Anyone watching that play knows that not one of the passes went forward. You can reply it over and over and you'll never see that ball go forward. They were backwards which makes it a legal play. I didn't bet a dime on that game, but something smells rotten in Denmark to me.

I didn't bet a nickel on it either, but the first lateral (LT to Chambers) WAS a forward lateral...no doubt in my mind. I watched it in slow-mo on TiVo and it was a half-yard forward (25 to 25 1/2-yard line).

No doubt...none at all.

LOL so Berman goes on to say that the laterals were legal and Troy's recovery was legal but advancing it after recovery is not allowed. WHAT A IDIOT! Of course the other team can advance the ball, its a live ball. Its sad that fat loud bonehead doesnt even know the rules of the nfl and hes espn's number one guy.

1. Any pass not forward is regarded as a backward pass. A pass parallel to the line is a backward pass. A runner may pass backward at any time.
2. A backward pass that strikes the ground can be recovered and advanced by either team.
3. A backward pass caught in the air can be advanced by either team.
4. A backward pass in flight may not be batted forward by an offensive player
