Journey,
I can't believe how some guy from Baltimore can grow up as a kid being a big Expo fan. Talk about shocking!! But you are right about Vlady.. He missed close to 40 games, and if only he plays every game and never gets injured, the Spos are definitely in 1st place. Plus, don't forget, Tatis, our star 3rd baseman is out now.. El Duque, who was supposed to be our ace this year, has not pitched an inning yet this year due to injury. We are also missing 2 quality starters in Tony Armas Jr and Claudio Vargas. If you put all that into the mix, the Spos are in 1st place today and I am purchasing my World Series tickets. Still not over yet, but not looking good at all for my team as we must go about 20-6 in the last 26 games to have a chance. I always knew even when we were tied that it'd be tough and that we'd have to play .700 ball to have a chance. We lost 2 straight heart breaking 1 run losses against the team we had to beat, Florida. If the Spos don't win today and tomorrow, it's just about over.. We MUST win the next 2 or we are in serious jeopardy.
I guarantee everyone here that if the Spos come back home on Sept 14, and we are within 1 game of the Wildcard or better, we will draw 35,000 to 45,000 a game, and even sell out a few games. The city was going nuts for baseball again prior to this road trip. And I also guarantee you all that if the Spos come back home on Sept 14 down 6 games out of a Wildcard, we will draw 5,758 fans a game. This city loves a winner, not loves baseball, but loves a winner.
