I have found even when I run both Spybot and Adaware, the computer starts running incredibly slow in the next couple days, before there is any new updates for those two spyware programs. Often, there are programs installed in the Add/Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. A common one that always seems to come back is ViewPoint Media Player, but there are a ton of other ones as well. Generally I would Google "shady program name" and "spyware" and see what the results ended up saying about the shady program name. Getting rid of this Add/Remove programs makes it harder for them to come back.
Another great website I have found is http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/hijackthis-log-help/ .
Its a forum for a complete cleaning using the HiJackThis program. Usually they are in over their heads with requests, but usually help you out within a week, just bump the thread every 3 days or so. Computer will be running like new after they help you.
