That is true, but the difference is in other big talent-rich states like Florida, Texas, and California there are several options of big name schools to play for whereas in Georgia it is one really big school...Most don't grow up wanting to play for Georgia Tech and may not have the academics anyway.........So then you get all these players from Georgia showing up on teams like Auburn (a reason why some call them West Georgia) and several other schools looking to play the game of their life against the Georgia Bulldogs since they grew up here in Georgia, but there wasn't enough scholarships to go around.........This doesn't even include the major rivalry game against Florida that Georgia plays each year.

Yes, Tennessee has made a living with good players from Georgia. Jamal Lewis, Cosey Coleman, Deon Grant led the national champ in 1998...all from Georgia.

I'm not even sure who UGA's main rival is. I guess Auburn? Ga Tech isn't a rivalry. If the other team wins every game, it's not a rivalry. Like Florida for so many years.....UGA thought it was a rivalry, but Florida saw FSU and Tenn as their big rivals.

Fans will probably tell you Florida (The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party) and obviously series is even more interesting now since Georgia has won 3 Straight, the series is 5-5 the last 10 years which is a true rivalry game now ..........The players might tell ya Auburn as their biggest rival (since Auburn usually has piles of players from Georgia on there and they played against each other in High School)

As far as Tennesse and South Carolina they are more natural, geographical border wars plus both those schools recruit the state.....Clemson is even closer geographically than Colombia and they recruit the state of Georgia heavy...........As far as Georgia Tech, 7 out of last 10 games in series have been decided by 8 or less (a GT win as well in there), including a double-overtime game last year that the Dawgs won so its not a picnic...........Furthermore, only 1 of the last 10 games against Tech has been a blowout (21 point win or higher)

yeah, that's a weird one. the UGA folks i know claim it's Florida but the Florida fans I know hardly put UGA on their radar with fsu and tenn far more important. then they'll tell you #2 is allbarn but we all know who the barn fans really care about (hint: it's not georgia).

reminds me of LSU. they hate bama, we don't really care about them (too much hate for barn and tenn to add a 3rd team)...and other than that they have this sort of made-up rivalry with arkansas to go with. maybe the lsu/aTm will turn into something as they compete for recruiting but in reality starkville is their closest rival and ole miss has them spoken for.

I thought LSU's main rival is Ole Miss although maybe it is to Ole Miss fans.

Dylan Thompson sucks. He's scared to death out there.

Our D misses tackles like there's no tomorrow. Scared to hit as well. Safety play is atrocious, and B. Williams needs to be moved back to have any chance at a decent D.

I don't see how they stop Gurley without finding a way to be physical and tackle this week.

If anything, the line makes me optimistic because it screams trap, because the play and mentality of SCar hasn't shown any reason to make this game close.

Yo brother, I could not agree with you more about moving Brison Williams back to safety. That became painfully obvious in the aTm game. I also wish our CBs would run more press coverage. Fucking 2nd/3rd and 2 and the corners are giving an 8 yard cushion. Shit, if the corner has good balance and can run, press. At a bare minimum it forces the WR to show his hand sooner as far as where he's going. The middle of the field is wide the fuck open too. But a damn LB in a robber or something. I dunno man. Whatever. You heading out there Saturday? I'm already conceding a loss, that way I can tailgate and have a good time and not let it ruin my day. Basically the mindset I had going into the Mizzou game last year. And look what happened...ha!

Win, are you the same WinOne who mods the newsletters thread on another site I frequent??
No Sir!! Way too busy with work and running business to be a mod for anyone. I'm just trying to keep my engineers in line and make a buck or two.

Hey guys...hate to do this, but I need to jump into your forum here looking for some information. Thank you for your time...ANYWAY does anyone remember that up until two years ago we could get that page in Tuesday's USA Today that gave all the little mini-schedules with the past results ALL ON THE SAME PAGE? Many Many Many college football handicappers used that page each week because it had all the information you needed right there. Does anyone out there remember what I'm talking about? A moderator perhaps? Any feedback would be great. Any place to get anything similar? I know this seems like an odd post to some but I bet there is a hardcore DG out there that knows what I'm talking about.
THANK YOU

I would also like to add this...UGA's front 7 looked nasty. In one game. Against Clemson, who has a God awful OL. SoCar's OL, while underperforming tremendously thus far this year, is still better than Clemson's. I'm not saying the UGA front is not good. I'm just waiting until they play against better OLs before I make that determination.

People's eyes and emotions tell them UGA in a blow out. History and the data says otherwise. That's why the line opened at 2.5

I have UGA in a season total bet and I need them to win, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is a close game. I think it will be right around the line, which makes it a no play for me. I will be surprised if UGA wins by 2 td's

If you have watched this cocks team and Spurrier's interviews...I'm not sure he's even 100% sold on this team either. I see Georgia making Thompson win this game and that's a a tall order for him....then again I am on fade watch so. Take it for what its worth. I just can't bet on a team who rolled out a half broken Connor Shaw over this Thompson kid last year. Probably should be a no bet but Georgia knows they can grab the east with this win early.

I'm kinda liking the points with the OBC here, think the wrong team might be favored. I know S Caro has looked like poop on a stick thus far, but how often do you get points with them at home? That bye week for Georgia, I'm not sure it helps them this early in the season as they've had an awful long time to soak up that Clemson win. Looks like they are going to be lining up to bet on the Dawgs?

To expound on what I said earlier about UGA and their defense...I just watched Film Room with Belotti and Luginbill. They covered a few plays of the UGA defense from the Clemson game. Ok, here's one thing. Everybody is hyping the UGA front seven. But they're basing that off of one game. Clemson. And let's be honest, Clemson's OL is one of the weakest units on their entire team. Moreover, their RBs can't block for shit when they stay in to pass pro. I don't doubt that the UGA front seven is good. But I'm just saying people should wait until they play a better OL before they start saying they're the best in the land. ALSO, their defense has been pretty piss poor compared to the talent they have had the last 4-5 years. And I think most of that is on Grantham. I think he's a shitty DC and his scheme sucks. What I'm saying is, bringing in Pruitt with the talent they're already had, of course their defense is going to be immensely improved. Now, SoCar's OL hasn't been that good. But I've seen flashes. In the aTm game there were plenty of times where DT had all day to throw. IF, and that's a big if, the SC OL can play at the level they're capable of, I like the matchup of SC's WRs against the UGA secondary. Problem is, DT has not been making good throws. He can. But he hasn't. I'm just saying do we *really* know how good UGA's defense is after one game against one of the worst OLs they will face all year?

Almost sounds like you are trying to talk yourself out of UGA being the "lock" you once thought they were???

My two cents- SCarolina's defense has looked like garbage so far, including their LBs who were supposed to be a strength. Poor angles to the ball carrier and terrible tackling have just added to the lack of a pass rusher and extremely green DBs to make this arguably their worst D since before SOS arrived. However, the D may not be as bad as people think. Beginning the season against aTm & ECU was the worst possible 2-game stretch for this D (other than if Clemson replaced ECU). A&M is quite possibly much better than anyone expected (remains to be seen) & facing off against 2 straight spread-HUNH teams is tough for any team breaking in a bunch of new personnel, especially when it involves your DBs. UGA's offense is much different and is a much better matchup for Lorenzo Ward's defense, IMO, and I don't think the D will be as much of a liability this weekend as some are thinking.

With all that said, I just don't see Spurrier pulling this one off. Too much inexperience at key spots for Carolina & for the first time in a few years, there is a noticeable talent discrepancy between the two squads (even though the recruiting rankings are usually shaded towards UGA). I don't see this being the blowout that some are predicting, but I also don't see UGA winning by less than 7. Most likely it will be close into the 2nd half with the teams trading blows, then UGA will break off a big play to extend the lead to 2 scores & Carolina won't be able to make a big stop or get a turnover to make up that difference. The SEC East picture will be much clearer after this Saturday.

I just remember a few years back, Carolina sucked; went to Sanford between the Hedges with Tanneyhill the qb; Cocks won in g they had no business playing; just feel Cocks are a trapped, cornered rat; and Old Ball Coach won an ACC championship at Duke; lol; at Duke; he'll have the troops ready...jmho; hope it's a good game...
