NEWSLETTER Major League Baseball Prediction From Jason Sharpe

Take #927 St. Louis (+115) over Baltimore (7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8)
A very quiet trade that no one has talked much about involved the St. Louis Cardinals acquiring Justin Masterson from the Cleveland Indians last week. Masterson is the exact kind of ground ball type pitcher that has excelled in the past for St. Louis. Despite having a rocky season overall this year so far, Masterson has shown in the past he has excellent stuff and can have elite levels games from time to time. A change of scenery should only help him this year. The Baltimore Orioles continue to surprise many that follow baseball closely including myself. The Orioles find ways to win games and have really been doing well lately in close contests. Chris Tillman goes for them here and is pitching much better of late but he’s still just an average pitcher at best. Baltimore has taken advantage of an American League East division that is way down this year compared to past seasons. Take St. Louis here.

NEWSLETTER NFL Preseason Prediction From Allen Eastman

Take #266 Carolina (+1.5) over Buffalo (7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8)
I want to get the football season started with an NFL winner! This play isn’t from my amazing NFL 411 System (115-76 for $19,200 profit) but I still like it nonetheless. The Bills are ready for a letdown. It was an emotional weekend for the Bills and their fans last weekend in Canton. And it ended with Buffalo losing to the Giants. Now Buffalo has to go back on the road for the second straight game and play for the second time in less than a week. They are not going to care much about this game and I think that fatigue is going to be a factor. Especially if it is hot and humid down in Carolina. Carolina actually has revenge for a tough loss in Buffalo early last season and I think this game means a lot more to the Panthers. I think that the wrong team is favored in this game. I am going to take Carolina.

NEWSLETTER Major League Baseball Prediction From Doc’s Sports

Take ‘Under’ 7.0 – Chicago White Sox at Seattle (10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8)
Two of my favorite starting pitchers to back are facing off on Friday night in Seattle. Jose Quintana is one of the more underrated starters in the league, as his teammate Chris Sale draws most of the attention in Chicago. Quintana owns a sparking 3.04 ERA and 1.23 WHIP despite pitching in a hitter’s park for half of his starts. He is also a very consistent pitcher that you can count on each and every start. In his 23 starts, only three times has he given up more than three earned runs. Seattle counters with Hisashi Iwakuma – another arm that doesn’t get enough publicity pitching in the Northwest. Iwakuma is 9-6 with a 2.94 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 18 starts. He’s had a spectacular career and also plays second fiddle to King Felix much like Quintana does to Sale. With these pitchers going, you can rest assured that neither is going torched on the mound. These two offenses certainly aren’t intimidating, so this one sets up as a nice pitcher’s duel. The bullpens probably won’t get much work either, but when they do we’ll likely only see the 8th and 9th inning arms. It’s hard to imagine seeing many runs in this matchup, so we’ll play the Under.

#4 PHOENIX COURT (ML=6/1)
#8 MADAM GRACE (ML=12/1)

PHOENIX COURT - This rider/conditioner duo has been producing a very favorable ROI, right at +278. This mare won on March 28th at a higher class level and the same 1 mile distance as today. Another way to evaluate class is EPS (earnings per start). This thoroughbred has the highest in the field. I think she'll be close at the finish. MADAM GRACE - Taking this rider/trainer combination is a good move.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 ZEFFEE (ML=5/2), #5 DREAMCASTLE (ML=3/1), #3 LA STUPENDA (ML=5/1),

ZEFFEE - ********** a somewhat easily forgotten rating last out in a $6,250 Claiming race on July 20th. Doubtful to see an improved performance off of that figure. DREAMCASTLE - Quite unimpressive rating last out at Gulfstream at 1 mile. Don't believe this mount will improve too much in today's event. LA STUPENDA - 86/57/52, are the declining speed figures for this runner.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - PHOENIX COURT - This mare has been claimed twice in her last two starts. Be sure to give this magnificent animal your gambling support in this contest.

#9 BIRD ROCKETTE (ML=4/1)
#7 PROVE IT ALL NIGHT (ML=10/1)

BIRD ROCKETTE - Using this rider/handler combination is a good move. I think that the addition of the 'shades' today will keep her mind on the race at hand. PROVE IT ALL NIGHT - Saez comes to saddle up after getting to know the filly in the last event. Have to forget about that last race on the turf. This filly should do better hitting the main track right here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 MURMURE (ML=7/5), #2 MOLLY JORDAN (ML=5/1), #10 SWEETHOTS (ML=8/1),

MURMURE - This horse just hasn't looked fit recently. This filly hasn't had any recent success in sprint events. I find it hard to invest in her in this event. MOLLY JORDAN - Difficult to bet on at 5/1 odds after the most recent outings. No value in betting this less than sharp equine. Probably won't improve off that July 24th event. SWEETHOTS - Hasn't been coming close at all recently.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Have to go with #9 BIRD ROCKETTE on the win end if we get at least 8/5 odds

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 7 TONY TILE 5/2

# 8 SON OF SPARTA 3/1

# 6 LUDICROUS SPEED 4/1

TONY TILE has a very strong shot to take this race. Keep this gelding in your exotics as Panici has given backers some double digit profits. Has very strong front-end speed and will almost certainly fare soundly versus this field. Sound average Equibase Speed Figs in dirt route races make this racer a solid choice. SON OF SPARTA - Has very strong Equibase Class Figures relative to this group of horses - worth a look. Boasts formidable Speed Figures on average overall when matched with the rest of this group. LUDICROUS SPEED - Overall the Equibase Speed Figures of this racer look very good in this contest. Had one of the top Equibase Speed Figures of this group in his last contest.

#7 BOBBY'S KITTEN
#1 GIVE NO QUARTER
#2 MATTERHORN
#6 BASHART

Well folks .. if you have not been to Saratoga in the past ... The National Museum of Racing was incorporated in historic Saratoga Springs, New York, in 1950 and moved to its present site on Union Avenue, across the street from Saratoga Race Course, in 1955. The Hall of Fame was created to recognize and honor deserving horses, jockeys, and trainers. Here in the 30th renewal of this stakes event, which was originally known as The Gallant Man Stakes, #7 BOBBY'S KITTEN takes a class drop (-7), is the pace profile leader, and has produced a quartet of "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in his last 5 outings, hitting the board in three, including a pair of "POWER RUN WINS" found in his 2nd and 4th races back, which is indicative of a Bounce Pattern folks, and the BoUnCe will be UP/POSITIVE this afternoon if this pattern continues. #1 GIVE NO QUARTER is the overall speed and pace profile leader in this field this afternoon racing at, or about, 8½ furlongs on the turf, and has posted a pair of "POWER RUN WINS" in his last four "adventures!"

#3 TRIBAL SPY
#1 MASTER THE BLUES
#5 DELTA FLOWER
#2 KINZ FUNKY MONKEY

#3 TRIBAL SPY takes a class drop (-2) this afternoon, and has produced "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in each of her last five outings, hitting the board in four, including a trio of "POWER RUN WINS" being embedded in this recent streak of racing consistency. #1 MASTER THE BLUES, a 4-1 shot, has also scored with a trio of "POWER RUN WINS" in her last five outings. The morning line favorite is #5 DELTA FLOWER who won three straight in her 2nd through her 4th races back, with two of those efforts also qualifying as "POWER RUN WINS!" Jockey Rafael Bejarano and Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer send her to the post for the "Friday Night Feature" ... they've hit the board with 69% of nearly 150 entries saddled as a team to date.

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#6 BRAVA GENIUS (ML=7/2)
#10 ONE HOT TAMOLLY (ML=8/1)

BRAVA GENIUS - Mello should have her moving solid on the turn. Trainer Tracy moves this horse down the class ladder to face a lower level today. Look for a good performance given this drop. Another way to judge class is earnings per start. This horse has the top in the group. I think she'll be close at the finish. I like the fact that this filly's last speed fig, 58, is tops in this group. ONE HOT TAMOLLY - I believe Martin is making a good move here. This filly can only benefit from the shorter trip. I like the way this filly's finish positions have gotten better with each start recently. A sign of a racer coming into top form. I like that recent race on July 12th at Prairie Mdws where she ran second.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1A PRINCESS NEVAEH (ML=5/1), #1 R R MINGO (ML=5/1), #2 SHOW ME QUICK (ML=6/1),

PRINCESS NEVAEH - Should have at least finished in the money in the last couple of months in a short distance event to be worth the chance at minimal odds in a sprint. R R MINGO - Not probable that the speed figure she earned on Jul 31st will be enough in this event. SHOW ME QUICK - Disappointing fig in the last race at Prairie Mdws at 6 furlongs. Don't feel this runner will improve too much in today's race.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Bet on #6 BRAVA GENIUS to win if you can get at least 6/5 odds

# 4 NAGUA'S STAR 8/5

# 2 LUMINART 2/1

# 5 ROSES FOR WANDY 5/2

NAGUA'S STAR is the best wager in this race. She looks very good in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the halfway point. LUMINART - Is difficult not to look at given the company run in lately. ROSES FOR WANDY - Should go to the front end and might never look back. Well above average win rate at this distance/surface.
