RECOMMENDED*CHOICES

# 2 HOTHALFONE 9/2

# 5 FORT DIXIE 12/1

# 6 GARY LUKE 8/1

HOTHALFONE looks very good to best this field. He has been running soundly and the speed figures are among the best in this group of animals. Earned a solid speed fig in the last race. Can run another good one in this race. The average class rating alone makes this entrant a contender. FORT DIXIE - This horse could stun this field at a decent number. Solid average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this equine a definite contender. GARY LUKE - Always good to invest in a conditioner with this kind of very good win percentage - 17 percent - at this distance & surface.

RECOMMENDED*CHOICES

# 2 MAGNIFICO DRAGON 5/2

# 3 SCOOTERS DEBUTANT 5/1

# 8 FIRST KOOL MOON 7/2

I've got to go with MAGNIFICO DRAGON. Has to be considered against this group of animals displaying competitive figures recently and an average speed figure of 91 under similar conditions. Looks like a formidable contender for the exotics. His 89 average has this gelding with among the strongest Equibase Speed Figs in this contest. SCOOTERS DEBUTANT - Has formidable Equibase Speed Figures and has to be considered for a bet in this race. Must be considered given the class of races run recently. FIRST KOOL MOON - Looks solid for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid figures in short races recently. With a decent 90 speed figure last time out, will surely be a factor in this outing.

Gulfstream Park - Race #4 - Post: 2:02pm - Claiming - 7.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $24,000 Class Rating: 93

Rating:

#5 CATANOVA (ML=8/1)
#3 BENEFICIARY (ML=9/2)

CATANOVA - Really have to figure this thoroughbred is going to be close at the wire. BENEFICIARY - This gelding is in fine condition. Ended up first on December 7th. Classic angle - 3rd or 4th start after a vacation generally leads to a big effort. Going to run a nice one here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 MR. MAGIC (ML=5/2), #7 CHARLIE BRAVO (ML=5/1), #6 TRANSFORMATIVE (ML=6/1),

MR. MAGIC - Didn't land in the top three on Sep 28th at Belmont Park. Followed it up with another less than stellar performance. CHARLIE BRAVO - This horse didn't show any early speed in the last event. Now he is trying a sprint. Tough chance at the shorter distance. Tough to support any horse in a sprint clash if he hasn't hit the board in a sprint in the last two months. TRANSFORMATIVE - A runner should have more early zip at 1 1/16 miles to get my juices flowing about his chances to win at 7 1/2 furlongs. This colt gave a less than rousing performance last time out of the box.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - BENEFICIARY - Speculating on this steed is a smart move. He possesses the best speed figure in turf sprints.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #8 - Post: 3:47pm - Allowance - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $22,500 Class Rating: 96

Rating:

#5 ITSNOTEZBEINBREEZY (ML=5/1)

ITSNOTEZBEINBREEZY - Gelding shipped to this track and won; now goes for a double. Santos is back up for another contest today after sitting atop this equine for the first time on November 26th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. Have to give this gelding a good chance. Ran a strong contest in the last race within the last month or so. Speed ratings on the turf point to this horse as a legit contender. Has the best in the field for this distance-surface.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 MAP ROOM (ML=3/1), #6 SAN DIMAS (ML=7/2), #1 NOBLE THOUGHT (ML=4/1),

MAP ROOM - The finish of tenth in the last affair shows me that this equine may be tailing off. A pattern of deteriorating speed figs 90/86/73 for this racer. This vulnerable equine ran a mediocre speed fig last time around the track. He shouldn't run much better and will probably lose in today's race running that figure. SAN DIMAS - The young horse will have a hard time beating older in this one. NOBLE THOUGHT - This closer will probably be rolling down the lane much too late to make an impression in this race. The veterans will probably defeat this young horse today. This colt notched a speed fig in his last race which probably isn't good enough in today's event.

EARLY PICK 4: 6/2,6,10/1,2,3,7/2,4,6,7 = $36

LATE PICK 4: 1,2,4/1,2,4,7/8,9/3,4 = $48

MEET STATS: 61 - 238 / $367.30 BEST BETS: 9 - 23 / $30.30

SPOT PLAYS: 6 - 22 / $28.80

Best Bet: ARTISTIC MADISON (4th)

Spot Play: WANDA BAYAMA (11th)

Race 1

(8) ELDORADO OF GOLD S has been hinting a better form in his last two starts. Perhaps red-hot driver McNair sends him this time vs. a weaker group. (2) LETS LEAVEM was first up against a tough winner that came right back and won in the top class at London on Tuesday; using. (3) STRIKNGLYIMPRESSIVE has good early speed on her best day. Maybe she will improve for Menary here in her first start off a claim. (5) MUSICAL SPELL figures to take another smaller share here.

Race 2

(4) THREEDEE DELIGHT A shows a winning 1:51 4/5 mile in Australia in October, so she obviously has some ability. She gets Lasix and goes for the top trainer in her North American debut; top call. (3) KILLEAN FINALE gets the same drive every time, but it has been working out most times. She's hard to love at a short price knowing she is unlikely to leave the pylons, but she should be used in the Pick 5. (2) FOREVER LIZA is another must-use off her strong comeback race. (6) DAZZLING ROCKETTE should motor home again from far back for a smaller share.

Race 3

(6) PRESCOTTS HOPE's 53 2/5 back 1/2 last week shows he has come all the way back to top form. I'll give him a slight nod here and hope he is a decent price. (2) NICKLE BAG couldn't gain on the rim last time. Perhaps from this post, he will get away first or second which would give him a much better chance. (3) ALEXAS JACKPOT tired after setting some serious splits. He can be closer if he takes a breather at some point. (1) AMERICAN VIRGIN has been closing quickly in most starts, but, he has never won in this class. I will take a stand against on the win end here and in the Pick 5.

Race 4

(6) ARTISTIC MADISON appears to have finally come back to her best form after a lean year of racing. If that is so, this slight step up won't be an issue at all. (4) SING LIKE AN ANGEL takes a slight drop and moves inside which should help her. (2) TIMMYLYNN went a big trip off a five-week break to beat the choice last time. She must be considered for multi-race bets. (1) YOUR MY SECRET was on too much non-advancing cover last time but she did well to close for 2nd; minor share predicted.

Race 5

(10) KIWI FOCUS N beat better last start now she gets into this class on earnings. Only the 10-hole can get her beat, but I'm betting it won't. (6) COLLECTIVE WISDOM had sharp speed early and late in her winning mile on December 9th; using. (2) KAYS SHADOW woke up in a big way last time. She may find the top two tough here; minor award predicted. (7) SR BEACH BABE steps up but she is in excellent form and she can take a share here.

Race 6

(2) JUSTASMALLTOWNGIRL was very sharp early last time then took a shuffle and re-emerged late to hit the board. She could take this group all the way. (1) ABC WINNER closed mildly as the pace wasn't slowing much in the final 1/4 last week. He could get a much better pace setup for his late charge here. (7) SMOOTHER RIDE took lots of action last time then blew up at the start. He can make amends here if he behaves. (3) FORK is worth a look for the exotics on the class drop. Note last time he dropped to a similar level he won.

Race 7

(2) MACH CODE fits well here and he should be prominent throughout so long as missing a weak doesn't dull his speed any. (4) PISTON BROKE roared past late as the pace slowed last time. This step up isn't great for the classy veteran. Toss him on your Pick 4 tickets. (6) VEGAS ROCKS tried leaving last time but several others had the same idea. He could have better luck with that strategy here leaving from the best post; beware. (7) DAYLIGHT RUSH is an obvious speed threat and he is tough to pass if he gets a breather.

Race 8

(4) VOODOO CHARM goes for Cullen here following a private sale. Expect aggression from the new owner/trainer/driver. (1) MAPLELEA finally showed some of her patented kick last time by firing a 27 1/5 kicker. Maybe now is the time to board her bandwagon. (2) BERNADETTE was hung out too long to make front and paid for it late. She could get a much better trip here at a square price. (9) MISS COCO LUCK fits this class well but the outer post likely dooms her to a smaller share.

Race 9

(7) DOTTIE flew home last week to win in this class at a big price. Leaving from a better post here and facing similar, I will give her the nod to repeat. (1) ADO DUHARAS was shuffled out of the race but he finished quickly. He figures here. (2) MACHO MASS raced well despite enduring a long trip last time and he is another that could take this leg of the Pick 4. (4) MAJOR MUSCLE is the main speed threat leaving from a better post. He could better this prediction.

Race 10

(9) SANDBETWEENURTOES doesn't seem bothered by missing time so I'll give her the nod here despite her having missed three weeks. (8) WAASMULA looks like the main danger and she could make the choice work hard early if both have the idea to blast off the gate. (7) SAYITALL BB should be passing horses late for a share here. (5) MS MAC N CHEESE is another that figures to take a smaller share as has been her custom most of the year.

Race 11

(3) WANDA BAYAMA follows the exact same script as last December when she shipped in from Ottawa and changed trainers from Filion to Larocque. She jogged in 1:52 4/5 in her first start for the new conditioner then so I'll give her the top call here. (4) NEFERTITI BLUECHIP appears to have been facing better in New York. She figures here. (7) AINSLEYNOELLE can stick around for another smaller share here. (6) THREE DREAMS should be rallying again and she should make the Super, at least.

Race 12

(5) SHADOW MARGEAUX raced huge on the rim first up last week and he would have won if he could have fished cover out. I think he should find a live helmet to follow here, slight nod. (3) YS LOTUS should show more making his second start in this class, moving inside and with the Allard barn heating up of late. (4) ELECTRIC WESTERN should make the High-5 if he can come up with another sub-28 kicker. (8) PAPARAZZI HANOVER will be one of the main speed threats for a driver/trainer that has been hot here the past few cards. (6) THE REV went a long trip last week but kept coming. He is rounding into form and he does his best work in the winter.

Meadowlands: Friday 12/23 Analysis
By Jay Bergman

DRF

Race 1 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 0 - 0 / $0.00

Best Bet: SPICEBOMB (4th)

Spot Play: PARNU HANOVER (8th)

Race 1

(4) WAITING ON A WOMAN may just have found the softest spot since her local return. Classy veteran is in live hands and figures to work out a good trip. (1) FLYING ISA N showed reasonable trot at both ends of the mile in last and figures to get away in good order this time. (3) CAN DO has won 21 times over the last two years and should benefit here from an improved draw.

Race 2

(8) PICKWICK qualified well against a much tougher group. Soph sports a winning habit and gets the hottest driver around. (6) DASH OF DANGER has been in rare form at Saratoga and tests the big track for Burke. (4) THINKIN BIG showed significant improvement in his second qualifier. Frosh makes his career debut and is an unknown that may in fact be something.

Race 3

(2) ROCK N DELIGHT was unable to reach in his local debut; prior form was quite impressive at Plainridge. (3) GREAT SOUL gave Brett Miller his eighth win last Friday night and earns his loyalty on the step up but may not be worth the short odds. (7) AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL consistently hits the board.

Race 4

(5) SPICEBOMB raced credibly after missing four weeks of action. Gelding has shown high speed in a limited number of starts and that puts him ahead of most of these. (10) PAWN SHOP JUNKIE could be springing from the gate with energy from this spot. Soph was razor sharp in his last at Yonkers. (1) BIGGIE was given an aggressive drive at 25-1 last time and obviously fell short; could be tighter tonight.

Race 5

(7) PANSFORMATIVE comes off the shelf after two qualifiers for Johnson and faces stock a level below where he fits comfortably on his best form. (2) HUGH HEFNER N can be excused for lackluster performances in his last two tries at Yonkers; may enjoy the lighter competition level. (4) GRAVELSINMYTRAVEL had a brutal overland trip in last and may in fact be much better than that.

Race 6

(3) ELRAMA N had to work a little harder finishing last week upon moving up in class but still overpowered the group. Recent claim by Russo has become energized and may not be done yet. (7) ASHLEYS HUSBAND is going to leave the gate one of these days in order to avoid a first-over trip; maybe tonight? (5) WINDSUN STETSON may have been overmatched at Yonkers; returns to the big oval.

Race 7

(10) NATIONAL SEELSTER showed some of that fight he displayed throughout his 3-year-old campaign coming off the shelf in last. Son of Bettor's Delight was meant for better and may be pointed in that direction. (3) SPINARAMA may line up behind live cover here. (1) DREAMLANDS ART was a solid second from a similar spot two back and figures again to be forwardly placed.

Race 8

(1) PARNU HANOVER has taken a few starts to get his legs under him but appears primed for a big mile. One-time $140K yearling purchase flashed sneaky pace finishing from an impossible spot last time. (4) DOCTOR BUTCH has a world of back class and perhaps has been slow coming around this time; the horse to beat at this level. (8) K LEES SHAKENBAKE devoured weaker with an explosive late kick; steps up a notch but may be compromised by the draw.

Race 9

(4) UNIX HANOVER returns to the Big M at half price from his early December engagement and may be looking to get in action early here. (1) WHATAORSE flashed solid late foot while well out of it in last; draws inside. (6) WINTER BLUES had his winning streak broken while facing tougher in last; can rebound.

Race 10

(2) NEW YORK TOWN N was notably short in his first start in four weeks. Veteran import draws inside and draws into a little softer division of this class. (7) FITZS Z TAM may have been a used a bit too hard in the early stages last week; prior form is encouraging. (4) BRUCES MAGIC has been chasing tougher.

Race 11

(7) SKY IS THE LIMIT gets a very nice drop in class shipping in from Yonkers and should take advantage of the situation with Andy Miller in the bike. (4) VICTORYDAZE WILWIN went down the road with purpose last week but just couldn't restrain the efforts of Brett Miller on his super-human night; can't rule out here despite the step up. (9) A PLUS HANOVER may appreciate the move to the big track.

Race 12

(1) LE GAMBE may need to get away a tad closer to the front here to have any reasonable shot at success. With Marohn in the bike that is likely to happen. (5) VICEROY HANOVER kicked in to high gear in his second start here to post a crushing upset victory. Gelding is a factor again with the right trip. (7) J K ONAROLL didn't seem to like the sprint down the pike style last time; prior form is excellent.

Race 13

(5) EVERY INTENTION looks to have found a level where he can eke out a victory. Tyler Smith has been assertive since his arrival. (7) KEYSTONE CAMARO picks up Brett Miller for his Meadowlands return. (4) GAIUS CRASTINUS appears to have worked his way back into shape at Freehold and could surprise here.
