then billions of people have been getting it wrong for centuries. back in the good old days the first kid that got chicken pox meant that about 20 kids would be at his house for playtime the next day so they can all get the pox, recover in a few weeks, and have a lifelong immunity protecting you. do that today and you'll be visited by a couple CPS dudes in riot gear
of course sweden's numbers look worse today but over the next year or two all nordic countries will sail passed sweden's numbers as the swedes have far higher % of people with antibodies. why people don't understand this after 10,000 years, sigh...
I'm not even sure what you are saying but once the WHO/China/Virology community/etc incompetence brings the virus to our shores and it spreads, the economy is torched. Whether certain areas shutdown or not just changes this by varying degrees but social distancing, quarantining, existing health issues and the excessive nature of how levered our economy already was is just too much fragility.

When I say herd immunity would've been a disaster, I mean starting in mid-March. Now that the weather is warmer in most of the country and we've properly acclimated (as best we can atleast) to social distancing, quarantining then I think you gradually open up and just hope that good ol ingenuity brings a treatment or two with the smartest minds and most resources in the world working on the problem. But there wasn't some easy way out of this that we didn't try. Not even close.
That's pretty much always been my opinion, probably said it in another thread but got lost in shuffle.
I'd gladly bet on this with 12/31/2021 being the cutoff if it was possible to do so.
Are you saying the virus can't be beat via eradication from contact tracing, testing, lockdown?
Many countries are beating it doing so, sure the US probably couldn't because it is a vast decentralized land with an unhealthy and irresponsible population but it can be done.
