Not to split hairs but you don't get AIDS from someone. You can get HIV (the virus that causes AIDS) but not full blown AIDS. AIDS is a condition in which your T-cell count falls below a certain # which I believe is either 500 or 200 I can't remember which. People with HIV can have many years left albeit with less sexual freedom but with AZT, 3TC and protease inhibitors they are living longer and longer. It would be tragic if they spread that to their wives and should be tried with as many charges as can be imagined for their stupidity.

This has gotta be the dumbest "scandal" in a long time. Will the ABC reporters point out that thousands of people probably come do it without investigative reporters checking it out? And then on the other side, you always get the Ticos acting like this is insulting to them that people would just come to screw your hookers, but come on you make something legal you have to expect it to happen to some degree. Just dumb period, Americans have to accept that some people in the world don't accept their moral standards and attitudes towards sex and Ticos need to accept that this setup of "arranging" for girls sure beats the hell out of them wandering the lobbies of the hotels and nightspots because without deals like this the girls would find ways to meet the demand for their service. I have to agree with Wildbill... Turns out prostitution in Costa Rica is NOT illegal, as long as the prostitute is an adult. It is only illegal to be and "agent" and to profit as such.

Conspiracy is not a crime in Costa Rica, but have to wonder if these scumbags were looking to bang minors before they arrived. If that was the advertised intention of the trip, the coordinater surely would have violated the law ESPECIALLY if he was from the USA. Its also my understanding pimping is not legal here. And regardless, any adult that wants to pay to have sex with a 16 yr old needs psychological help and doesn't belong policing his own people when he returned to states.

The "Michigan Boys" have been coming to Costa Rica for many years as part of a fishing tournament. They rent nearly every boat on the pacific coast for that week. There is also some after fishing partying but that is no different than a conventioner in LV finding some fun after the speeches are over. Neither the hotel or the trip organizers arrange for the girls but where there are 170 guys you will always find some entrepenuerial women especially in Costa Rica. This is the truth but ABC in Detroit would not have nearly as good a story
