Who do you see ultimately winning this? DJ, Koepka, or someone else?

On Saturday night my choices to win would have been Jason Day or Dustin Johnson. Of the players on whom I had no betting interest, I thought Paul Casey would have been the "best story" and thought he would make some noise; I also though DeChambeau was a danger, but not a "best story". Of course I was also pulling hard for my e.w. wager on Morikawa, and my matchup play of DJ over Morikawa was something of a hedge that I figured I would be happy to lose if Morikawa gained on DJ.

Chris DiMarco(60/1) e.w.
Darren Clarke(80/1) e.w.
- - I'm on board with too many players at skinny prices for a four round Champions Tour event, and think only the price on Montgomerie has enticing value.

Collin Morikawa has now risen to No. 5 in the World Golf Rankings without winning anything in the wake generated by an event with 40,000+ fans, so I guess he still has that left to prove, but it looks like for now I won’t have any good reasons to be betting against him doing so.

The 30/1 available on Morikawa when I made my P.G.A. wagers seemed almost too short to justify a wager, but it seems like he had a ton of backing "in the industry" at a similar price. Congratulations to All on Board! While I love what Morikawa has shown with his game, the crux of my play really came down to agreeing with the analysis of Stanley at tour-tips that for whatever reason(s), many of the players that have been strong since the restart have been consistently worth backing (and something similar but less defined has applied for avoiding those that just haven’t seemed to find their footing). On that basis, I looked at just the winners since the restart, and decided the two players I had to have at the P.G.A., regardless of price, were Rahm and Morikawa.

I barely had a profitable P.G.A. week despite having the winner, because of terrible results in the matchups, and nothing in Europe. But what absolutely thrills me is picking another winner in a Major championship, extending nearly two decades of personal excellence in those events over any other defining parameter. I love my Morikawa wins, my Lowry wins, my Woods wins, etc. in the Majors (when I often have 30+ hours over just four or five days invested in watching the live coverage, and the post-round analysis, and the pre-event hype, they really count at least double in my satisfaction quotient :) ), and love having had no shortage of strong contenders, and am certainly hoping for two more decades with more of the same. . . And to conclude, having a winner with Sam Horsfield(33/1) the week before a major was really against the grain of my usual form of being sad to piss poor the week before a major, and now we venture to a week after a major for which my two decades of form is definitely above average and profitable, and I’ve gone accordingly heavy with my plays.

good results and great comments...i'm with you in watching every minute of the weekly events (especially enjoy the commentators on the Euro Tour telecasts as opposed to Nantz, Faldo, et al). Look forward to your posts every week.....it's sure helping me get through the pandemic depression that i've been feeling for the last few months being pretty much isolated at home. Thanks for posting.

In-running:

Billy Horschel(100/1)(1/4th for 1-2-3-4) e.w.
- - I knew I would have hours and hours of time invested in watching the action, and hearing and reading information and analysis, so it was always my intention to add one or more players in-running, probably at long odds. After Thursday surprised with a leaderboard flowing with red numbers, I was not feeling much of anything. Now it seems obvious that almost anyone finding a way to shoot a 69 or 67 is probably going to find themselves dreaming on Saturday night of a path to the championship on Sunday . . . After studying on the possibilities, and trying to weigh the golf action I've seen at Winged Foot, narratives from interviews and social media, feelers subjectively gleaned from the participant's seasons and careers to date, stats, game strengths, pairings, etc., I'm speculating on 33 year old Horschel at 100/1, needing him to step it up from his 9 of 28 fairways hit to really justify this leap of faith over Finau(50/1), Berger(100/1), Kokrak(33/1), Im(500/1), Oosthuizen(50/1), Glover(200/1) and Howell(1000/1). And DJ(25/1), duh.
