How can you say chicago is making strides? sure they had some nice picks up with campbell, but they have 12 million dollars invested in goaltending next season. that is flat out absurd and dumb. the team has a need for play makers and he goes and dumps 12 million into his goalies.

now perhaps he can deal Bulin, but no one is taking that kid at 6.75 million for just one season of hockey.

they are stuck with him unless they waive him which i cant see happening.

Chicago will be a very good team next season. Most will be critical of the two goalies, but I kind of like it. It's the most important position on the ice and you can never be too loaded. Two very solid goalies are better than one, and you always have the option of trading one if you want.

Campbell was a very good signing. Everyone gets too much money, and I can promise you he is more than $600,000 better than Redden (who I actually like). Campbell is a top tier defensemen in my opinion. Obviously you feel otherwise, but I really like the guy. Chicago is loaded with young talent and that team is going to be a contender very shortly and for a long time. I put them up there with franchises like Boston, and St Louis that are building great teams and will return to the top very soon.

I never said i dont like the campbell signing. i would have loved for the flyers to have had enough room to sign him, but i love him going to chicago to help restore a franchise i actually like.

im just baffled by their willingness to spend so much on Huet when they dont actually need a goalie.

I mean they could have had some other guys for much cheaper to team with Bulin.

Now if your telling me hes gonna move Bulin and get a player then i think its a smart move given bulin is a FA at the end of the year anyway. but 12 mil for this year tied up in goalies is tough.

Man not one mention of the caps signings. What do you guys think?

I really wanted to keep huet but im kinda of glad we didnt match the contract the blackhawks offered. Ill take theodore and think we can be competitive. Olie was a great goalie for the caps and I hate to see the way things went down with him. I think tampa got a solid guy for 1.5. Im happy we resigned green it was kind of expenisve but hes defintely a young talent. We need a good stay at home d-man still. Apparently were still talking to federov he wants 4 mil we wanna give him 2. I know hes old but id love for him to be around these young guys another year.

So whats up any opinions guys. Im curious to see what the oilers are doing, and I think the rangers are a train wreck personally. If I was sundin I couldnt sign that 10 mil contract fast enough, I dont believe hes still worth that.

I think you had to sign green, the kid was a force for you all season, and it was time to let Olie go.

I think if the caps can pick up another winger and resign federov that they will be a legit team.

signing Jose was a risk obviously but you know hes capable of playing great hockey.

the rangers are total dopes in my mind. i have no idea who they think will score goals for them

with the caps getting jose and letting huet go..they have a goalie who can play a full season. huet never played more than 52 games.

huet is definately NOT worth 5.6 a year and its a good decision by the caps to go in another direction. the caps also have that russian prospect who should be a good goalie who could be ready in 2 years maybe so u wouldve had huet at 5.6 sharing time with someone else which is ridiculous.

I said at the start of last season that Chicago and Edmonton are two great young teams that are gonna be a force down the road and their only adding to that with the moves made yesterday, and especially if the Oil land Hossa today. That being said, despite what Hawks GM Tallon says in that article about being happy with two good expensive goalies you know who he is trying to unload Khabibulin this very minute and will continue to try and unload him all season. You just don't spend 12 million on goaltending in the NHL Salary Cap Era, especially when they are now 4 million over the cap, somebody will have to go by September.

Dallas Stars sign Sean Avery for four years, 15.5 mil...good signing in my opinion. I'm a big Avery fan and there is no doubt that he helps a hockey team. That's a big loss for the Rangers though.
