If you like history, the WW2 Museum is awesome. I'm not big on museums in general, but this one was amazing. Highly recommend.

They have a new willie maes in the new Pythian market near the quarter.
It’s pretty much just as good.
Commanders for brunch for sure.
Just walk down bourbon once...on your way to Frenchman.
We go to Nola about 5x a year. Just got back this weekend

Dont let the smell of piss and shit ruin a meal for you.
New orleans is just filthy as a tourist city gets.

The best fried chicken in NO comes from a gas station/convenience store called Brothers market.
Crazy white people who like to overpay for shit just to brag how they ate in the ghetto
will try and tell you willue mae is best but this chicken at one third the price is superior.

peche is my new fave restaurant
luke for happy hour oysters [i'm terrified of getting sick; this is a more upscale place so i feel a bit safer here]
august for michelin star level food
kingfish for cocktails

brothers has great fried chicken for what it is, but it's not willie mae's
commander's palace - sunday brunch specifically is what you should go to if you haven't; need reservations.
if you're willing to take a short drive, jacques imos uptown is great for more casual creole/cajun/local food. if you want something a bit fancier for sit down dinner, atchafalaya.

for breakfast, toast is the best imo. however, it isn't downtown. willa jean is new-ish, very popular, and has good food.

I will second going to Luke for Happy Hour Oysters. They do it 7 days a week until 6 PM and the oysters are .75 each. Make sure you also try the fried oysters. I was just there two weeks ago (I go every several months-Harrahs puts me up).

Agree across the board here.
Toast is great.
Atchafalaya is one of the best in the city for sure. Gris-Gris is another good one down in the lower garden for breakfast, etc.
And LUKE for hh. Wife makes us go there every time.
Superior Seafood is another good hh oyster spot in the garden district.
Turkey and Wolf and cochon butcher are great sandwich and drink spots. Cochon butcher has sneaky good bourbon as well...had $20 William Larue Weller pours there last time.

Garden district is where it's at...we are looking at buying here at some point.

Make sure you visit Madame Tinkertoy's House of Blue Lights. Call the Governor's office to get a pass.

no way that's you!

Had a party of 7 a couple months ago at Galatoires lunch...4 of them got the special which was some kind of drum. And it was legit the most flavorless meat I'd ever tasted. I didn't order it but everyone else there that did sent it back. I've never been around anyone doing this a nice restaurant and the server was PISSED (even though she had nothing to do with it). They didn't even order anything else.
My food came out cold. but I powered through it.

they do still have the best gumbo on the planet though. get that. and eh taylor single bbl was only $14 a pour! I'd been there a few times before, but I'm done with them and done recommending them now.
