Take ‘Under’ 7.0 – Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26)
The playoffs are around the corner, and we have a month of moneymaking left (+$12,700 so far this year). The Pittsburgh Pirates are in the playoffs for the second consecutive year, but these games are still important for positioning. They still have a shot at the division, and if they don’t win that they surely want to host the wild card game. Vance Worley will try to come through once again for the Bucs as he was dominant in his last outing against the Brewers. He went eight innings without allowing a run and surrendered just four hits and no walks. It was a pressure-packed game for both teams, and Worley rose to the occasion. The Cincinnati Reds will be a much more low-key game as they have wanted the season to be over for some time. The Reds have completely collapsed since the All-Star break, and their hitting is one of the main reasons. Without Joey Votto in the middle of the lineup, it’s been tough for the rest of the guys with no one really picking up the slack. Mike Leake is slated to get the ball for the Reds on Friday as he makes his 33rd start of the season. He’s turned in another solid season with a 3.78 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. This one feels like a 3-2 type of final based on the circumstances, so we’ll take a shot going under the total here.
