimation in Exhibit 1. It was estimated by P&E Mining Consultants Inc. (independent consultants) and based on a $115/tonne cut-off for mining and milling. Note that we also provide an idea of the gross metal value (GMV) per tonne for the resources in Exhibit 1. We assumed medium term, forward curve metal prices of $10/lb Ni, $3.35/lb Cu, $2,065 Pt/oz, and $516 Pd/oz (all in U.S. dollars).
Note that because the gold was less than 0.25 g/t and silver, and less than 10 g/t for all mineralization types and categories, we decided not to include them in Exhibit 1.

value” disseminated mineralization. As the company alluded to in its news release, there is a real opportunity to focus on the massive sulphide mineralization as a direct shipping ore and mine it first with a shallow underground mine.

• The 450,000 tonnes of massive sulphides grading 6.75% Ni contains 30,375 tonnes of Ni. This is the “nickel tonnes equivalent” of an approximately 2mm t nickel deposit with an average grade of 1.5% Ni. The point is that while the Eagle One massive sulphide zone is small, it is relatively large in terms of contained nickel. Additional “Eagle One” type of deposits are therefore very attractive.
Impact – Positive overall
While the resource estimation was in line with our expectations, we believe the main take-away is that the high grade massive sulphide zone may be viable as direct shipping ore via underground mining and trucking to a southern concentrator/smelter.
Discussion – Direct shipping option
Given the remote northern Ontario location and general bog-like terrain, the establishment of a concentrator plant on the Double Eagle project will require a large tonnage of high grade mineralization to make it worthwhile.
Therefore, we like the short-term “direct shipping option” of the very high grade massive sulphide material as highlighted by Noront in its news release because:

• A new road from the Double Eagle project would likely follow a series of eskers over an approximately 200 km distance to the community of Martin Falls. It is believed that such a route is likely able to be permitted in a reasonable amount of time (less than two years?).

• Potential very low capital costs for road construction and ramp access to the massive sulphide zones.

• The permitting bar will be very high for any plant in the Double Eagle project area that would involve waste dumps and tailings.

• The massive sulphide mineralization is probably high grade enough to truck directly to a smelter (i.e., Sudbury).

At this time, we believe NOT will need to find significantly more high grade mineralization on the Double Eagle project before a concentrator plant could be justified. Therefore, the lower grade mineralization is unlikely to be mined until additional deposits can be discovered by Noront on the Double Eagle property.
Catalysts – What’s next?
VTEM helicopter airborne survey partially completed – NOT is conducting a new airborne survey over the Double Eagle property, according to management. The previous ATEM survey coverage was appropriate for Cu-Zn volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization, but not appropriate for Ni-Cu sulphide mineralization-type conductors. It is our understanding from talking with various industry sources that VTEM is the best airborne

electromagnetic (EM) direct detection technique for Ni-Cu sulphide mineralization.
Eagle Two (E2) assays and visual drill results – There have not been any assays from the Eagle Two sulphide occurrence reported since May 27, 2008. Drilling has apparently continued on this target with one to two drills, therefore, we expect a significant amount of pending assay data to be reported for the sulphide-related target. Initial mineralization was mainly disseminated to net textured, but did not return high grade Ni assays and reported very low Pt and Pd assays. NOT has interpreted Eagle Two mineralization, documented to date, to be related to a magma conduit, and that potential for massive sulphides may exist at depth. No borehole geophysical results for the initial Eagle Two drilling has been reported.
Assays are also pending for additional drilling at the Eagle Two chromitite occurrence that were first reported in February. To date, only one of six chromitite intersections has assays reported in a May 27, 2008 news release.
Drill results for other EM Targets (drilling ongoing) – Noront has drilled a number of other EM targets, including AT-6, for which assays are pending. Documentation of new massive Ni-Cu-Pt-Pd mineralization would be a major catalyst.
Eagle One expansion drilling to the south (will commence shortly) – The Eagle One deposit appears to be open to the south, albeit dominated by granodiorite.
Valuation and recommendation
With the documentation of a 43-101 resource for the Eagle One deposit, NOT now has an asset of retained value. We are in the process of developing a rough NPV DCF model estimate for the 450,000 tonnes of massive sulphide mineralization which has the potential to be “direct shipping ore.”
At this time, we reiterate our BUY recommendation and target price of $7.00.. Noront is Speculative and suitable for risk-tolerant investors only.

Hey Lor. Some quick info for you. I like you would never borrow from an acccount like a 401K. You must pay it back and it seems just to risky. I have bought my NOSOF in my IRA account. Don't know if that is any smarter but, I am watching it a lot and I have 15 years till I retire so, I can hold it for a couple of years to maybe get a buyout at 50 to 100 dollars a share. Hold long with NOSOF and good luck to us all. NOTE: This last couple of months has been a nightmare. I could really go for a couple of dollars up in the stock just to make me not choke looking at my investment statement.

Here's a couple of post from AB to help keep the faith.

SPOKE to RN THIS PM

Posted by: Dintro Coolo on July 09, 2008 09:37PM

All:
D-C here - it's been awhile since I last posted but I've been an active, regular reader of this forum.
Like many of you, I am quite concerned with all the 'NOT bashing' and second guessing on this board but the last straw was Jim Hodson from Sprott Asset Management and his coments on BNN yesterday.
So, this afternoon I decided to call the NOT office to see if I could speak to Richard. I normally wouldn't do this because I realize he and the others are very busy, However, in light of the above I had no choice. Luckily he took my call.
Needless to say, RN is p-o at Sprott to say the least. Sprott has sold all of their shares in NOT - that's anywhere between 9 - 12% of the outstanding shares. It's a free country and they can do what they want but the part that realy bugs RN are Hodson's comments about the deposit being 'too small' and ' the need for a railroad.' On both counts RN refuted this by stating 3 million tons of ore (1.8 million tons indicated resource & approx. 1.1 million tons inferred and open to the south along strike length and down dip) is not too small and for Hodson to make such a statement is way too premature. As for Hodson's 'railroad' comment and I quote, RN stated emphatically "Who the hell said anything about a railroad?" Lastly RN would not be surprised if Sproott sold their position only to buy in at a later date. Enough said about Sprott.
Also, NOT must file their initial resource report within 45 days to get out the NI 43-101 - consider this done.
I then asked RN about JP Morgan and how it was going with them. He mentioned that they (JPM) were instrumental in his recent trip to N.Y. Moreover, staring July 23rd. RN and JPM will be heading out to the U.S. west coast to drum up further interest and support for NOT.
I asked RN about the number of drills on their McFaulds Lake property and here's what he said:
- 2 drills are currently working on the Double Eagle II anomaly;
- 1 drill is still on the Eagle I anomaly so as to be in a position convert the 1.1. million tonnes of inferred resource to an indicated resource;
- 1 drill is on their property that NOT has JV'ed with tothe north (I assume that's with WSR?)
- 1 more drill is also on the property but wouldn't say where (based on Genuity's Report today I think that would be AT 6?) .
That's was it.
Folks, I've had the pleasure of meeting Richard at last years GM in Toronto. He's a decent, genuine human being and strikes me as being very much down to earth. This Sprott thing has really got him bugged. If there was ever any doubt in anyone's mind that RN was not motivated to prove this property has the goods, he sure is now.
So with FIVE drills spinning away, NOT will turn this property into Swiss cheese before their done with it. I fully expect a flood of NR's coming soon from MF's, not to mention Windfall. So now is no time to sell your position or worse, try to short this baby. Now is the the time to be loading up because you will not see these prives ever again!
Good luck to all,
D-C.

I'm still here and haven't sold anything. I hold a large chunk of shares at an average cost of $5.04 so I'm feeling the pain along with a good chunk of the board here. No one, no matter how long they are prefers to see red vs green when they open their portfolio. That said this is a spec play. It drifts on sentiment and moves explosively on news the market (dis)likes. We don't have control over either so we go along for the ride as long as we like the story. When you stop liking the NOT story its time to move on.

There really isn't much on the geology side to say about the 43-101 that hasn't been said. The market was looking for a much bigger number and they didn't get it. Similarly the market has been looking for DE2 numbers and explanation of the significance of the Chromite layer and both of those are long over due (I like Freewest’s statement that they are commissioning a chromite study to understand the implications of the horizon that has been discovered on their JV property --- There is more than one way to navigate around the OSC then directly butting heads with them). As soon as interest in the ROF area started to drift the vultures descended and have been playing with us since.

As to mining DE1 on their own --- Every junior reaches a point where they get fed up with the manipulators and say 'stick it' to them, if you won't pay us what we are worth we are prepared to go it alone. It's possible that NOT will go it alone but it's highly unlikely. Mining and managing a mining project is like night and day in terms of the skills and culture you need.

As a spec stock we are waiting for news that will excite the market and bring new investors back into the market. There is no doubt that this stock is wound tightly and can explode back up on a single hole. With drilling action by Probe, Freewest, FNC and NOT there is a good likelihood that something will hit and set the area off over the summer.

In the meantime do what is right for you and your circumstance. For me I've been working my butt off the last couple of months so I can spend August at the cottage with my kids (my best investment yet). As to NOT and my other ROF stocks, I plan on holding tight until this late this fall and then review things to see if anything warrants changing my strategy.

Remember we are not even a year into the ROF story and have barely touched the surface of our holding. Our JV partners haven’t even drilled yet and they all have commitments to spend by the end of the first year of the JV. Lots more will happen and as it does we will be in play yet again.

GLTA. Ignore the hype (either way) and make your own decisions.

Yes ...I am still around...and as usual occupying my time constructively during " the summer doldrums"....I have been up to my property and did a little surface work for assays now being done...will go back up maybe 2 more times...
As I've mentioned numerous times, I have been investing in Jr. Explorers for many years...too numerous to to recall..lol...BUT...I have had to learn about "the summer doldrums" the "hard way"...lol...I would say that is one the most important contributors, not only to NOT, and all of McFaulds Players, but actually the entire "explorations sector", as evidenced by the dramatic lows seen almost everyday at the TSXV..."the summer doldrums"... Golds and PMs usually lead the Base metals, and I expect this Gold Bull to begin Early/ Mid August, for numerous reasons including the upcoming US Election, with Dems favorites to win it all, at a time when their economy is in perilous straights, and the US$ tittering on the brink, Inflation on the run, and the Geopolitical situation In Iraq and Iran heating up..Iraq wants a dateline for US withdrawl, Oran wants to attack Israe, and vice versa.....As I've said many times...deja-vu all over again, a la 70's...
In my view NOT and McFaulds Players are down in a big part because of the "summer doldrums" hitting all resources explorers and producers....everybody is at the beach or cottage, In addition there is serious concerns about the state of the World Economy, or is that just propaganda by the US$...They have been desperately trying to hold the price of OIL , PMs and Base Metals to try to SQUEEZE inflation with in some success in cases like PMs and Metals, especially in their Equities...Let's not forget the PPT...what would be the BEST stock and or area to "HIT" to start the DOWN trend, then the BEST most popular performers in the TSX- NOT and McFaulds...Of course there are many more hands interferiing, some of whom have already been named on this board....
Yes I also agree that NOT and McFaulds have under undue sort selling and down pressure in many forms...there should be little question on the new improved surveillance by the TSX...It's so obvious that it's palpable...all this DOWN pressure seems to me to be co-ordinated...so much so that NOT came up with a brillant plan to circumvent this enormous DOWN pressure...
Of course I was also somewhat disappointed with the estimates for E1 , almost 3 MT, especially since I believed that NOT really wanted to wait until more assays came in from E2 and AT6 etc...But the "fact" remains that NOT was almost forced to release the 43-101, in order to make credible their plan to extract the ore themselves...there are a lot of BIG "vultures" who want these deposits for a song....I'm almost certain this tonnage estimate will increase...In this intance, NOT showed a stiff back bone and wisdom...In my view all shareholders should recognize this quality of NOT management, since it looks like it's all or nothing for NOT and shareholders...I also must say that this forum has gone overboard in this takeover by a "Major" convept...NO Major will pay top dollars unless there in fact was "substancial" proven/inferred tonnage...oh yes I' sure they would have liked all of NOT for $5, and now we know that is NOT going to happen...I think NOT can pull this plan off...
"To cut to the chase"....Updated Geology theory....
As you all may have noticed that New Geologists have been brought in to the Company...Dr. Mugal et al..I can assure you that this was a very calculated and well thought out decision....I even heard a Rumor that Prof Dr. Naldrett , probably the world renown expert on MMS , may be consulting NOT...There is absolutely no doubt that this regional Geology at McFaulds is very complex indeed...
to DDSMD et all...just a quick response to your good post...Firstly the red Line known as the Ring of Fire, is actually a much younger set of intrusions , about 1.2 Billion years Old, as compated to the Granodiorites/Volcanics which have been dated at 2.72 Billion years old...Also the E1 deposit and likely others dound would be found on the "inside" of that red line , in feeders, conduits and traps from the north going south, that "fed" said Ring of Fire late intrusions...So, the MMS Ni CU PGEs Chromite deposits are about 1.2 Billion years Old, and the VMS Cu, Zn, CO etc, are likely much older 2.72 Billion years old, as well the diamonds seems to be of a different age, which all suggests multiple different mineralizing "events " thruought time...
your comparison to Merensky reef is partially correct, however the Bushweld Complex is comparable to the Ring of Fire Intrusions, and at least from what we are able to see , the busweld is a HUGE long and wide layered intrusion, whereas the ROF from what we know so far is very long but very thin so far...As I've stated here many times I still beleive the Chromite will be found to be economical, and with political and energy problems in South Africa , I think that that Chromite will be able to be enriched into Ferro Chromite, which sells for over $10,000.00 a ton...
This does NOT mean that as we drill deeper that the ROF will expand much wider, after all , the parent magmas came up from the "mantle" and made it almost to surface, therefore requiring vast volumes of magma, in order for it to ascend almost to the solid earth...
I am still bullish of McFaulds...nothing has really changed in that area, except that I have been a buyer of a number of select McFaulds Players...If we take this new Geologic theory , than players along this red line, probably on either side would be good bets...And let's not forget all the VMS deposits, all of them will add up to substantial tonnage in time...
And that is the "KEY"...time...I would think that by the end of this year, early next year we should have a much better idea of what McFaulds holds....In the meantime pick up some super cheap players , the McFaulds exploration play is FAR from over, and if we get the Geology better known, the more successful all of us will be.....
Of course as usual, this is only my considered opinion...please do your own D.D. and research ....

Hi Lovetowin, I have not logged on to my etrade account since this stock went below 4.30, don't like the color of red. But I still wouldn't want to sell & be left on the side line if big news came out of the Ring of Fire. TIME & PATIENCE! Lor

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>VANCOUVER -- Since the discovery hole at the Double Eagle property in northeast Ontario hit massive sulphide mineralization in September, Noront Resources (NOT-V) investors have been anxiously awaiting a resource estimate for the nickel-copper- platinum group elements project.
The wait is over. On an otherwise quiet July 4, Noront released an initial estimate for Eagle One, the better explored of two main exploration targets at Double Eagle. Almost 30 drill holes delineated a mantle-derived, ultramafic intrusion that hosts an elongated, steeply dipping lens of dominantly disseminated sulphides. The disseminated sulphides, in turn, encapsulate a lens of high-grade massive sulphides.
In the indicated category, Eagle One hosts 233,000 tonnes of massive sulphide mineralization grading 6.52% nickel, 3.45% copper, 0.24 gram gold per tonne, 1.94 grams platinum, 12.21 grams palladium and 9.75 grams silver. The larger envelope of disseminated sulphides comprises 1.6 million tonnes averaging 1.3% nickel, 0.85% copper, 0.14 gram gold, 1 gram platinum, 2.7 grams palladium and 2.94 grams silver.
The estimate pegged the combined massive and disseminated inferred resources at 1.1 million tonnes grading 2.39% nickel, 1.27% copper, 0.13 gram gold, 1.37 grams platinum, 4.5 grams palladium and 4.21 grams silver.
Drilling results indicated dip lengths of up to 225 metres, projected onto 200 metres of strike length. The deposit remains open along strike and downdip for further expansion.
And while Noront is actively working to expand the deposit, the company's thoughts are already turning to production.
In a statement, Noront CEO Richard Nemis discussed the possibility of initially shipping unprocessed ore from the high-grade massive sulphide zone to a southern-based concentrator-smelter complex.
Cash flow derived from such an operation would then allow the company to build an on-site concentrator for the disseminated mineralization.
And a forward-focus on production was also clear from the fact that Noront calculated net smelter return (NSR) value estimates for its resource amounts in its press release. But the company later had to retract the NSR estimates because the project has not yet seen a scoping-type study.
Noront also had to retract its initial news release title, "Another Windfall for Noront With High Grade on Initial Resource Estimates at Eagle One Deposit." The reason the Ontario Securities Commission demanded the retraction is best explained by Noront itself: "Noront retracts the usage of the word Windfall in its news release title, in that it inadvertently draws potentially undue attention to a lottery-style win, rather than the intended reference to Noront's Windfall Lake property in Northern Quebec."
The company was halted at $2.70 after releasing its Eagle One resource estimate, and traded at $2.47 at presstime. Noront has a 52-week trading range of 29¢-$7.42 and has 129.4 million shares issued.
Noront's discovery at Eagle One kicked off a staking rush around the McFauld's Lake area. The company is actively involved in several of the area-play exploration projects as a joint-venture partner.
Noront proved its property name, Double Eagle, was justified in late February, with the announcement of another massive sulphide occurrence 2 km southwest of Eagle One -- appropriately dubbed Eagle Two.
The latest results from Eagle Two have returned significant copper-nickel mineralization from depths exceeding 400 metres. In general terms, the number of mineralized zones encountered increases with depth as does the tenure of sulphide mineralization.
Mineralization containing copper- nickel sulphides has been traced to 350 metres depth; chromitite mineralization to date extends to 400 metres depth. Both zones occupy positions conformable with and near the stratigraphic bottom of a wide peridotite sill, which in turn unconformably overlies a granodiorite older basement rock.
The aim of the current drill program is not to define the lateral or horizontal extension of the zone but rather to follow mineralization to depth in search of a postulated pool of concentrated copper-nickel sulphides lying on the basement rocks, as found at Eagle One.
In a more generalized view, Noront's Ring of Fire conceptual model turns on the idea that a mantle-derived, highly magmatic ultramafic peridotite intrusion (the Ring of Fire Intrusion or RFI) has been placed along the margin of a regional-scale granodiorite pluton, which has been intruded into and caused a doming of the host Sachigo greenstone belt. As such, the RFI is situated between a granodiorite footwall and a Sachigo greenstone belt hangingwall.
The RFI is magnetically distinct from both, allowing for easy tracing, and it seems a series of conduits cutting across and through the granodiorite have acted as feeders to the RFI.
Using this model, the Eagle One deposit is interpreted as occurring within a conduit feeder, at some distance from the RFI. The Eagle Two discovery is interpreted as occurring within the throat of the conduit, where it empties into the RFI. Noront's geologists think the drill results obtained to date at Eagle Two -- seemingly coalescing finger-style mineralization -- are consistent with this model, which is why the search is on for a possible feeder conduit that would constitute another Eagle One-type deposit.

Here's a post from AB.

WOW, WOW, WOW

Posted by: d12 on July 11, 2008 11:00AM

Well, I think I should have headed up to the cottage today, because I am not a happy camper and this is probably going to be a long post. I am so pissed right now I can't even explain it. All I am hearing is complaining on this board. Is it justified? YES, of course it is, the SP has went from $7.42 to $2.12 in pretty much a straight line. The bashers are out in full force clogging this board with their weak arguments over anything and everything. They are pointing out the most insignificant things. But what angers me more is many are giving them the time of day. Come on guys, this is ridiculous. Lets look at the bare bone FACTS, enough with the unknown, bashers pray on this.

1. Eagle 1 is a deposit of 2.9 Million tonnes worth approximately $2.1 billion. YES, $2.1 billion. Did you hear me, $2.1 BILLION. FACT.

2. Noront is now going to go back and expand the size of Eagle 1. They are going to drill anomaly AT-1. They are going to drill deep this time at E1 and at AT-1. FACT.

3. Eagle 2 has produced positive Ni/Cu results coupled with monster chromite results. Mines run on similar grades of chrome with intercepts of 1 meter thick. We encountered ours over 49 meters. FACT.

4. We have 42 Million in the bank. No debt. FACT.

5. Windfall has hit 52oz/ton of gold, we are building a ramp down to the mineralization. Twice we have encountered gold just building the ramp. FACT.

6. AT-6 has been drilled to the surprise of most of us. FACT.

7. There was a Private Placement done at $4/share for $26 million dollars. Warrants were excercised at $5/share for another $16 million. FACT.

8. Kevin Feeny, Paul Parisotto, and Jim Mungall are on board and have started work. Jim is at the camp as we speak. FACT.

9. Mr. Nemis went to NY to see JPM. FACT.

10. Share price has come off its highs of $7.42 to as low as $2.12. FACT.

11. Overall market conditions are poor at best. FACT.

12. Communication from the office has been slowed dramatically. FACT.

13. WSR and MTX have hit mineralization, assays pending. FACT.

14. The short position is relatively low considering how much downward pressure there has been on the share price. FACT.

15. There was never any mention of a "railway" as Hodson alluded to. FACT.

Now, I could go on and on all day long. But I urge every investor to look at the facts and see if they line up to you. Does it make logical sense for the share price to be where it is? If it does, please SELL and leave us alone. I am sick and tired of hearing "investors" twisting the FACTS to play into their hands. It is sickening and I don't know how you sleep. I have seen this many times before and will see it many times in the future, but to allow yourself to believe them or give them the time of day is what really irks me.

Everyone needs to understand that all FACTS can be argued, this is what the manipulators play on. Anything. Its happening right now. A while back Mac Watson said on BNN that he believes Noront has $2 billion in the ground. All the bashers laughed at him and us for believing it. Now it has been confirmed, and we still allow them to tell us the deposit isn't big enough. Months ago they said $2 billion wasn't possible, now that we have it, it doesn't count because the deposit is smaller then we all thought it would be to warrant that type of value. People, use your heads, $2.1 billion is $2.1 billion anyway you slice it.

They argue that the chromite is garbage and not worth a penny. Mark my words, when the 43-101 comes out it will be very apparent the true worth of it. What will happen then? The manipulators will back pedal and complain that it is hard to mine and not feasible. This process won't end people, never. If we hit $50/share, they will tell us it isn't possible to hit $75/share.

So, how the heck is our SP at $2.35 as I write this? Well, here's where I don't have FACT to back it. I have an opinion, but no one can be sure. I think there are many variables contributing to the lag. Here is what I BELIEVE they are, in no particular order: JMO

1. General market conditions

2. Summertime

3. Lack of promotion from company. I like that they want the FACTS to speak for themselves, but sometimes you have to play the game...

4. Lack of recent updates

5. Massive manipulation. I truly believe this is being Naked shorted. JMO.

6. Last but not least, and in my opinion, we are contributing to the dwindle as well. Not taking a stand. Undecided.

I imagine some people are pissed at me for saying that we are contributing to the recent downward pressure. I don't care if you are mad at me. It IMO is a big problem that I want to address. Every time we respond to a garbage post, we open the flood gates. Every time we question the unknown, we allow the manipulators to wedge themselves into an argument that they can possibly win. No one knows the unknown, so stop fearing it, it is what it is, unknown.....

So, the moral of the story and why I wrote this post was basically to give each and everyone of us a blast, myself included. All I ask is either to $hit or get off the pot. Its time for us to fight back with confidence. If you are unsure, please move on and come back when you feel the time is right. But for God's sake, stop questioning all the DD you have done for months. If you're going to question it, stop doing it......You're just wasting your time. I'm sure there are many saying, "jeez d12, how can we not question this thing considering the SP"? Well, all I can say is look at the facts. Again, if the facts make you scared, SELL. If not, HOLD or BUY and stop worrying about it. It is not productive and gets us nowhere. Our own lack of confidence plays right into their hands. Despite what some say, they do read these boards, I know this for a FACT. Some here are the manipulators. Stop arguing with them, you can't win. They will always counter with something not factual that you can't prove or disprove.

I am not for a second saying that we can't discuss everything here, because we can. But, I think as a group we are more then intelligent enough to realize who truly wants to discuss something and who doesn't. I am asking for the board to no longer give these guys (we all know who they are) the time of day. Be confident in your decision to own this company. It may sound naive, but I guarantee each and everyone of you that it will make an enormous difference in the end. We are all salespeople for this company. If we aren't confident, how can we expect Dick to be when he takes it on the road??? See, I told you I should have went to the cottage:) Sorry for the rant people, it had to be said.

good luck all, d12

It sure is nice seeing NOSOF in the green 2 days in a row. I only wish I had fund available to buy more when it was in the low $2. range. Here's a post from AB, hope its true!

Rumours are flying out of the bush.....*somebody* has pulled a core with massive sulphides.....maybe the FWR/NOT JV??????

It's not the FWR/NOT JV though but NOT land near there from what I heard.
