Biz from what I've understood in the past 1unit is equivalent to $100 correct... if not please correct me... if that is the case, I typically don't put $100 on games until I reach $1000 on my account.... my bets at the moment range from $25 to $75. Please explain... at that point how do I place units for that... $75= .75units, $50= .50units, $25= .25units? Is this Correct? If not please inform me.... thanks... and thanks for not coming off as an ass hole and willing to inform me.
1 unit can be any amount. Some people use $100/unit, others $50, some $25. Others it may be $500. When keeping track of your record by units, the unit amount is irrelevant.
I'll give you an example of how you should be keeping your records....assuming spread bets are the standard -110 juice.
Lets say you have the following games:
Team A +4 (W) Win 1 unit
Team B -2 (L) Lost -1.1 units
Team C ML -180 (L) Lost -1.8 units
Team D ML -180 (W) Win 1 unit
Team E ML +130 (W) Won 1.3 units
Team E ML +130 (L) Lost -1 unit
These games went 3-3 and lost -.6 units. A $100 player lost $60. When you just put down the units won or lost, then each person knows how much they would have won or lost based on their own unit amount. Its just a standard number that is one size fits all. A $50/unit player lost $30.
Do the same for parlays. If you have a 2 team ML parlay that pays 1.2 for every 1, then the win would be +1.2 and a loss would be -1. The amount wagered is irrelevant. Each player can multiply their standard unit ($100, $50, etc.) by the units won/lost.
Keep a record for each type of wager. Keep a record for your parlays, keep a record for your ML plays, and keep a record for your spread plays. This will also allow you to see which plays are profitable and which aren't, or if they are all profitable it shows you which ones perform the best.
When making plays based on ML you must keep a record in units, or it doesn't matter. If I'm 20-10, but my 10 losses were each at -150, I've won only 5 units not 9 units (assuming the standard -110 juice). If you don't keep records like this, then folks have no idea what their bottom line would be......and in this business the bottom line is all that matters.
There are many people that come on this forum, play ML favorites, and just put down a record with no unit count. Many are clowns just wanting to brag. If you are indeed a serious handicapper and want people on this forum to take you seriously, and I have no reason to believe that you aren't, then I would suggest keeping records as I have suggested.
You can always PM me if you have any further questions. Good luck with your action.
