If it is that cheap, anyone could just panhandle for a few minutes, buy their own test and then not show up until they know for certain they will test clean, despite being a heavy drug user.

they aren't that smart. You seem like the classic case of an intelligent individual fighting for idiots. (I'm not saying welfare recipients are idiots, the ones that know they will be drug tested and still do drugs are however).

None me the less I support the idea but it will never pass. When they fail the test X amount of times the government won't stop giving them govt support. It will be pictured by certain media outlets as nazi German like and murder

So you feel punishing the less fortunate in society is a way to move our country forward?

The sad part is there are far too many that take advantage of the assistance rather than using it to just get back on their feet and go out to work again.

the money that goes to these poor people on welfare is not even comparable to the corporate welfare being doled out.

So? Fix both problems then, don't ignore one because the other exists, that's just plain stupid.

Drug tests cost probably 75 cents per.

One less trip to Hawaii for the Obama family and we have the money to pay for a years worth.

You have a lot of faith in how government spends money. Sadly they don't run things like a business. They'd probably set up a whole new department to run it. They'd spend 75 cents to save a penny.

Seven states drug test welfare recipients, in six of them less than 1% pee dirty. Oklahoma is the only one to break 1% and that's because they only test people if there is a "reasonable cause," and it's still less than the estimates for the rest of the population.

Having said that Reno, do you think that nothing should be done?

Since the Govt. doesn't spend money well in other places, then the Govt. should not do anything about this?...is that your position?...

No, I'm all for anything that cuts funding or saves money. If we do something let it be smart and cost effective. I'm not interested in spending dollars to save pennies because it makes me feel good. The politician that introduced the bill for this in Florida was also part owner of the company that did the drug tests lol. Drug addicts getting food stamps is not an epidemic IMO. Drug addicts typically aren't eating much or even taking the time to get food stamps, they are getting their money by pretending to be homeless vets on the side of the freeway.

Want to hear my idea for food stamps/assistance that will save money. Make Community service a requirement to receive it. When people have to work for free to get free stuff, they will A: go back to work if they can. B: try harder to find work. Plus it's good for the community and could be a good experience.

Your solution to government waste is for them to be even more wasteful?
