"Arnold Galiffa". How about DeWitt Tex Coulter, Rip Rowen, Barnie Poole?? LOL loved those Army teams, was glued to the radio every Sat. to listen. Broke my heart when ND w/all those mature service vets tied em 0-0. Damn that Lujack!! Was TDY in Alaska When Doc was a commander up there,

That was my favorite team. I was 5 or 6 and we went to my uncles house who had the first TV in town & Rip Rowan ran for a 90 yard TD I even forget who they were playing but I remember a relative saying 'Rowan runs 90 yds. and he doesn't get credit for a 1st down!
Galiffa was my favorite player, led Army to 2 undefeated seasons 2 top 10 rankings and was 4th in the Heisman voting in 49. He was
the only Army 11 letterman in the 3 major sports. From 46 to 49 Baseball & College Football were by far the most popular sports.
Life & Time Magazines Sports figures that made the cover in that time frame didn't include one pro football or pro basketball players,
Sports figures on the covers were college stars Doc Blanchard, Glenn Davis, Johnny Lujack, Charley Justice & Arnold Galiffa along with
Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial & Jackie Robinson.

Loved Penny when he was with the Magic early on.

He was atop the list of NBA's best.

Remember him torching Jordan & Pippen in the playoffs?

Neither could stop him and at times he made them look foolish...
