The UN is useless when ya really get down to the big picture ...

It has become a puppet for the Arab world to vent their frustrations with Israel

The Palestinians are nothing more than pawns used by Arab dictators to paint Israel in a negative light

The problem for Israel is that it was a child borne of the UN system.
Without the UN, it simply would not exist.

Since its creation, Israel has broken almost every rule in the book, like a delinquent child.
Consequently it gets lots of detention.

But it created Israel.

As far as I'm concerned, the UN is just like the League of Nations - and it's authority belongs in the same trash can.


That being said, the UN does provide a degree of stabilisation in the world community.
As long as the US doesn't put our troops under UN authority - EVER - then we should continue our membership - it's does allow the rest of the United States to see how much the rest of the world hate us - that we are alone on the world stage and can trust no one!

With all due respect, you failed to make the distinction yourself. You accused the UN, not some UN members, as being anti-Semitic. I agree with you fully that anti-Semitism is the order of things in the ME, but I don't agree that it is official UN policy.

Good point. I was being sarcastic when I said Arafat would be a leading contender for UN head if he was alive, and taken as a whole the UN would be more anti-Israel than anti-Jewish. But there are 60+ Arab/Muslim countries in the UN out of 191 nations, and many countries are so busy appeasing the wealthy oil states that they will tend to go along with the Arabs rather than creating problems.
