I LOVE IT!!!!

Go Montreal, I have been an Expos fan since I was 15 yrs old...Use to wear their hat religiously! This may be their last hurrah and it would be sweet to see them get to the series....If Guerrero were in that order all year, they`d be up by 5 games right now....
Plus Frank Robinson managing this team it`d be nice to see Frank get to post season...Frank Robby one of the best players to ever play an no one recognizes him!

Journey,

I can't believe how some guy from Baltimore can grow up as a kid being a big Expo fan. Talk about shocking!! But you are right about Vlady.. He missed close to 40 games, and if only he plays every game and never gets injured, the Spos are definitely in 1st place. Plus, don't forget, Tatis, our star 3rd baseman is out now.. El Duque, who was supposed to be our ace this year, has not pitched an inning yet this year due to injury. We are also missing 2 quality starters in Tony Armas Jr and Claudio Vargas. If you put all that into the mix, the Spos are in 1st place today and I am purchasing my World Series tickets. Still not over yet, but not looking good at all for my team as we must go about 20-6 in the last 26 games to have a chance. I always knew even when we were tied that it'd be tough and that we'd have to play .700 ball to have a chance. We lost 2 straight heart breaking 1 run losses against the team we had to beat, Florida. If the Spos don't win today and tomorrow, it's just about over.. We MUST win the next 2 or we are in serious jeopardy.

I guarantee everyone here that if the Spos come back home on Sept 14, and we are within 1 game of the Wildcard or better, we will draw 35,000 to 45,000 a game, and even sell out a few games. The city was going nuts for baseball again prior to this road trip. And I also guarantee you all that if the Spos come back home on Sept 14 down 6 games out of a Wildcard, we will draw 5,758 fans a game. This city loves a winner, not loves baseball, but loves a winner.

And speaking of the devil, Vlady starts it off with a 2 run homer in the 1st for the Spos. Good start for my darling Expos.. Still early though, but that's 6 homers for Vlady in the last 10 days. Man this guy is good. Is there anyone better than Vlady in the Majors besides my pal in San Fran...I doubt it.. Ok.. maybe, and I say, maybe.. A Rod..

Montreal has dropped their last 2 games to Florida. They were both heartbreakers with the Expos taking a 2-1 lead to the 9th only to end up losing. Then the next night they attempted a comeback but fell short in the bottom of the 9th.

The highlight of the game was hitting Mike Lowell on the wrist and injuring him for the rest of the season. Most of you may not be aware but the Marlins pegged Vladimir is a grapefruit league game. Now that is a low thing to do but you can't get any lower than Jeffrey Loria owning your team.

Sorry Marlins, payback is a bitch!

I am giving the Expos nothing but bad luck posting about them so after this post I will retire from this thread until the Expos arrive in Peutro Rico.

King, I swear, I don't know if I dreamt it or not, but I think I recall reading the french paper here "Le Journal de Montreal" saying that they believe Major League Baseball is not going to go to Puerto Rico for those 6 games this year because of rumors of hurricanes. That would be awesome news, especially if they came back 2 games out or less.. And also, another thing I don't know if I dreamt it or read it, is that I heard the Spos will be back for another year here. Now if this one is true, I am going out to get drunk tonight and celebrate, not to mention scream right now. This would be the greatest news in the world if this were true.

Can anyone confirm hearing any of these 2 pieces of news. And yes King of Picks, stay out of this thread because we were cleaning up till you came in here. We haven't won a game since. You have singlehandedly jinxed the Spos.. Just kidding, but if you heard of this or anyone else has, pls fill me in.

sick, I think MLB and especially Selig secretly hope the Spos HAVE to fly into PR during a hurricane minus Hernandez, Vidro, Vasquez and Vlad who just happened to be having dinner with Steinbrenner at that instant.

Since you are obviously an Spos fan (like me), I still maintain Eli should have been MVP in 1987. Without him, there is NO way they are 4 back at the end. Hawk did wonders for the last place Flubs.

Instead of being 18.5 GBL, they might have been 25 GBL!!! Nice choice.

Well I needed to have a favorite National League team And I liked the hat! Then came Dawson, Cromartie, Valentine and Raines and the rest! Plus they gave us (Balt) Ken Singleton 25years ago!
Sick had you ever went to old "Jarry Park" that place only held like 25 000 ?

I believe somehow Montreal still has its Expos next year!

Logan, it's funny how you are talking about some incident that didn't occur 16 years ago. lol.. I've never heard anyone discuss this even in 1987, and you are now.. I can't believe of all the things that have occured in this team's history, that you would talk about this...I thought maybe you'd talk about the 94 strike when we had the best record, or the fire sale after that losing all our players, but instead, you talk about who should have won MVP in '87. That is classic stuff by you Logan..

Journey

yes, been to Jarry Park, but it's a blur for me, as I was only a kid back then. But I do remember going with my big brother and his friends and sitting in the bleachers just enjoying being a kid and how great life was back then.. I hope you're right about the spos staying one more year here.

As for my Spos, folks, it looks like it's over now. Like I said from the beginning, it's going to be very hard. They now have to go about 19-5 to have any chance at the wildcard. Indeed, it will take about 90 wins to make it, maybe even 91 or 92 wins. So 19-5 is about right, maybe even 21-3 the rest of the way. Oh well, it was nice those last 4 days in Montreal with the 4 game sweep and seeing the fans react here like in 79,80 and 81 when baseball was the #1 sport here back then.. At least I lived it one more for old time sakes before they leave. The only hope now is we win the next 3 in a row vs Fla and Philly, and if we do, I can start having hope again. You still never know boys, stranger things have happened, and like we always say in life, hope is always better than no hope at all..That's what makes life so great and what gets us up out of bed every morning with a smile on our face..

A very sad day in Montreal indeed boys.

oh well, it looks like it's just about over for my beloved Expos now. We just got swept 4 straight by the 1st place team.. Had we just won 3 of 4 games, we'd still be in sole possession of first place now. And we really should have won 3 of 4 as we got stiffed big time.. Oh well, at least it was nice to have lived those days last week again in this city and re live the good memories again of what it was like when this town was a serious baseball town at one time. We now have 23 games to go, and we MUST go 19-4 in those 23 games if we expect any chance at post season play. Not going to be easy. It will take around 90 wins to capture the wildcard.

But what bugged me the most is the fan interest in Florida. Here we have a team today that is going for the sweep of 4 games, and are in 1st place, it's Labor Day today, a holiday for everyone, and there was 12,000 seats sold for this game, and about ONLY 5,000 people in the stands. I swear to god, if this game was in Montreal today and we were in 1st place going for 4 game sweep on Labor day, there would have been close to 50,000 fans. There is just no interest in Florida for baseball, and here we are about to lose our team for life, and Florida is not going anywhere. This is so unfair boys. I can't understand why no one goes out to see a 1st place team in Florida on a Labor day holiday, and we here in Montreal drew over 20,000 fans in a weekday working day afternoon here last week.. This is not fair. Florida should go, and MLB should keep the Spos.

Oh well, unless the Expos sweep the 2 games vs Philly coming up (must must wins) I will be changing my Avatar once again. I just can't keep looking at that avatar unless they are winning..It'll break my heart..

Sick, Jeffrey Luria can go fvck himself.

I am still bitter that a hr hitter on a shit team can win MVP. Obviously Eli was the Most Valuable Player to His team that year. Without him, the Spos are neck and neck with the Flubs for last in 87. 26 hr and 123 rbi and no one else on that team was even close. Even the Big Cat's numbers were way off. The contenders I think should have been both Clarks (Will the Thrill and ex-LA Dodger hitting coach, Jack) and HoJo. The only problem is that those teams also had other pretty good hitters like Chili Davis and Coke Head Strawberryl with the Cards being the exception with their mosquito attack so Jack Clark can't be ruled out.

Andre Dawson MVP? Jeffrey Luria can go fvck himself.

Well, that's it, I said that I would be changing my Avatar if the Expos don't win the 2 games vs Philly, and it looks like this dumb Avatar did nothing to me but bring me bad luck. Geez, ever since I put that stupid expos logo on my Avatar, I don't think they won a game, as they have now lost 5 straight. I should have kept that Indians one, at least they were winning with that one and it was bringing my spos good luck.

Tonight, Marlins lose, and expos have a chance to gain a full game and get back in the race with a 3-2 lead late, and of course blow another one. Oh well, looks like I will never see my spos ever win a world series. Looks like it is over now, UNLESS, the Spos go 19-3 in their last 22 games, or even 20-2, who knows.. But they do need at least 19 of the next 22 games to win if they want a chance to win it. How can things be going so good just 5 days ago, and today, all crashes down. I am so depressed. I am going to go get drunk now because I am so sad.. Had we held on tonight, there might have been 40,000 fans a game next week here. But now, we can expect our usual 5200 fans..if we're lucky..

Now I got to think of a new Avatar that will maybe bring my Spos good luck, and back on the winning track again. Maybe I should go back with the Indians logo. They were cleaning up with it.. Ahh, we'll see. I need time to think of a good one now...
