"An April 2009 reform plan, which President Obama was said to support and which is thought to be gaining support in Congress, would give the public the choice of a public sector competitor in the private health insurance market. An article in The Economist said that the inclusion of a public sector option could trigger insurance opposition which, in conjunction with employer health-care provider opposition, could kill health care reform"

from wikipedia

(private plans would not be illegal but they are of course pissed off about having the goverment as a competitor)

I have 2 insurance policies. I pay $60/month into the Caja, so if my daughter gets an ear infection etc... free care and medicine. I also have an international policy with Loyds Of London, $5,000,000 cap, so if something serious happens we are covered! That plan costs $2700 a year for family of 3. $250 deductable, so if it is something minor, we just go to ebais.
