"The PATRIOTS are NOW forever WILL BE A MARQUEE FRANCHISE equivalent to other GREAT FRANCHISES in NFL HISTORY."

Lol, Newport, buddy, let's not get carried away. In this era of the NFL, with the salary cap leading to such parity, there have been no GREAT teams since the Broncos won back to back. Who's your running back again? Who did the Ravens beat in the Bowl? Who played QB for that team? Did you see Carolina play the Falcons several weeks ago? Hard to believe that team is going to the Bowl.

Back in the 80's in the NFC you had the 49er's, Bears, Giants and Redskins going at it. Then Dallas in the 90's. No recent team comes close to that level. Even the 4-time loser Bills would handily win a Bowl in this era with the talent they had.

Nonetheless, congrats on last week's big win. I was all over it. I'm loving the whining from the losers who bet on Indy and that overrated redneck QB they have. "WAAAAAA HOLDING WAAAAAAA". The score really flattered the Colts. That was domination. Hey almy, tissue?

Patriot,

It is amazing how I agree with you all the time in the football forum and so infrequently in the foreign affairs politcal forum

Age and durability factred in , I would not trade Brady for anyone. He just wins...it is surreal that some people wont shake of the "dink and dunk" stigma. The guy has develpoed a deep passing game, led the league in td passes in 02, and oh yeah...wins all the time, without big name help atr WR, a lackluster running game, and a a bunch of no-names on the offensive line.

(Koppen a 5th round rookie, Ashworth an injury replacement,a nd the new guy who is in for woody)

Some fools still think Bledose is better, like ROn Borges and Nck Cafardo.

Hey PAt, do you ever read those hacks? Borges has lost all of his cradiblity with me since the bledose trade. His anti bellicheck/brady agenda has ruined him./ Since he has spouteed off about Bellicheck ineptitude he been wrong on everything. Its comical but also sad.

Cafardo just gives Bledose and donaho tounge batsh all the time. Not much of a writer anywyas.

Chonce its no wonder your left of Karl Marx you read the Globe...lol.

There is supposed to be a great piece by Michael Felger in the Boston herald about the Pats and their system. One of the things it mentions is that they are 3 million dollars under the cap from when they cut Lawyor Milloy.Under league rules they can apply that 3 mil. to next year which would give them 6 million to play with next year because the rules say whatever amount you stay under the cap, you can apply it the following year....the owner could just pocket the money but he wants to reinvest back in the team.Meaning they could easily sign a player like Terrell Owens..but they won't, because Owens is an asshole.
So looking forward the Pats have 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks next year and 7 picks in the first 4 rounds, 6 million bucks under the cap. This is all for a team that will probably be 17-2 this year, that had drafted 6 rookies this previous year that all played and most started.
I swear IF the yahoos on these boards had half a brain it would be retarded.
If you want to idolize a individual, pick Tiger Woods. If you want to idolize a TEAM pick the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS!!

Now that I am on the subject...The Patriots are the ONLY team, in team sports, that still come out in the begining of a game as a team...and this is a team decision not an organizational one.

Hahaha...funny one patriot. Not that is is relavent, but I am actual only labeled a liberal due to my opinions about Bush and foreign policy (and the Patriot act). In terms of re-allocation of wealth I am a liberterian,. Free market capitilist. Opposed to welfare, affirmative action, virtually all social programs of any substantial expense, and an advocate for the 2nd amendment.

I am a liberal in the classic sense, (preaching liberty, and freedom) but not in the modern sense. (disporportionate income tax etc...)

These days if you dont like Bush, or are opposed to the war in Iraq you are all of a sudden a communist. However some further delving and you will learn that people of many ideologies are opposed to the war, just as people of many ideologies are for it.

Anywyas I know you were just kidding, so I apologize for the diatribe, but I just wanted to clear it up.

Anywyas back to sports...have a good one patriot!

Oh yeah,.

That piece by Fleger is wonderful. Dennis and callahan's show has been tremedous when they intoro's with all of that future salary cap stuff.

The show slowed down when the interviewed that carolina play by play man eddie robinson. They werent really talking football.

Let's all remember, if it was'nt for the refs and that fumble that was'nt a fumble New England would not have beaten Oakland. Thus, would not have won a super bowl.

New Egland won't be able to hide in the snow or cold weather in Houston.

WC,

The pats are something like 10-2 in games with good weather, or where weather was a non-factor. They beat the Titans, Giants, Dolphins, broncos, colts, Bills, Jets,Houston and more in good weather.

Nice try though.

In 1976 thee worst call of all time went against the Pats and for the raiders...on 4th and long there was a roughing the passer call on a tipped ball from Ken Stabler...Raiders went on to win when it should have been the game.
You can hate the tuck rule but it was the correct call by definition of the rule.
The 1976 call was twice as bad against the Pats....Brady took a blow to the head that twice as bad as the one Stabler took and that was back when protecting the QB was a non issue.

Patroit, you had to dig deep for that 1976 reference. You probably were not even born then.

But back to that tuck rule call. Worst call in all of sports.

New Egland may win the super bowl and I will be the first to congradulate you pat betters. But I think Carolina will show the world how good they are.

Newport,

So while living in the DC suburbs you were a fan of both the Skins and the Boys? Wow, that's a Jekyll and Hyde lifestyle if I've ever heard of one. I grew up in Olney...Magruder, class of '81. How about you?

About the Patriots, I'm a huge Skins fan but admire many other teams (seems to happen as you get older). I love the Pats "team" quality, no big star players yapping in the press or going all glam in commercials (Warren Sapp, etc). I know Brady's getting close/is a major star but even he seems like so much more a single part of a whole unit working as one. Refreshing to see that these days.

Thats funny. The tuck rule should be renamed Cover-the-refs-ass Rule because they blew that call. Must have been a Kennedy reffing that game. I do remember that call in '76 at Oakland, but it wasn't as bad as the Tuck-rule.

If you remeber that then you must also had to remember how they had to slow the replay down to super slo mo to see Sugar Bear graze stabler helmut after he tipped the ball (76).

Also they could have called Woodson for a blow to the head on Brady.
The same tuck rule was used against the Pats against the Jets earlier in the that year.Tough shit for the Raiders. Their the biggest asshole franchise in football.they should get their wish next year with Norv Turner...the number 1 draft pick for 2005...let that bother ya.
