I don't think it matters what the public sentiment is 2-3 years from now, just as Pete Rose isn't getting into the HOF as long as Bud Selig is above ground, Vick will not play in the NFL no matter how much some team may clamour for him as long as Godell is commissioner. He commited a crime, he commited a crime viewed as particularly heinous in the eyes of a lot of people-including Godell-he funded and gambled on a gambling ring, and he lied to Godell and stupidly tried to stonewall. ANY ONE of those things could be in and enough, all by themselves, to suspend him, and here we've got 4 things. He's never playing again, and, frankly, even if he WERE allowed back in, I doubt that an NFL team would welcome him: his biggest asset is his speed, and that ain't getting better in what is likely to be at least 1.5 years away, there is the inevitable PETA distraction, and he wasn't giving much indication that he was going to realize his potential even before all this shit came down.
