Some times I think Italians are as dumb as the rest of them - I have an idiot cousin (of course lives in Jersey) and he used to talk about all the good Gotti did for the neighborhood - like the two of them were boys or something

It really is crazy. He would have his scum mafia partners go into those neighborhood stores, demand they pay him every month...those stores would then jack up their prices on the neighborhood. Yeah, real quality guy.

There is nothing worse that Italians from NY, CT, NJ - specifically, Jersey and Staten Island - they all think they are some how connected to mafia - and they all think they're expert on all things Italian

You hurt my feelings

Betall, I grew up in New Haven and I'm 100% Italian - my grandparents lived in Boston and were ur typical immigrant Italian family - but the Jersey Shore is straight up accurate depiction of too many NE Italians - and I heard half the cast isnt even Italian

Modern technology basically put the mafia out of business - everything is recorded or taped - there is no such thing as a mobster that does not end up in jail now - fuck, cops can't even give blacks some street justice without it getting put on youtube

Modern day yeah (although I do think momentarily in the early 00s that the terrorism stuff helped them since all the FBI efforts went towards that) Sopranos touched on this a little actually and I've read some other stuff on how it helped organized crime.

What really hurt them was back in the 70s-80s they got greedy and let drugs into the neighborhoods in the name of profits. They touch on that in 2 and Don Corleone relucantly agrees to push the drugs and let them sell. Tough to have order in neighborhoods where there is rampant drug use. Junkies don't fear much.

Gotti was actually one of the main mobsters in NY to want to push the drug trade, I think he killed some other boss because he knew that boss was going to kill him over it.

There's a lot of truth to this

Lmao. What a fuking idiot you are. Did you really call me a nerd? Too funny.

You don't care who he killed because it didn't affect you? Going thru life a dumb fuck is not good. Face it, your hero was a common criminal scumbag who died in a cage and is rotting in hell with child molestors.

And ask around, lots of people in that neighborhood know he was pure scum...you're living in your own fantasy mob land.

Armand Assante was really good in it and he actually kind of looked a tad like Gotti , some decent acting and overall a pretty good movie.

Ya, he killed, robbed, extorted, and was a ruthless criminal for his entire life, but he was nice to your family so it doesn't matter. You're an asshole.
