Anyone who looks at the facts knows damn well that global warming is 100% real. There's really no way to deny it if you've actually done a little research.

Folks watching their homes burn in Cal (ever see an uncontrolled wildfire at night?-you won't ever forget it) might say that the temperature increase (Rep Gov Schwarzenegger poured the Texas cool aid out on the ground and declared that there is a connection 'tween global warming and their 'year around' wildfires) is not 'optimal'.

Forecasters predict local snow, chills to continue

It's not unusual for Central Ohio to be caught in winter's frosty grip at the beginning of January.
But some forecasters are concerned that unlike in past years, there won't be any moderation in the weather patterns that have brought an onslaught of snow and frigid wind chills in recent weeks.
AccuWeather forecasters are calling this the worst winter in 25 years.
"It'll be like the great winters of the '60s and '70s," said Joe Bastardi, AccuWeather.com chief meteorologist and expert long-range forecaster.
According to Accu-Weather.com, the last time a large swath of severely low temperatures struck the nation was in January 1985. That historic arctic outbreak had below-zero temperatures stretching from Chicago eastward to New York City, and all the way south to Macon, Ga.
Bastardi said the upcoming days will bring cold not seen since 1985 or 1982, but he believes this winter is shaping up much that of like 1977-78.
Nearly all of the United States east of the Rockies had a cold October followed by a warm November, with the cold returning in December.
That winter was known locally for the Blizzard of '78, when the area was socked by heavy snow, closing schools and businesses and knocking out power around the region.
"What it boils down to is, the past several winters in a large part of the country have been pretty mellow," said Tom Kines, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. "The storms have been kind of localized and haven't affected the large population centers."
But that's changed in the past couple of months, "as cold, stormy weather is affecting just about everybody as far as the cold pattern we're getting into."
While cold temperatures often are a given in the northern tier of states and the Midwest, residents of the southern United States are getting a taste of it, too.
"It was 46 degrees for the high a couple of days ago in Tampa, 58 degrees in West Palm," Kines said. "People are buying jackets and mittens down there."
Chris Bradley, chief meteorologist at WBNS-10 TV in Columbus, said Central Ohio is definitely off to a cold start this winter.
"The long-range forecast was for well below average temperatures all along ... and so far this trend appears to be coming true," Bradley said.
Meteorologists across the country have different explanations for the cold snap, from the effects of the Pacific El Niño to weather patterns over Greenland steering colder-than-usual air down through the middle of Canada.
"This is being caused by an El Niño global weather pattern, which tends to send cold air into the Ohio Valley and Eastern United States," Bradley said.
AccuWeather's Jim Andrews said the weather pattern around Greenland is responsible for the cold burst, encompassing a massive portion of the United States. He said it will continue to affect Europe.
"A winter like this may have temperatures warming to normal occasionally, but extreme weather will reload and come back even colder," Bastardi said.
Bradley said Columbus area snow totals are already approaching a foot.
"Hard to believe ... but these little snows are adding up and we have already seen twice our average snowfall," he said.
Travel tips
With the cold temperatures and snowy weather, AAA recommends everyone check that vehicle batteries, coolant levels, lights and signals, tires, windshield washer and wipers are in good condition.
"When making a trip, you should make sure people know your travel plans, the route you are taking and estimated time of arrival," AAA Ohio spokesman Bill Purpura said.
Purpura said AAA Ohio is getting a lot of lockout calls from people with newer vehicles.
"People are starting their vehicles and then getting out of the cars and scraping the windows," Purpura said. "But many of the newer models have timed locks on the doors and the doors are locking before the drivers get back into the cars."
Every car should also have an emergency road kit for the winter that includes:

Ice scraper and brush.

Boots, gloves and hat.

Tools and flashlight.

Tire traction material like sand or cat litter.

Food and a blanket.

Jumper cables.

First-aid kit.

Cell phone.

Flares or reflective triangles.
"Another good thing to have is a folding camper's shovel," Purpura said. "They don't take a lot of room and can come in very handy."
As for driving, Purpura said drivers need to slow down during winter weather, leave plenty of distance between vehicles and don't do anything erratic like sudden stopping or speeding.
"A few fairly simple things and you should be prepared for winter driving," Purpura said.

If it is more cold than normal, that would ALSO be an indication of global warming (because global warming brings temperatures to the extremes). You know that, right?

This sort of logic cracks me up. If its too warm, global warming...if its too cold, global warming...if its too dry, global warming...if its too rainy, global warming. It has become a religion and if you arent a believer, you are a heretic.

If humans never existed i don't think it would be any colder in tampa today...

Whatever the cause of the cooling trend, its effects could be extremely serious, if not catastrophic.
Scientists figure that only a 1% decrease in the amount of sunlight hitting the earth's surface could tip
the climatic balance, and cool the planet enough to send it sliding down the road to another ice age
within only a few hundred years.

Haha. Tell me, how many years in a row does the global temperature need to drop before people will start to panic about global cooling?

It's January in Idaho and we've had snow on the ground for just a few hours this winter. Bogus ski resort has lost $2 million in revenue. Figured I'd put this here. Today was sunny enough for me to wear a t-shirt with no coat.

Clue to the sheeple: Temperatures come in cycles, and it has nothing to do with how much toilet paper you use, or how much beef you eat.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Aaron Boone woke up before heading to the ballpark for his first home opener as Yankees manager and peeked outside the window.
“Huh,” he recalled saying to himself. “It really is 100 percent chance of snow at 7 a.m.”
Two hours later, the Bombers’ much-anticipated home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday was postponed due to snow.
