this thread needs to be closed, I can see bashing a guy batting .125 or something but he is batting around .250 and will continue to be at .250 or above the rest of the year most likely..just a stupid thread

This thread will remain open until they pull the Delta commercials, or when Francouer get's that OBP over 330.

No name pitcher for a few more years and a no name pitcher to many. But if we had to rank pitching prospects in the minor leagues, Broxton is #2 - not too shabby for the #1 ranked minor league system. None the less he would be considered no name.

There we go ANTIPUBLIC! 0-4 today, with the trademark K!

7 FOR HIS LAST 46! NO HOMERS, 2 RBI, 2 RUNS SCORED, 1 WALK, 1 CAUGHT STEALING!!

This guy is now the LEAST productive regular starting Right fielder in the national league! He is the 2ND Least productive OF in the WHOLE national league (pierre, worst).

Anybody want to make the argument that he should be in the majors?

I told ya so!

I don't think people are making the argument that he should be in the majors, people are making the argument that you're a whacko.

Chris, I am judging it upon his RC27 score, which is a measure of how many runa a team composed entirely of Francouer would score. His score before tonight was 3.59, easily the lowest for any NL RF.

You could also use OBP to judge this, although I don't think thats fair as it doesn't give a good look at his power numbers.

Lets use a measure known as Adjusted OPS. 71.4% On Base, and 28.6% Slugging (as OBP is about 2.5x more valuable than slugging).

FRANCOUER ON BASE: .257 X 2.5= .643, + SLUG OF .447= 1.0895,

SO HIS ADJUSTED OPS IS .623 (1.0895/ (2/3.5))

Another way to look at it is his..
Secondary Average (A way to look at a player's extra bases gained, independent of Batting Average)
(TB - H + BB + SB - CS) / AB

Coming into today, his was .186, the next lowestamong NL Rf's was.204

In summation, the average AAA player would produce similar or better statistics than Mr. Francouer.

I was just about to type this even before I saw your question.

MCPHERSON: RC27= 2.10
SECA= .193
BB/K RATIO= 0.06
OBP= .224 (BEFORE TONIGHT)

McPherson is another who really should still be in the minors, although there are differences between him and Frenchy. Notably, he lacks major endorsements and hero status in the Southeastern United States region.

His sample set in the majors is also a lot smaller, and he has shown better plate discipline in the past (not much though). Very indicative of what is plaguing the Angels organization right now. They just eat outs man, it's sickening really.
