Phaedrus -

Kerry voted YES for the Patriot Act.

Edwards voted YES for the Patriot Act (and co-sponsored it).

...

So given the polls, if a Democrat beats Bush in the fall, it will most likely be a member of Congress who voted YES on the Patriot Act. So are you suggesting they officially censure themself?

Floyd, I maintain zero illusions as to the likelihood of what I think should happen, actually hapenning. It would be great to see a Congressman come forward with the statement of what is tacitly, even under the surface in some cases, known by all Americans -- a politician who will vote on any piece of legislation, armed with not substantial knowledge of that legislation's content, does not need to be taking an active part in the legislature. But as to whether or not I seriously think that would be, I'd sooner believe that the Blackhawks could take Minny at home -- in fact I put money on that latter bet just tonight, but I won't be putting any money on the former now or any time soon.

d2,

They said the same things about Westmorland when he was taken out of Vietnam.

Clark is a truth-challenged, Clinton puppet who was fired from his last military job and is generally detested by his former colleagues and contemporaries. Call me crazy but I think I will take a pass.

Floyd, you keed dodging my question: Do you agree with me that Hugh Shelton lied about Clark? Just answer that question. Very simple. He either lied in 99/00 or he lied in 03. One or the other. There's no way around it. Or are you going ask what the definition of "is" is?

We don't know anything specific about Clark's alleged integrity issues, but it's cleatr that Shelton is a liar. AGREE????????

...and from what I've read the Milosevic story looks true, but only the judge or Shelton could really comment on it. That's prettyu explosive though uf she personally xalled him and he confessed it was just politics. If true, would that change your opinion of Shelton. That king of politics is the definition of McCarthyism.

I'll be damned... you're right when you say that John Kerry's web site doesn't include his stand on the Patriot Act. (The same may be true for Edwards). But running a search in the forum at Kerry's official web site produces this:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Q: Would you revise or repeal the Patriot Act?

A: I strongly supported including a sunset provision in the Patriot Act. Bush reportedly plans to introduce a second "Patriot Act" - we have learned from the first Patriot Act that the last thing we need is John Ashcroft rewriting the Bill of Rights. I am alarmed by what has been reported to be part of "Patriot Act II" and I will very carefully review any new proposal and fight to ensure that it does not violate civil liberties.

You can find out a lot of information (and opinions) on the candidates by reading the forums on their web sites.

What I got a kick out of is how Bush in his speech threw the Pat act right in the laps of the phoney baloney pols...If they vote for it it dosen't go over good with a lot of people but if they go against it the pubbies can use the Patriotic card on them....Thats the thing I love the left can use the race card and the class card but whine like little school girls when the pubbies use the patriot card on them..lol.
You have to admit at least you know where the pubs stand on this. but the dems?...watch em squirm and lie when it comes their explantion for or against renewal...Bush has them by the short hairs no matter what.
