The Risk Factor is obviously Kennel and not knowing how they will respond. And that is enough to keep people off this game. Experience has taught me that on games like this, always go against the greatest risk, in this case that being denver and a 3rd string QB against an angry Ray Lewis and a determined Brian Billick hell bent on staying atop the AFC North. Im a Homer This weekend..going with my Ravens - 3

hey,sphinc...your points are very solid esp. the trends of past not being super applicable due to lewis bringing a whole new belief system to the table..very similar to the cowboys bucking tons of negative trends this year from their past.

last week i was one of the few 25-30% on the bengals ... so who knows..i'd love to stay with them..i just can't as i really believe seattle is better than they have played and that cincy may have an emotional letdown.that game meant a lot to lewis.more of ravens not showing up than cincy looked so good.

i think holmgren is getting soft. if parcells had these guys they wouldn't be so wishy/washy vs. the spread.

good luck to you as well.

DENVER -- Danny Kanell missed Friday's practice with the flu, leaving the Denver Broncos with just one healthy quarterback for Sunday's game at Baltimore.

Newly re-signed quarterback Jarious Jackson took all the snaps during the Friday workout -- and he said he was coming down with a cold. Kanell, who was vomiting and experiencing other symptoms of the flu, was given intravenous fluids.

Kanell was listed as probable on the injury report, though coach Mike Shanahan said it was uncertain if he would be available Sunday.

"We'll wait and see," Shanahan said. "I really don't know. We'll see how he is in a couple of days. He's a little bit dehydrated. We gave him some IVs, and hopefully he'll be all right by game time."

The Broncos are extremely short-handed at quarterback: Starter Jake Plummer is out with a broken left foot and backup Steve Beuerlein was placed on injured reserve this week after breaking the pinkie finger on his throwing hand in Sunday's loss at Minnesota.

Kanell, the third-string quarterback, replaced the injured Beuerlein against the Vikings and was expected to start the next two games until Plummer returned. The Broncos signed Jackson on Wednesday as Kanell's backup.

Wide receiver Rod Smith is Denver's emergency quarterback.

Jackson was cut by the team two months ago. In his previous three seasons in Denver, he played in four games, completing 7 of 13 passes.

Jackson said he is taking medicine to try to reduce the discomfort of an oncoming cold.

Jackson said offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak jokingly told the players "to go lock ourselves up tonight. I think that's the plan for the majority of players, at least the quarterbacks. Hopefully we can give Danny something to get him healthy."

Although Kanell and Jackson both have had limited work with the offense, Jackson said, "I think both of us are ready. I think we have a good game plan going into this game, and it's going to be a dogfight."

Looks like the Ravens are the obvious play here, right? Even if Denver tries to carry their offense on the back of Portis, they've still got to air the ball out from time to time with one of these two clowns, which doesn't look good if you're a Denver fan, right? Not to mention the possibility of fumbled snaps and muffed hand-offs with some guy thrown into the system at the last minute. Rat-face is know for decepttion when it comes to quarterback injuries so I would think that it's still possible Kanell might still suit up to play on Sunday.

Remember the "all powerfull" team that rolled into Baltimore in Prime Time and was destroyed by the Ravens D... Expect more of the same tomorrow.

Apparently Fouts is out of the booth to suit up for the Broncos tomorrow. They can't simply hand the ball off to Portis on EVERY play and hope for the best... Killer Ray will eat his lunch if that is there plan.

I know this thread started a couple of days ago and EVERYONE was on Denver, but I think B'more wins this one easily tomorrow. Both teams banged up here, but Baltimore at home with the much better D and more starters in key positions (see QB).

Good luck though!

BTF.

winbet, thanks dude, hopefully I turn around the cold streak this weekend.... sometimes I get into trouble not doing enough research, then you feel like if you research someting too much then you loos e proper perspective, there's gotta be a sweet spot somewhere. Usually personally witnessing the games take place is more telling than the stats. I think at the very least I should be checking injury lists before laying down dough on these games though...

I don't know, even with some no-name guy at the helm Denver is still capable of beating almost any tema of they play well, and the refs let ethem get away with murder at the offensive line position, which they do in Dever, might be a different story in Balt though..
