It can be a lifetime battle at certain points in your life. Many will tell you many reason cause and cures. I strongly suggest see a pro for some meds to get you started to feeling better. Take nothing for granted in life and live one day at a time. Easier said than done!

Depression is a very serious disease. Often it goes hand in hand with anxiety disorders. Unfortunately many suffer from this disease and because of the stigma attached keep it to themselves with sometimes fatal consequences.

If you have either taken a test or looked at the list of symptoms and even think that you may be suffering from either anxiety or depression, may I encourage you to first see your personal physician and explain your feelings. Following that, you most likely will be referred to a psychologist to discuss your thoughts and feelings. From that discussion, you may be prescribed medication like those that have been mention or some other. There are many. Today, depression can be treated with medication, therapy, and sometimes a change in lifestyle. It is nothing to fool around with if it is fairly consistent and not just being sad over a particular issue at hand. If you find yourself sad on a fairly regular basis, seek help immediately. It won't go away by itself and will only worsen.

If you care about those around you, get help for yourself so you can be there for them.

Just Curious? I took a depression test and the results showed
that I have severe depression!! Depression really sucks!!

Its kind of paralyzing, have any of you experienced depression?
If so, how did you cope with it?? I am not suicidal but I am
pretty sad all the time.

See your doctor.

Even though I have manic depression I don't think I've ever had a really severe depressive episode, although in retrospect I've had down times..

You need a good doctor though to determine whether your depression is primarily endogenous or exogenous and whatever life factors might be contributing to your condition now.

It seems you are still getting out of the house so physical activity is always good...whatever you like running, walking, swimming, cycling etc.

I can't say I have ever been depressed but if I was I would try to break things down , and take small positive steps ....the worst thing one could do while being seriously depressed would be to bet over their head, I would think.

I would think physical exercise could also be a huge factor in feeling better.

And obviously talking to someone who is a professional....I wouldn't be so quick to jump on some medication though.

As much as I have sucpicions that this is just to attention whore, I won't go that route.

I have a family member who suffers from severe depression.

Here is what to do.
1. Go to a good doctor. Tests are designed to show positives as more severe than they really are. This is to inspire you to seek help. He will diagnose you as to whether you have severe depression or any depression at all.

2. Get 1-2 hours of exercise a day.

3. Stay away from gambling and forums entirely. I know you MOD at GU, but maybe for now that is not the best thing. Losing as much money as you have in the past 10 weeks (and whether you wanna say it's 30 units or my spreadsheet that shows 64, + the Idol +nba playoffs doesn't matter) can cause your brain chemicals to go crazy. You post on here a lot, at all hours of the day and to be honest that isn't good for depression.

4. As a Mortgage loan officer, you deal with numbers all day. Your depression could be related to credit rating or a number of other factors. I really hope you haven't borrowed money in some type of shady way from your place of employment. Again, dealing with all the numbers of gambling and the numbers as a Loan Officer can be mentally draining.

5. Woody brings up a great point about the exo/endo.

6. See at least 2 different doctors. Many are very quick to prescribe medications, which may or may not be necessary.

7. Make sure to hang out with actual people and friends. Internet friends do not count, and this is important.

8. Examine your diet. Go to a nutritionist if you can afford it.

9. Layoff the weed and other drugs for the next 2 months, and during the duration of your evaluation period/ treatment.

Gyno, I enjoy messing with you and fading your plays. This however is serious, and if you are being honest here you should get this checked out.
